Got 3rd out of 20 at local FNM

First Match: Win; Blue Black Control - This was a pretty easy match up. He could do nothing to stop my creatures or spells. I was too quick.

Second Match: Loss; Black Infect - I did fine until he pulled out Phyrexian Crusader then it was all over. Both times. Not too sure how to counter that, perhaps Dismember.

Third Match: Win; Wolf Run Ramp (Red, Green) - Very close matchups. I managed to burn one Primeval Titan but then he managed to get another so it was game over. Next I was able to burn him quickly, Shock his Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip right away. Next I used traitorus blood on his Primeval Titan and won.

Fourth Match: Win; Blue White Control - This was hard. He board wiped often so I learned the lesson to only play what I need here. He would also abuse Timely Reinforcements but I managed to beat him with Shrine of Burning Rage mixed with Volt Charge and Stromkirk Noble

Gambit, 13 years ago

16 players, trying to get the LAST Despise FNM promo

4 rounds.

Round 1, Game 1: OMG! You don't know how much this deck was milling me SOOOOOOOOOO HARD! Wow, this was amazing! I was mana screwed, I did have have 2x Island on hand so I knew I could do something be it countering or something. This B/U Milling machine had few creatures on board, I mean, I'm living off a of 2 Island for the majority, and either used Mana Leak to his Grave Titan which was a HUGE lifesaver! He was living of successful attacks coming from Walking Corpse and that CRAZY Mindcrank. He was sooooo close but when I got Evolving Wilds I ended up using Incinerate, that is when the offense ceased! Then, got a Sulfur Falls and was the beginning of the end for my foe. I ended up burning him to death with 2 life and 14 cards in my library. THAT was a SERIOUS close call! 1-0

Round 1, Game 2: Since I saw a lot of inexperience, I just didn't change my SB, and neither did he. This game, I had a nice hand, cards and easily burned and used Insectile Aberation easily. Nothing crazy to note. 2-0

Round 2, Game 1: This guy was using a friends deck, he was from what I saw a Zombie deck. NOTE: this game was waaaaaaaaaaaay toofast! I saw Gravecrawler, meet Red Sun's Zenith, 2x Insectile Aberation was doing LOTS of damage from from the skies, and later ANOTHER Gravecrawler came. Hey! I have another Red Sun's Zenith in my hand! Ended up burning/beating then he just scooped it for a game 2. Since, there wasn't to many creatures, I wasn't sure if he had tons of removal or anything, so I decided not to change anything. 3-0

Round 2, Game 2: This was almost a fraternal twin of game 1. Anytime he tried summoning something, I ended up Psychic Barrier and lots Chandra's Phoenix, in the end there was 3 Chandra's Phoenix. This guy was based and mad on the ground. 4-0

Round 3, Game 1: This deck was woke me up! I'm not going to lie if I see Geist of Saint Thraft, then I'll start waking up! It came in late, we both kept on countering each other, EXCEPT, he had Gut Shot with 2 life, I ended up finding out that this guy was undefeated, so I instantly kept Chandra's Phoenix on defense and just let 2x Insectile Aberation as my main offense, we kept on countering each other and in the end I was hitting too hard with a well earned win and the lovely Brimstone Volley! 5-0

Round 3, Game 2: Since I saw oh SO MANY spirit tokens, I kept my Arc Trail and tossed out Red Sun's Zenith as well as some of my draw makers and put in Slagstorm and lots of Negate. Wow was that a good switch! Slagstorm not only cleared the board but, I was able to go Brimstone Volley, he was losing it! I ended up having Chandra's Phoenix to stop those tokens and when the tokens ganged up on Chandra's Phoenix I ended up Brimstone Volley again. 6-0

Round 4, Game 1: So this is it! I'm told that if I do bad, then, I'll possibly be in 4th, so I'm not sweating that, I just wanted to get the promo first! Now, I saw lots of vamps and Signal Pest and Stormkirk Noble which was easily Arc Trail a big saving grace! Every turn, every turn a vamp would get Red Sun's Zenith even the captains! After all is done, he stopped sending in creatures, you know what THAT MEANS! Chandra's Phoenix was dropped with Go for the Throat but, Gut Shot got 2x of them back. I ended up making a comeback from 7 life and won! 7-0

