I believe I can fry, I believe I can torch the sky

Commander / EDH Aggro Burn Goblins Mono-Red Theme/Gimmick Tokens

Gingish

I believe I can fry, I believe I can torch the sky

I used to think that I could not go on

And EDH was nothing but awfully long

But now I know the meaning of true burn

Not leaning on the everlasting turns

If I can see it, then I can pew it

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

CHORUS :

I believe I can fry

I believe I can torch the sky

I think about it every night and day

Spread my tokens and fry away

I believe I can scorch

I see me frying through that Oloro

I believe I can fry

I believe I can fry

I believe I can fry

See I was on the verge of breaking down

Sometimes topdecking can seem so hard

There are cards in my deck I must draw you see

But first I know it starts inside of me, oh

If I can tutor it, then I can play it

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

CHORUS

Hey, cause I believe in me, oh

If I can see it, then I can do it (I can do it)

If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

CHORUS

Hey, if I just spread my tokens

I can fry

I can fry

I can fry, hey

If I just spread my tokens

I can fry-eye-eye-eye

Hum, fry-eye-eye

  1. Play Purphoros

  2. Get tokens

  3. ?????

  4. WIN

Notable synergies with Purphoros, God of the Forge:

Hostility + Rolling Earthquake (Or any other X-damage-to-all-spell) = Tons of damage

Norin the Wary + Multiple opponents = Tons of damage

Grinning Ignus = Pay : Tons of damage

Krenko, Mob Boss = Tons of damage

Panharmonicon = ggwp

Young Pyromancer perhaps?

September 4, 2015 3:02 p.m.

Conjurer's Closet can go a long way with things such as Emrakul's Hatcher.

September 11, 2015 9:42 a.m.

Two cards that won me games with Purphoros was Spawning Pit = x 1,5 the tokens and Chandra's Spitfire for one-shotting opponents.

I kinda stopped playing him as a general as my edck was a dead if he got tucked. How do you overcome that?

September 11, 2015 1:01 p.m.

@ bjarneudenarme

Haven't you heard. They changed the tuck rule a while ago. If your commander would be shuffled into your deck or put into your hand you can insted place it in the command zone.

But generally I just try to avoid playing Purphoros when a control player has mana up.

September 11, 2015 1:57 p.m.

Ohh i did not know that. Thats great! :)

September 11, 2015 3:03 p.m.

Stranglehold: I think it is perfect for this deck!

Kaladesh brings this fun addition: Panharmonicon for twice the damage from Purphoros.

+1 for title and flavour

Couple lands that have worked for me in my Purphy Build.

Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance, Dwarven Mine, Kher Keep, Spinerock Knoll

The enter tapped of Dwarven mines doesn't usually matter, if you have it first hand and not enough mana, you can simply throw it out first turn, otherwise, later its a free ETB. Spinerock is a little harder with the entered tap, but i generally get to play a spell for for less than its CMC pretty quick (4 ETBs in a turn should be easy)

And later turns, Kher Keep is a good way to get an extra ping, and Solkenzan can be pitched for a couple of ETBs for usually a couple mana (if you have your commander and another Leg in play)

If you can find room Soul Foundry can dupe something every round (i'm thinking Mogg War Marshal for cheap or Hostility later in game).

Lightning Berserker or the cheap dash goblins might be useful as well.

Ei voinu olla nauramatta ku naki ton nimen :D

May 29, 2015 9:45 a.m.

I like the song but your mana curve is way high. You need more cheaper drops for Purph to be effective.

June 3, 2015 11:39 a.m.

Depending on how flooded you can get the board with tokens Outpost Siege is a good option. Not only would creatures hurt entering the battlefield, it will hurt to remove them as well. Your opponent might have t think twice about using a board wipe on you.

June 5, 2015 5:12 p.m.

Kher Keep is a must for this deck, what could be better than hard to remove constant tokens?

July 12, 2015 5:23 p.m.

There's this card that you sacrifice two creatures and you get a 3/1 that you should have, as it turns kremkos command in to put a 3/1 out and deal six damage

August 25, 2015 7:59 a.m.

It's called Tooth and Claw also +1 from me

August 25, 2015 8:01 a.m.

