Removed Blightsteel Colossus and Mana Leak.
Added another Phyrexian Metamorph.
Considering adding Havengul Lich and Perilous Myr just for the combo with Heartless Summoning.

More Card Testing
dono_dub, 13 years ago
After testing some more and talking to some guys at my local FNM, I decided to make some more changes to test, which include: - Replacing Djinn of Wishes with a Consecrated Sphinx - Taking out Drogskol Reaver and adding a second Wurmcoil Engine - Moving the Mana Leaks to the sideboard and mainboarding 4x Tragic Slips, as they are much more effective in my local meta

Looks like a Turn 3 Win can also be done:
T1 - Plains, Myr Moonvessel
T2 - Plains, Grinding Station
T3 - Plains, Sacrifice Myr Moonvessel to Grinding Station, cast Enduring Renewal, use a Memnite/Ornithopter from hand

I went 1-2 with my only match win against a shitty Intro Deck piloted by a nice dude. I lost my first match to Esper Control, as I had no way to deal with Curse of Death's Hold. I've boarded Corrupted Resolve to counter that. Also, my deck had mana fixing problems that caused me to get overrun by humans in match 3 (1-2). Now my strategy is to go full combo game one using Ponder and Evolving Wilds to search my library for the pieces to that nice turn 4-5 win. If I'm against a more aggressive deck, I'll slow down, boarding in midrange removal and cheap disruption. Against control decks, I'll play a more aggro-tempo styled strategy to avoid getting my delicate combos picked-off.

So my friend said i couldnt beat him with no creatures other than birds of paradise. I quickly accepted the challenge under the sole condition that there be no limit to the number of birds i can put in my deck. I also agreed to put no other creatures in the deckBLACK AGGRO TEMPO
wang_bu, 13 years ago
you have the aggro black creatures + good removal spells = black aggro tempo!

Gravecrawler Gravecrawler Gravecrawler Gravecrawler
I love Gravecrawler. He's just the kind of face I like to see. A recurring 1-drop who helps defend against board wipes. As long as I didn't just dump my hand onto the field (which I wouldn't do if I know I have a Crawler in the yard). Geralf's Messenger would be a neat toy, too, but my 3-drops are already too big. I'd rather have more Lords.
To make room, I got rid of the Graveborn Muses, because they've yet to give me an advantage, and I don't like them sitting in my hand. I might sideboard 1 in for heavy control decks that have a lot board-wipes. I also took out a Bad Moon (can't play with Aether Vial) and Cemetery Reaper, since I won't need his exile ability as much with Gravecrawler.
I swapped out the Marsh Flats with Isolated Chapels, because I would save a lot of money, and I tend to get the white mana when I need it anyway. Thinning the deck with fetchlands turns out to not be nearly as effective as people believe it is, so I'm happy to trade in and save myself a good $50. :D

Finishing Touch
Crivaro, 13 years ago
I removed 7 cards. Mostly things I regret when I draw them. I need to fill that hole with manafixers and acceleration. But it's quite tough. Are there good blue or colorless manafixers out there that I havn't heard of? The playtesting doesn't went well, it always was the mana. But it can't be so difficult to fix that in a monocolored deck... :D Any suggestions?

Took out the Parallel Lives, one Young Wolf, and land for Kessig Wolf Run and Caravan Vigil. Considering taking out Gutter Grime and renaming the deck...but I'm not sure yet.

I have used the deck against many different decks and has performed great. It is now one of my favorites. Putrefax´s ability to kill with one hit makes the deck very dangerous since whenever there is a chance to hit, you may win the game.

Replaced the Auramancers with Sun Titan and Fiend Hunter.

