one of the abilities of Norritt is to untap target blue creature. Would that ability affect a gold creature that is partially blue in their casting cost, like Merieke Ri Berit

shadow63 I do have some force combat, maybe not enough. I have Bullwhip Maddening Imp Nettling Imp Norritt Oracle en-Vec Walking Desecration in the deck to force combat so far. And a decent Amount of tutors to find them. I just want to see if I can do it without red, challenge myself.

In addition to the Nettling Imp there are also Maddening Imp and the Norritt just in case you have not seen those. The Norritt targets only a single creature like the siren you listed.

Hey man -- I have a few suggestions. Feel free to ignore any/all of them, as you see fit.

The easiest way to improve the deck, as I see it, is to improve your artifact mana. Mana Crypt and Sol Ring are two of the best, so it's good you're already running them. However, Talisman of Dominance is almost strictly better than Dimir Signet and Talisman of Progress better than Azorius Signet, so I suggest upgrading. Same for Talisman of Hierarchy and Orzhov Signet. I've also never been a fan of three-mana rocks (like Chromatic Lantern), since they compete with your general and they are generally slower than alternatives. Arcane Signet seems better.

Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura allow you to untap your general in response to the activation and steal more than one creature at a time. Aphetto Alchemist is similar but also untaps rocks. If you want to go deep, Norritt.

Drawing cards is also at a premium in EDH. Things like Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise work, as do more permanent effects like Phyrexian Arena. Mystic Remora is a widely unplayed card that is really good for this.

I think Lightning Greaves is worth serious consideration, and I think it is better than the Swiftfoot Boots in your MB. Being able to go turn two greaves into turn three general with haste plus whatever she steals with haste seems pretty good.

Alright. After looking through, I have a few ideas. 1. Instead of stealing other’s artifacts for 4+ mana, perhaps running things like Abrade , Artifact Possession , Copy Artifact , or Bedevil to either create copies of other’s artifacts, or destroy them with more options than what you currently have.

  1. Mana fixing Drowned Catacomb , Dragonskull Summit , Watery Grave , Command Tower , Arcane Signet , Grixis Obelisk, and Grixis Panorama would all help in your ability to cast Bolas on curve.
  2. Holding off the other players.

Wrath of God , Vraska's Contempt , Bontu's Last Reckoning , Cast Down , and Cavalier of Night all keep the board clear while you set up for the victory!

  1. Creatures. Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp , Wall of Stone , Norritt , Chainwhip Cyclops , and Vraska's Finisher are all bad cards. I suggest cards like Nicol Bolas, the Ravager  Flip, Sheoldred, Whispering One , Notion Thief , Archfiend of Depravity , and Massacre Girl could be more beneficial than the current ones you have.

I'm working on my own Merieke deck currently and i found some noticeable cards, even if they increase your curve

Norritt - Untapper with control - but would increase your

Nephalia Smuggler and Adarkar Valkyrie - Blinks opponents creatures to you

Hyena Umbra - Stealer

Apologies for splitting this across two posts.

Here are the cards I would consider cutting based on a cursory look at your deck. Since I am not intimately familiar with your deck, some of these suggestions might be incorrect:

  • Retether - you do not have very many targets for this spell (5 total), reducing its effectiveness.

  • Surestrike Trident requires an absurd amount of mana investment, and provides little utility.

  • Mindcrank is a solid card with good combo abilities, but I did not see anything that directly interacted with it. While you cause significant life loss to trigger Mindcrank, I am not sure it justifies a card slot.

  • Amulet of Vigor does not do much for you, other than provide moderate improvements to your land base and allowing a faster trigger of Sword of the Ages. Fixing your lands would effectively eliminate the need for this card.

  • Hero of Iroas and Kitsune Mystic / Autumn-Tail, Kitsune Sage, like Retether, does not have enough targets to justify inclusion.

  • I do not think Norritt provides enough utility to spend 4 mana on a 1/1.

  • I do not think you have enough targets to justify Panharmonicon either.