Round 4, Game 2: I switched for Slagstorm that and Arc Trail seriously clears most of the board. I had a bad hand, his creatures flew into a win. I was able to counter so much, didn't get a 3rd Mountain, Snapcaster Mage proved to do so many Mana Leak, but his Gut Shot severed any ground defense and let Signal Pest go nuts. 7-1

Round 4, Game 3: When Falkrenrath Aristocrat, I didn't even care about the buff, I instantly Brimstone Volley just to keep some order like NOW, Slagstorm emptied the floor and so we were waiting for ANYTHING, but ended up being too late and we both got a tie. WTF! Lol, when he did get a captain, I Psychic Barrier it just to chip down his life, but it wasn't enough. So, 7-1-x.

I ended up getting the TOP SPOT! Woohoo! Thanks for suggestions all!

This deck has changed a lot since it's beginning. Most notably is the addition of a new, and most welcome, color to the build, Green. For now, the build will stay void of all creature spells, and will stay Legacy legal from now on, no sol rings. The purpose of the build will stay the same, to stall til tokens can be spammed with Luminarch Ascension. Though, with the addition of green, there are more options, such as the possible inclusion of Beastmaster Ascension. If anyone has a good win condition that would work along with a completely enchantment deck of these colors, with the base cards (such as Ghostly prison and Propaganda) intact in the build, Please comment. I will respond to your comments as soon as possible.

I've made some adjustments, mainly balancing the deck out.

Now with even MORE hate!

PsymonM77, 13 years ago

Have altered the removal spells to take on more of the higher powered spirit decks I've been seeing. With Whipflare not cutting it versus two Drogskol Captains and some spirits, had to step up the damage with some Slagstorm backup. Three is proving to be a solid number of damage to throw around the board. Just under my Thrun, the Last Troll, but still hitting that flipped Delver, pair of captains, Mirran Crusader with Honor of the Pure. Ghost Quarter to the sideboard for pesky Inkmoth Nexus, which I'm sure will be a lot more prevalent with the relatively cheap event decks being released, and are already a pain. A mainboard Ancient Grudge deals with so much it had to be there, and a full set of Viridian Emissarys are taking over the early ramp done previously by Birds of Paradise, who, while will be missed, made early curves have some awkward decisions. Hope you guys appreciate the updates, and looking forward to more positive feedback!

Okay....so this week didn't go as well as the last, I don't know if it was just luck of the draw or what, but the deck seemed to flop slightly, not as much came out of it as the first time, I went 1-3 altogether, I will write up matchup's soon, but for now I want to go through the biggest change to the deck, the removal of white from the list. Now I love white, it's probably one of my favourite colours in magic, but the way I had fit it into this deck just didn't feel right, so I am taking it out, with the following changes being made Land -all white land +1 evolving wilds 6-8 balance of swamp to forest ratio (in consideration) +2 grim backwoods, the card draw would be nice Creatures +3 Strangleroot Geists, these guys are a beating and a half, I know they need GG on turn 2, but they just lay down the beats so hard, especially on the play Non-Creature Spells +1 liliana of the veil, the all star of the deck in many ways, turns out my opponents don't often top deck as well as I do +1 Green Sun's Zenith, with the shift more towards green creatures, this is invaluable so a third was added +2 Black Sun's Zenith, pretty much a black replacement for day of judgment, it makes me sad to set my full art day of judgments aside, but I think it must be done Sideboard -2 divine offering, without white this card is useless -2 Ray of Revelation, See above -2 Celestial Purge, again, see above +2 Corrosive Gale, I hate delver +2 Acidic Slime, the extra green sun's zenith makes this my noncreature permanent remover of choice +2 Autumn's Veil, I hate delver So guys, thats my changes for this week, I'll post up match reports later

Switch to Grixis

CrushU, 13 years ago

This is VERY similar to the list that Cableguy made. Grixis Control (Revised)

Decided that he made a lot of very good points, and I didn't want to give up my Acts when going to U/B Control...

