If you put in a red "take an extra attack phase after this one" card you can either attack two opponents OR attack one, murder all his creatures and then attack again while you still have the massive bonus to stats

I don't think you really need Genesis Chamber, Goblin Anarchomancer or Gorm the Great

I wasn't sure if anyone would get the reference :D I modified the deck a little. I don't force blocks but I added Gorilla Berserkers he looks pretty solid.

I'm very sorry for the formatting... I really don't like tapped out. I messed up while transferring the deck from Moxfield. My commander is Kibo, Uktabi Prince. I'm not looking to prevent people from using the artifacts I give them.

+1 for title. I always liked Gorilla Berserkers but if you aren't forcing blocks they are pretty meh.

Who is your commander? Jolene, the Plunder Queen? Hard to see whats going on without a commander listed.

Would Kill Switch be ok? You can turn it on or off at will.

Oh, you guys have some great ideas. My basic desire for the deck is swinging hard with Grunn, the Lonely King or Gorilla Berserkers . Alpha status on the berserkers or bestial fury on the king. I have 3 of Grunn because I wanted to get him out as often as possible. Kind of the Cesar of the deck, all hail the king baby. Not sure yet how I'll implement changes. Equipment and even high tech stuff would be interesting as it is Planet of the Apes. I thought ramp was needed and some of your suggestions were nice. I've been out of Magic for a while that there are so many cards it can overwhelm. Definitely gonna look into some Roar of Challenge , as it will be great with Berserkers or any other big apes. The Lands and land enchantments . . . hmm so good. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I do appreciate all your help here Agrothorn and aogoli. I might finally get my Apes deck running.

Love the tribal theme!

Of course, there are some great tribal and gruul lands you can add, but then it starts getting expensive. I would consider tagging this as a "budget deck"; imo, budget tribal (espically more obsecure creature types) are the best! Really forces for some creative deck building.

I would check out your mana base and decide if Gruul Turf is a really needed. Personally, i'm not a big fan of these cards due to the risk/slow speed, but if you like them, play them!!

I did a few playtests and it plays a bit slower than expected. I would certainly recommend adding a 4th Kird Ape . Are you open to adding mana accelleration? I'm sure there are a few solid ones that won't be too far outside of theme. Oh, have you considered using an Emerald Medallion ?! Monkeys like to steal shiny things!! I think it would create a lot of value. Urza lands would work nice, but I feel it may be too far from the theme.

I think Alpha Status is a "win more" card in this sorta mana heavy/bigger critter deck, where by the time you play it to have value (e.g. 3 or more creatures on the board, for +4/+4), it may be too late or not as rewarding. Now that I look at some of the oracle wording, some apes are now considered a monkey, so they won't help each other out... boo.

For Monkey Cage , maybe cut 1 because I think you will need a lot of mana to guarantee it to give you value e.g. a creature with mana cost 3 or greater.

Man... I so many ideas!

How about Summit Apes !! Those with your Gorilla Berserkers with first strike and/or lure equipment. Viridian Claw , Nemesis Mask <--maybe too slow?? Spells, Roar of Challenge or Declare Dominance <--bonus gorilla art!!

If you go with the Emerald Medallion , maybe swap out Ravenous Baboons for a bigger green one?

Aragon_Neotrix: i like Gorilla Berserkers, good suggestion, thanks. Triumph of the Hordes, however, was only ever printed as an uncommon in New Phyrexia, so it isn't legal in the Pauper format, but I am already using it in my modern gruul infect deck (link in descrip above).

Some options to consider to fit the monkey theme: Monkey Cage - Starts with M and can make many Ape tokens. Zodiac Monkey - Has Monkey in title. Name Dropping- can use ""gotcha" to get back cards from graveyard with Moneky in title. Urza's Hot Tub - can tutor for your favorite monkey. Pack's Disdain - for removal. Riptide Replicator or Volrath's Laboratory - make monkey tokens. Urza's Incubator - monkeys/apes cost 2 less.

These don't start with M and technically are Apes but there aren't many "monkey" cards. Uktabi Kong, Uktabi Orangutan, Gorilla Berserkers, Gorilla Chieftain, Hidden Gibbons, Treetop Village, Side to Side. You can also try Adaptive Automaton, Brass Herald, Door of Destinies or Obelisk of Urd for a Monkey / Ape "Anthem effects". Belbe's Portal to cheat monkeys into play.
