Conquers of the Golden City:

When the sun of Ixalan dips just below the horizon, all the land its light touches becomes awash in radiant golden hues. As dusk descends, immortal conquistadors clad in golden armor come ashore on foreboding caravels. This expedition to Ixalan is the latest in an endless string of bloodthirsty voyages to be sponsored by their queen, who acts in conjunction with the divine authority of the Church of Dusk. The Legion of Dusk has landed, and they seek the blood of the impure to grant themselves eternal youth. With the righteous might of their armies, the golden city will be theirs. And it will run red with blood.

Deck Strategies:

1. Your conquistadors converge on the field as a massive army. Foot soldiers like Vicious Conquistador, Martyr of Dusk, and Duskborne Skymarcher may not be individually strong but they are cheap enough to swarm the field en-masse. Cards like Queen's Commission and Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle also supply you steadily with vampire tokens. This gives you an easy time attaining the coveted City's Blessing for cards with "Ascend" like Vona's Hunger and Radiant Destiny.

2. Sustain yourself with the blood of your enemies. The vampire tokens have Lifelink and can replenish your life through combat, and some cards like Sanctum Seeker have various lifegain effects. Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose can even weaponize this strategy, furthering your lead as you gain life. Your strongest asset is the ability to deal damage that opponents can neither defend against nor prevent.

3. With a tireless army and ongoing lifegain at your disposal, you're well equipped to enter the late stages of the game on solid footing as your deck focuses on consistency and card advantage. Twilight Prophet and Endless Atlas can secure you an extra card each turn, and others like Ancient Craving and Champion of Dusk can replenish your hand after an exhaustive play. Arguel's Blood Fast   allows you to exchange your accumulated life total for additional draw power.

4. Conquer the opposition by building your army effectively. Vampiric Tutor and Forerunner of the Legion can search out key Vampires like Mavren Fein, Vito, or Sanctum Seeker to use on your next turn. Forerunner also strengthens himself or another Vampire for a turn whenever your army grows (this effect works especially well with Mavren on the field). Legion Conquistador takes to the field and immediately lets you search for up to two more, which can be handy if your running low on bodies.

5. Vona, Butcher of Magan showcases the ruthless power of the deck. Many vampires (due to their low cost) have low power and toughness but of the four decks this one is still the most focused on destroying creatures; kill spells like Divine Verdict and Bright Reprisal can take down daunting foes regardless of how tough they are. Elenda, the Dusk Rose and Legion Vanguard can even benefit from your own creatures dying.
