TriusMalarky on Budget Mono Green Agro for FNM

If you're playing fetches, Landfall Zoo is strictly better than general green stompy. The price difference is in the lands.

Wild Nacatl starts you off as a 1 mana 3/3, then add Steppe Lynx and Akoum Hellhound for some insane beaters. Narnam Renegade gives you a fourth great one drop, and Brushfire Elemental and Plated Geopede put in plenty of work. Add Burning-Tree Emissary and Hidden Herbalists for some better 2 drops. Myr Superion takes advantage of the mana off Emissary and Herbalists.

Top it off with Scale Up and Become Immense for some big boi energy.

It's a bit cheaper than this solution as Arid Mesa and Windswept Heath are a lot cheaper than other fetches. Also, you get Path to Exile and Prismatic Ending for removal, as well as other fun tools like Lightning Helix , Lightning Bolt , Light Up the Stage , Ancient Grudge , Smash to Smithereens , etc.

Of course, it's an entirely different deck, so it's completely up to you -- I might have some other stuff in my back pocket.

Alrighty.

General Notes: I see a whole lotta fatties and some ramp but not too much interaction. I'd definitely cut some of those high cmc cards and replace them with more low to the ground creatures. Also, imo splashing white would be a lot more useful than splashing black because you can use Steppe Lynx and maybe Path to Exile along with white's sexy sideboard suite, and Ol' Obby is not worth the splash. I haven't tested Nissa of Shadowed Boughs , but if she turns out to be op as fuck, then I would suggest adding some black removal at least like Push and Trophy .

In modern, ramp like Cultivate and Kodama's Reach are gonna be way too slow. I'd definitely cut them. If you want ramp of this kind, then maybe Search for Tomorrow . Also I don't really see why Crackle with Power is there, although I guess you could cast it for a decent amount with the ramp and Lotus Cobra . Another "ramp" spell I think is worth trying is Atarka's Command . It can ramp, bolt the opponent, pump all your creatures, clap your opponent's lifegain, etc. Also can't forget our boy Lightning Bolt .

For creatures, I'd at least cut Ob to 1 copy, if not altogether. Same with Omnath, Locus of Rage , unless you want to lean more into the elemental tribal. Territorial Scythecat does not seem worth it. I like Ancient Greenwarden , but it costs 6, and it doesn't actually do anything by itself either, it depends on other landfall creatures, so I'd also cut that to 0-1.

To replace some of these cuts, I suggest more aggressive creatures such as Steppe Lynx as previously mentioned along with Brushfire Elemental . Wayward Guide-Beast is really interesting as well.

For lands, fetch lands would obviously increase the deck's power significantly, but I assume you aren't using them because of budget constraints.

Don't really have anything else to add rn but if I think of smth I'll be sure to tell you.

TheMadRocketeer on Landfall Elementals

My current thinking is that, as much as I love them and as much as I've kind of partially built the deck's theme around them, the whole Omnath, Locus of Rage and elementals theme is something this deck really doesn't need in its current form. So I either need to accelerate it somehow, slow the opponent down somehow, or sacrifice some of the high-CMC stuff and the focus on elementals in order to enhance the lower end of the mana curve. That could be combined with adding the interaction that I've known from the start that I need.

Possible Changes:
Out:
1X Elixir of Immortality - Trying to remember why I put this in.
2X Omnath, Locus of Rage
2X Catalyst Elemental
1X Nahiri's Lithoforming
Anything that's CMC >= 4 is a candidate to remove.

In:
1X Brushfire Elemental - I recently got a second one.
2X Scythe Leopard
1X Murasa Rootgrazer
2 to 4X Nature's Way / Ram Through
Something in green that provides instant speed hexproof / shroud protection

ghostmode on Scourge of the Skyclaves small …

I was at 16 life, the opponent at 13. I had a 4/4 Scourge of the Skyclaves and the opponent had a Bonecrusher Giant , 1/1 Human token, Lovestruck Beast , and a Brushfire Elemental which is currently 3/3. He swings board and I block Bonecrusher Giant with Scourge.

