Maybeboard

My first attempt at brewing a command deck from scratch.

Plan A is to suit up Bruenor into an unstoppable stompy death robot. If that fails, plan B is to generate a pile of mana from rituals and treasure that I can dump into Inferno or Banefire. Any suggestions or improvements are welcome.

Potential Combos:

Aggravated Assault + Sword of Feast and Famine can produce infinite mana once you have at least six lands and a way to get combat damage through.

Umezawa's Jitte + Inferno of the Star Mounts can dome opponents for 20 for each counter on Jitte. If you can get inferno to 20, you can remove a counter from jitte to bring it back down to 19 and then pay to bring the power back up to 20 and activate the trigger again. Combine this with the previous combo for infinite damage.

Birgi, God of Storytelling   + Grinning Ignus + Runaway Steam-Kin A slightly more complicated infinite mana combo. Start with Birgi and Steamkin in play and at least mana available.

  1. Cast Ignus. Adds and a Steamkin counter
  2. Use the floating to return Ignus to hand and generate
  3. Repeat 1 and 2 until Steamkin has 3 counters
  4. Remove the counters from Steamkin for
  5. Repeat as needed adding an additional 3 mana to your pool for each complete loop.

Birgi, God of Storytelling   + Grinning Ignus + Hazoret's Monument/Brighthearth Banneret Same as above, but rather than relying on Steamkin to generate net positive mana, we use Monument to make Grinning Ignus cheaper. This results in each return to hand generating more mana than what it costs to replay. As an added bonus, the second half of Monument adds infinite looting to the loop. The downside is that unlike the Steamkin combo this only produces colorless mana. It still works for Banefire or Crackle but you can't use it to activate Inferno.

Birgi, God of Storytelling   + Grinning Ignus + Helm of the Host Similar to the previous combos but this time we are cloning Birgi to produce extra mana.

  1. Play Birgi, God of Storytelling   and Helm of the Host
  2. Equip the helm onto Birgi.
  3. Move to combat and create a copy of Birgi using Helm. Note that we don't actually need to declare any attackers, the copy happens at the beginning of combat.
  4. In main phase two, cast Grinning Ignus. Both Birgis trigger, generating .
  5. Use one of the floating to return Ignus generating . The result is floating mana.
  6. Repeat the above steps adding an additional to your mana pool each time.