To better explain this deck. Its a mono black control deck that usually does better late game but its peak is usually turn 4 because of Phyrexian Obliterator and Lashwrithe.
The game plan of this deck is to turn 1 either play Vault Skirge for 2 life (which can later be buffed by Lashwirthe or even Batterskull) or to play despise and get a good look at their hand, see what deck they are playing and get ride of a nasty creature.
Usually turn 2 will be a Spellskite, maybe Vault Skirge, and maybe a kill spell if I find its really needed turn two.
There aren't many three drops in this deck but a great one is Royal Assassin which stops lots of incoming attacks and he is really annoying to get rid of when there is a Spellskite on the battlefield.
Turn 4 is a big one, playing either Phyrexian Obliterator or a Lashwrithe and putting it on a vault skirge that turn swinging as a 5/5 flying life link that only gets bigger.
Turn 5 is generally when things spiral out of control. There are not a lot of 5 drops, but there is Batterskull. this is often a great turn to hold on to mana for things like kill spells.
Turn 6 and 7. If the game does go on this long playing those big bombs in the deck like Massacre Wurm(I know he is sideboard but he is still great) and Sheoldred, Whispering One, are great. Sheoldred is great for bringing back the obliterators if people manage to kill them.
Remember to use Spellskite to keep Phyrexian Obliterator alive, it helps alot! Please remember that nothing is set in stone. If you find that something isn't working, make sure to take it out.
This deck has a plethora of kill spells so usually creature that are a problem die fast. One annoying one that can get in the way though is Mirran Crusader, But he is killable with Black Sun's Zenith. Preferable you can get him with either despise or distress early on and knowing he is pro black and double strike its a good idea to try and play Surgical Extraction on him. This also is great since you can then check their entire deck and figure out what they are playing if you didn't know already.Often people will try to copy the Obliterator so its a good idea to save kill spells for things like that
Sideboard: Just figured I would explain everything and when to use it and what to take out. :)
Massacre Wurm. Probably the easiest one to explain. Side board in two of these guys when your facing lots of small creatures, aggro and token decks, stuff like Jon Finkel's deck if you saw that in the pro tour for dka. I recommend taking out 2 other creatures that are equally big so that way the mana curve remains constant. While it all depends on what deck you are playing against I recomend in most cases to take out Sheoldred, Whispering One and Batterskull.
Ratchet Bomb. This one is another great one for tokens. I Recommend only using it when you are up against tokens. I only have one in the sideboard because I only have one, But I recommend putting in two more replacing the twoEntomber Exarchs. The Entomber Exarchs are only in there for getting ride of pesky Inkmoth Nexus but more often than not it is already on the field and aren't helpful. Either way, if you find yourself fighting a token deck or creatures with a certain mana cost put in 1-3 Ratchet Bombs replacing 2 Black Sun's Zenith(they act as a cheaper and more effective black sun) and a Victim of Night.
Black Sun's Zenith. While Ratchet Bomb is great for killing tokens and other small creatures, Sometimes you will find yourself needing a board wipe for stronger creatures. This is when you side in black sun. Another time to side it in, is if you find that your opponent has a good deal of artifact hate. Its not fun to lose Ratchet Bombs or having them force you to use it before you can get enough counters. Side in 2 Black Sun's Zenith for 2 Victim of Night. If you find you really need the kill spells take out a Surgical Extraction and a Despise.
Grafdigger's Cage and Nihil Spell Bomb. Another easy one to explain, use these guys against decks from the graveyard. This hurts quite a few decks, but the two big ones are the new aggro zombie decks with Gravecrawler and the delver/spirt decks since they cannot use Snapcaster Mage effectively. When siding them in take out Black Sun's Zenith and another Victim of Night.
Bloodline Keeper Flip. He is an all round great card, If you find your creatures keep getting Vapor Snaged or you just need more creatures in general Bloodline Keeper will help with that and can be a great win condition if he manages to flip.
Bloodgift Demon. If you find yourself playing a control deck and you end up top drawing too much Bloodgift Demon is great for this. He is a tricky one to figure out what to take out. I usually do Batterskull since i doesn't disrupt the mana curve, but if you find something better take that out instead.
Tragic Slip. This card is great for killing Inkmoth Nexus and any big bomb creatures. I always take out Victim of Night for them. If you find yourself playing against a deck that is all zombies, werewolves or vampires, Do this, but also switch out the other two Victim of Nights for the Wurmcoil Engine and Bloodline Keeper Flip.
I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I also love suggestions and +1 if you like the deck. I have had good success with if before, but with these recent tweaks I think it can now play on a much higher level.

Well, I made this deck for casual play. It would need some serious mana acceleration for it to be used in a competitive setting. Although, allow me to clearly demonstrate some fun little combinations.
Greatbow Doyen and Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile.
Thornweald Archer and Archery Training.
Patrol Signaler and Hankyu.
Hope Ya'll like it. Feel free to Comment with suggestions.