Embercleave , attaches it to the Giant. Giant dies, Scourge lives as 7/7. Makes sense. I went down to 3 life though. I assume it was a 5/4 double strike trample but I don't remember looking at it's P/T. I literally only can't figure out one point of damage. I'd have thought I'd go to 2 life.

Wouldn't it be: first strike 5/4 Giant vs.4/4 tramples over 1, Scourge becomes a 5/5 with 4 damage, then normal combat 5/4 Giant vs. 5/5 with 4 damage marked on it, tramples 4? Scourge becomes a 7/7 with 5 damage marked? Why did it seemingly trample 3 instead of 4, or did I calculate something else wrong.

Murphy77 on Gruul Landfall

I really like the idea. I just get the feeling that the most aggro landfall would be something like: Turn 1; Mountain and Akoum Hellhound, Turn 2; Land and Infuriate - swing with 5/5 in turn 2... With the landfall ramp that you get from Radha, Heart of Keld, you need at least 3 copies in your deck. I like the idea of Azusa, Lost but Seeking as a facilitator of multiple landfalls per turn, but a wide range of other creatures that do not have any landfall effects just seem to slow down your deck. Definitely, some instant power ramps are needed. I would keep in Cultivate. My list for this deck would be:

Main Deck

2 Phylath, World Sculptor,

2 Azusa, Lost but Seeking,

3 Radha, Heart of Keld,

4 Scute Swarm,

4 Brushfire Elemental,

4 Akoum Hellhound,

4 Kazandu Mammoth  Flip,

3 Cultivate,

3 Infuriate,

3 Unleash Fury,

3 Fire Prophecy,

3 Rugged Highlands,

3 Fabled Passage,

3 Evolving Wilds,

9 Forest,

7 Mountain.

Side Board

2 Ashaya, Soul of the Wild,

3 Thundering Rebuke,

3 Heroic Intervention,

3 Ranger's Guile,

4 Shadowspear (works in just about any deck).

Mirenheart on Omnath, Locus of Value

I'd recommend a Deadeye Navigator in this. he pairs very well with the koolaid man, and acts as a legit source of draw power, as well as resetting Omnaths landfall triggers so you can get them again.

I also recommend a few bounce lands like Gruul Turf. Early on, they act as additional land drops because they tap for two and bounce a land to your hand, and later on, you can play them, and bounce themselves back to your hand for multiplay landfall triggers, even if you're out of lands to play otherwise. Adding in Sakura-Tribe Scout, combined with a bounce land and Retreat to Coralhelm gets you infinite landfall triggers, if you don't mind having a hard to assemble, 4 piece infinite combo (fourth piece being something that gives landfall).

For other draw cards, I recommend Parcelbeast, Risen Reef, and Omnath, Locus of the Roil. Parcelbeast is only once per turn, but it does draw you cards, and sometimes ramps too. and you can mutate it onto something else for pseudo haste (or onto a Scute Swarm for VERY silly plays). Risen Reef is a fun combo that isn't infinite, when paired with Omnath, Locus of Rage or Zendikar's Roil, where playing a land creates an elemental token, which makes it look at the top of your deck, and if that card is a land, you play it, get another elemental, and it goes off again. And Omnath of the Roil is just good in general for this decks theme, giving you card draw if you have enough land. Tireless Tracker and Nissa, Vital Force are also great ways to draw cards from your deck. if you put in Spark Double as well, you can copy Nissa with it, instantly use the -6 for card draw, and then use the original nissa for recursion.

I'd also replace Skyclave Geopede with Brushfire Elemental. Similar effect, cheaper mana, slightly lesser power, but has haste and a type of evasion. Also an elemental if you add Risen Reef

For a fun way to close out a game, Akroma's Memorial puts in some good work when you pump out a bunch of tokens, giving them haste, trample, flying, and some relevant color protections. Moraug, Fury of Akoum also lets you overwhelm everyone with all those tokens and a couple lands. and finally, Finale of Devastation also works to close out games. If you pay 10GG on it (12 mana total), you can drop pretty much any creature in your deck onto the field, and then give all your creatures +10/+10 and haste.