+1 for the song and the nice deck, I have a Purphorous EDH and it's always nice to see others appreciating him as well. On that same train of thought I have a semi-long list of cards that I have found very helpful when playing my deck. Without further ado here is the list:

Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs, Impact Tremors, Pentavus, Spawnsire of Ulamog, Thopter Squadron, War Elemental, Burning Earth, Mana Echoes, Tooth and Claw, Shrine of Loyal Legions, Orochi Hatchery, Trading Post, Nuisance Engine, Madblind Mountain

I hope some of these people to be useful to you as well on your journey to fry everything :)

@kopopoo

Actually now that I thought about it more, it wouldn't even work then. It would have to reduce the cost of activated abilities by one Red for it to go infinite :D

June 22, 2014 12:50 p.m.

ah, u r right :)

June 22, 2014 2:29 p.m.

Awesome song and nicely built deck.

August 4, 2014 1:01 p.m.

I saw the title and immediately assumed that I would get to see a Skyfire Kirin deck, but alas...

oh well...

September 6, 2014 10:35 a.m.

I'd drop the Utvara Hellkite for a Hostility to pair with your Earthquake like effects. With Hostility and Purphoros on the field, a resolved Earthquake for 5 would look like-5 points to each creature and player.trigger Hostility(assuming 3 other players) Prevent 15 damage with Hostility (5 for each opponent)Put 15 3/1 elemental creature tokens with haste into playTrigger Purphoros 15 timesWax everyone for 30.

Sure that may be living the dream a bit, but with the Mimic Vat in there you have a solid enough chance to Plunk it down and kill everyone in a single turn. On the plus side this will also leave you with 15 3/1 creature tokens with haste to finish off anyone still alive.

Aside from Hostility, I'd also work in some more Earthquake like effects in the form of Fault Line, Molten Disaster, maybe Titan's Revenge, and best of all Rolling Earthquake. Lastly I'd include an Oblivion Stone and a Nevinyrral's Disk as sweepers that can hit non-creature permanents hard. Red has a hard time dealing with enchantments, these two can handle them for you. Perilous Vault is another solid option for this although it can remove your Purphoros as well.

November 17, 2014 9:23 a.m.

@Drevin

Oh wow I didn't realize the reprinted Rolling Earthquake! It's much cheaper now yay!

Also yeah Hostility has been an on/off card in this deck, now that you said that, I guess I should add it back :D

I already have Earthquake, Fault Line and Molten Disaster. I don't think Titan's Revenge is that good though.

And yeah I guess I could add Oblivion Stone and/or Nevinyrral's Disk in here, but they would also have to take the spot from some damage dealing spells ;__;

Awesome suggestions! Thanks alot!

November 17, 2014 9:31 a.m.

Good lord the song lol

November 17, 2014 9:34 a.m.

Maybe also add Magmaquake and/or Blasphemous Act? +1

February 12, 2015 2:45 p.m.

im singing along +1

February 23, 2015 3:02 p.m.

Genesis Chamber and Beetleback Chief will give you even more fryage.

March 3, 2015 5:43 a.m.

Nicely spoofed song.Just some suggestions on your artifacts - Shrine of Burning Rage and Culling Dais would probably serve you better than skullclamp and planar portal.

January 1, 2014 7:03 p.m.

@ IzzetsaneAww yee thanks mate! And yeah hmm those DO seem really nice, I might add them :)

January 1, 2014 7:36 p.m.

April 16, 2014 1:38 a.m.

Great concept, build, and I love the song spoof! Excellent! +1

April 24, 2014 6:53 a.m.

@7THM7

Thanks alot :) It's kinda like playing a movie villain sometimes, making evil plans and stuff.

April 24, 2014 4:28 p.m.

Lol that song.

April 29, 2014 8:48 a.m.

My first thought was that Homura, Human Ascendant could be sacrificed to one of your many devour cards. That doesn't happen?

May 19, 2014 10:04 a.m.

@the5ervant

You are absolutely right and I added him back in :D

June 7, 2014 1:22 a.m.

add Ruby Medallion , with general and Grinning Ignus infinite combo

June 22, 2014 8:45 a.m.

@kopopoo

I don't think it works that way hombre, if it would reduce the costs by one Red mana and not gray, it would work :)

June 22, 2014 9:48 a.m.

This is incredible

January 1, 2014 1:49 a.m.

@ FTRGee thanks dude :D