I really like Charmbreaker Devils. He doubles a lot of my good spells, I might even run Vengeance... Can't find any Chandra, the Firebrand.

Looking over the list, it seems like it might be a little unfocused. I will test it a bit tonight and get some feedback... In the meantime, comments are much appreciated!

Swapped the Thraben Doomsayers for Hero of Bladehold. A little more aggressive.

More unblockable creatures

Artful Dodge - Puede ser interesante, para conseguir que tus criaturas hagan daño de veneno y se engorden. Ademas el fashback te permite reutilizarla más de una vez

The Cards I currently have

syzygy027, 13 years ago

I have updated and messed with the deck so that it now reflects the cards I have in my possession (Cemetery Reaper is hard to find.). Again additional comments are appreciated, and thank you to everyone who has commented so far.

To Block or not to Block

kikeiros, 13 years ago

Cards advantage

kikeiros, 13 years ago

Faithless Looting - Quizas puedas descartarte de un par de tierras, y cambiarlas por otra cosa. En realidad no se necesita mucho mana para que el mazo funcione

Update #2

The Messian, 13 years ago

Got rid of most of the blue counters, they were just slowing the deck down. Deck is now mostly black with blue for some of the gold creatures. Should be a bit faster as a result.

MLBurt, 13 years ago

felt like this deck needed more targeted removal, so I tossed in the fantastic Tragic Slip from DKA. Also took out two Sign in Blood for two Altar's Reap. I feel like too much of either would be unhealthy for the deck.

Played at a local standard night and had some success going 3-1, losing due to keeping a bad hand then not drawing any useful bombs. Looking for help with the sideboard and a couple of mainboard tweeks. All comments welcome, Thanks!

Oblivion Ring feature for WGRAMP

Slight Breakdown:

Tobosh04, 13 years ago

Skeletal Grimace is meant to keep the Reapers in play. Lots of removal, and after burning through the instants Runechanter's Pike is even more enhanced. A little of a first strike theme going on with some of the creatures and artifacts, used for both offensive and defensive purposes. Really scared of protection from black cards due to this being a monocolored build (thought about splashing another color as a contingency) so I hope that "Call to the Grave" will help me force a one sided scenario where my opponent has to sacrifice those creatures that I can't kill. Preferably, I use my draw mechanic found in "Altar's Reap" to get rid of "Skinrender," draw my two cards, and bring the creature back into my hand with "Disentomb," then play it again to reactivate it's ability. Although of course, I can just get rid of an expendable zombie token to draw. Constructive feedback appreciated.

Switched out many control elements for more of an aggro approach. Creature mana curve caps at 3cmc. All creatures also are human, and thus benefit either Champion of the Parish or Avacyn's Collar.

I would like some feedback on this deck, I have played it against other decks made on the site, it has only lost against one out of the seven.

The point of the deck...

syzygy027, 13 years ago

Thank you everyone for the great feedback, it has helped. Also to explain a little bit further about what my point is behind the deck... I love milling people with the Undead Alchemist so I wanted to make a standard deck for him, so that's what the Curse of the Bloody Tome and Dream Twist is for, and the Endless Ranks of the Dead is there to make a massive army (that will hopefully be really boosted thanks to Cemetery Reaper and Diregraf Captain) so that I can just attack with a lot of zombies and still be able to get through with some damage. Also with all of the milling going on I have a good chance of getting an even bigger army out, but that is mostly based on luck if I'm hoping for Undead Alchemists ability. And I know that completely counters the Cemetery Reaper's ability, but he's really in there for his zombie boost, and if I get some of the minor zombies in my graveyard I can discard them with him, and pull out the good ones with Ghoulraiser. And I had to put in a couple of Call to the Grave because it's nothing but zombies, if I added anything else, like Laboratory Maniac I would have to get rid of it.
