Voracious Cobra

Creature — Snake

First strike

Whenever Voracious Cobra deals combat damage to a creature, destroy that creature.

wallisface Green is super-anti-flying, but cards with flying and a green ability keep being printed. Why is red first strike + green deathtouch a bend? As far as deathstrike goes, first strike is tertiary in black and a non-ability in green, and this only appears on Glissa, the Traitor and Glissa Sunslayer.

Daveslab2022 Would you consider cards like Recoil, Lightning Helix, the guild charms like Selesnya Charm, or Putrefy bad design, boring, or unintuitive? I understand that + =/= . I'm wondering why that's the case.

I completely understand that there's an active effort to prevent color pairs from feeling too samey, and in interest of completion, I feel obligated to say that Voracious Cobra exists. But I still have some questions.

Is there an absolute prohibition on red-green deathstrike? If so, what distinguishes red-green deathstrike from black-green flying/vigilance?

Is there simply too much overlap between 's dedicated removal and deathstrike?

With Ambush Viper, Ice-Fang Coatl, Winged Coatl, and Fleetfeather Cockatrice, is instant-speed creature spot removal more acceptable in than in ?

What makes Golgari Death Swarm a better creative choice than Warrant / Warden, and why did that get printed if it's an inferior choice?

Is there any potential for a card like Warp World or The Great Aurora to be made in ? Why or why not?

Voracious Cobra and Gorilla Berserkers maybe.

Sylvan Offering

If you put in a red "take an extra attack phase after this one" card you can either attack two opponents OR attack one, murder all his creatures and then attack again while you still have the massive bonus to stats

I don't think you really need Genesis Chamber, Goblin Anarchomancer or Gorm the Great

Basalt Golem and Voracious Cobra are funny. Rite of the Raging Storm maybe.

If you were a rich man : Benefactor's Draught is an ugly surprise for opponents who think their guys are tapped out and safe. Druid's Call is super effective. Vigor is hilarious. Neko-Te is fun.

Interesting deck +1

What is your meta like?

Proud Wildbonder - Seems too unimpactful for 4 mana

Essence Warden - Whats the purpose of this?

Beast Whisperer - Seems cool, I tried him in my build. Does he get a chance to stick around long enough to draw you atleast 2-3 cards?

Ravager Wurm - Is this meta against maze of ith?

Shivan Wurm - Reusing ETB effects or something I'm missing? Seems weak

Voracious Cobra - Gosh this card brings back memories from my childhood. Curious how it's been for you, seems like a card they need to burn removal on if they want a chance of attacking you unless they go wide

Windstorm - Meta?

Unleash Fury < Berserk

Fog - Meta, if so, why not get the new green fog that came out recently?

Soul's Might - Return of the Wildspeaker would better serve you as you can draw cards in response to removal rather than your creature getting removed in response to might being cast.

Ancient Tomb , Castle Garenbrig are ramp

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma - Trample and ramp

Heroic Intervention - Protection

Selvala, Heart of the Wilds - Ramp and draw

The Great Henge , Somberwald Sage, Shaman of Forgotten Ways are all good ramp

Inferno Titan - Removal

Kogla, the Titan Ape - Removal

Deflecting Swat - Utility! Counter counterspells, redirect targetted removal/draw/extra turns. Very powerful

Rishkar's Expertise, Bonders' Enclave, Elder Gargaroth, Greater Good, Life's Legacy, are all amazing card draw options, especially greater good. Seriously, don't sleep on greater good

I hope the suggestions werent too overwhelming, I just didn't see that much draw and I figured that adding more never hurts.

Decks of dragons are always fun to play and I'll give my thoughts about the cards that I would take out, so your deck has 60 cards.

  • 4x Predator Ooze - This creature is very good, but it has 2 problems, first is the CMC. It has a CMC of 3 and you have to pay , which makes your early turns very tight, if you don't have a godly mana source. Also, it's effect is good, but rather slow, and in my oppinion it would affect your game plan.

  • 2x Voracious Cobra - sure deathtouch is always nice, but it'a a 2/2, for 4, and you're going aggro with your deck, so by turn 4 you can already have a dragon powerfull enough, so you don't have to worry about your opponent's creatures being very big.

  • 1x Rite of Passage - you already have some great enchantments that can power up your creatures, this card won't bring much to you.

  • 2x Snake Umbra - very expensive for it's effect. A card similar to this, that has a better CMC is Keen Sense.

  • 1x Magmatic Chasm - this is the other card that I would take out. This is a good card for evasion, but since your deck is very aggressive you can overrun your opponent with your big creatures.

With this you have a deck with 60 cards. These would seem to me the cards that I would take out, but this is only my oppinion, feel free to argue and share your thoughts.

Perhaps there will be an uptick in Basilisk Collars on first strike creatures? Maybe mono-white knight tribal with the collar to build-our-own Voracious Cobras will be a thing against all the agro decks.

Now that you have some quality lands, you can start weeding out the sub-par ones!

Find yourself a Rootbound Crag for less than $2 and your manabase will be even tighter. Fungal Reaches, Gruul Guildgate, Kazandu Refuge and Shivan Oasis are all slowwwwww and no longer worth it. You can cut them with your replacements.

Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds are no longer needed. You can either swap them for 2 Forests or a 1/1 split.

You can drop Indrik Stomphowler for Reclamation Sage. It's two turns faster and you won't accidentally blow up your own Enchantments. Indrik is mandatory, RecSage says "may," so the ability is optional.

Another super cheap pickup you should get is Ambush Viper. Unlike Voracious Cobra, who can be killed or played around, A.Viper is a surprise that your opponent won't see until they've already declared an attacker.

Iron Myr might be alright. Elvish Visionary would be great.

There are a plethora of new creatures (a year+ of product) that deserves consideration for this deck. Hit me up when you have ideas and I can make cut suggestions. I see 5-10 bodies that could easily be something else. You can definitely squeeze some fun Eldrazi creatures in here.
