Direction

crimson_shade, 11 years ago

The current direction of the deck is to run some heavy mana ramp and big beast creatures and Advocate of the Beast to further power them up along with bloodrush for some combat tricks.

Post-BNG Updates

I decided I wanted more draw so I looked for the cards I needed the least. I put in one Mind's Eye over Oversold Cemetery because the Cemetery didn't really trigger all that much beneficially. I am trying out Toil // Trouble over Mimic Vat right now. Toil // Trouble doubles as consistency and a win con so it might be better than the temptation to use non-Dragon creatures. I also have added in a Temple of Malice over Temple of the False God. There were too many times I either needed colored sources or just couldn't draw into a 5th land to cast Temple of the False God so that was an easy switch.

Fast paced win!

Zacoly, 11 years ago

I was playing around with the Play-Tester and I managed to get 3 infinitely powerful attackers ready to swing ON turn 4 with "Vigilance" Using only Priest of Titania + 1 cheap elf + Umbral Mantle + Elvish Archdruid. Add Garruk, Primal Hunter to the "infinite buffing" combo and it would be possible to draw as many cards as you please.

Point being:

This deck can combo into a win VERY early.

Added sideboard+ouphes

jimlandiaman, 11 years ago

Added a sideboard to deal with some modern threats, specifically Savage Summoning to get myr landshaper or glissa out without having to deal with counterspells. Dryad Militant is a counter to Snapcaster Mage, which sees way too much play. I also added Brown Ouphe so I can use it with my coat to counter activated abilities, bud didn't main all of them because I'm not sure how effective it will be. I also removed 2 Sculpting Steel, but will probably re-add them to the sideboard soon.

Added: Decree of Pain; Call to the Grave Subtracted: Hex, Increasing Ambition

GETxHIPFIREDx, 11 years ago

removed Experiment One x4 for 1 Swamp , 1 Forest , 1 Advent of the Wurm and 1 Putrefy . I added a putrefy just because killing creatures late game really helps. still looking for suggestions to try.

Will be Adding some number of Skylasher to my sideboard

i always seem to get beat out by the green red monsters deck. Most of everything else besides control variations; other than that im good.

THANKS FOR ALLL OF THE HELP TUNING

What's better than having lightning strikes? Warleader's Helix's!

So yeah, -2x Lightning Strike, +2x Warleader's Helix

otimmyg, 11 years ago

Just found a Reckoner and discovered the amazing card that is Thunderous Might.

Enter Talrand

ShazamTho, 11 years ago

Due to my growing need of at least some removal, and my love of Talrand who can now fit, I will be adding Talrand, Sky Summoner, Simic Charm, Curse of the Swine, Savage Summoning, and Cyclonic Rift. The cards dropped are Krasis Incubation (Which is a shame, I love that card, Descendants' Path, Bow of Nylea, Riptide Replicator and gasp Prophet of Kruphix. With the handful of new instants and sorceries at my disposal I should be able to get at least a few drakes out with Talrand which will be nice with my otherwise lack of flyers, and put doubling season to better use. Cyclonic rift is obvious, it can get rid of most of the board for me, although I don't have one yet so I am subbing devestation tide until then. Savage summoning is a cantrip I have always been quite a fan of, it helps get creatures out and they come slightly stronger. Simic charm does a variety of things I am a fan of. And finally curse of the swine is kind of like a more expensive mas Rapid Hybridization which I am kind of bummed to not make room for. Future goals for this deck: squeeze Propaganda back in, get a hold of Lightning Greaves to replace swiftfoot boots, decide if I really need coat of arms and door of destinies, construct a sideboard, foil this deck silly, and wait for something cool from Journey to Nyx.

Retic, 11 years ago

because I don't know how to simulate me always playing the borderpost's alternate casting cost, I'll be putting in "rakdos guildgate" in the mteantime. :) Thanks!
PAU 1 / 2

Retic, 11 years ago

The only reason why I placed "Arrogant Bloodlord" is because I don't know how to ensure tappout.net always simulates that I'll always play Gatekeeper of Malakir with its kicker cost! :) Added guul draz vampire for more aggro

Just some cards for consideration

TheGodofNight, 11 years ago

I am currently entertaining Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Courser of Kruphix. Courser of Kruphix can help you cycle through the land in your deck if you play it right, which lets you curve into your draw a lot more. Conversely, Ajani, Caller of the Pride just wins you games with his second ability. What's that? Give a Mistcutter Hydra with 7 counters on flying and double strike until end of turn. Yeah, that just happened. As I tinker with this deck, post draft cycle of BNG, I will let you know what I think of both of these powerhouses. Happy gaming!

First Update

isaac1337, 11 years ago

Added a nice control package for the sideboard, to alter based on what the opponent is doing.

Also tweaked the mana base, slightly, dropping from two Azorius Guildgate to one.

I am toying with Ephara's Enlightenment. I like it, because it does seem like a nice Heroic Enabler, but I think there are better ones, and I think I might be running them.

FNM Results

BoromirOfGondor, 11 years ago

2nd place at FNM Debut.

Round 1: Bye

2-0 Win.

Round 2: Orzhov Aggro - Basically a White Weenie deck splashing black for Cartel Aristocrat and Desecration Demon, very similar to Paul Rietzl's Pro Tour Theros deck. Game 1 was easy, I curved out nicely with a play every turn, culminating in a lethal Ghor-Clan Rampager Bloodrush. Game 2 was almost exactly the same, he dropped a Desecration Demon but I overran him quickly with my haste creatures and the Rampager.

2-0 win.

Round 3: Gruul Midrange - A very powerful combination of hard-hitting haste creatures and lifegain via the new Courser of Kruphix and the classic Scavenging Ooze. I couldn't keep up with him. He went on to get 1st place.

0-2 Loss.

Round 4: Mono-White heroic lifegain - Against any other deck, he probably would have won, but my burn spells kept him from catching up to me in the race.

2-0 Win.

Round 5: Gruul Monsters - This guy spends absurd amounts of money on his decks, and usually brings a new one every week. I was almost positive that he was going to destroy me, but because he usually only had one creature on the board at a time, Burning-Tree Emissary into Firefist Striker killed him both games. Polukranos, World Eater isn't so useful when he can't block, now is he? Needless to say, he was not happy.

2-0 Win.

Overall, I took 2nd place and got 7 packs. I pulled great stuff, including Kiora, the Crashing Wavefoil and the aforementioned Courser of Kruphix. More updates after next FNM.

Currently running 3 genesis wave instead of chord of calling, in order to keep the cost lower

tidofresh, 11 years ago

tried to get the walkers out faster, took out the verdicts, put em in the side. i have had very good results with this preboard, and i only think post board is better. im going to be able to turn it into a flash deck or a stronger control version of the same, as this is now leaning towards bant walkers than anything else
