Favorite non meta creature

I call him the green ranger. The Daybreak Ranger  Flip very hard to stop. 2 colorless 1 green wearwolf. A 2-2 that taps and deals 2 damage to a flyer. When transformed he pays a red to fight another creature. Even if the opponent cast 2 spells he can do his ability before he transforms back. And a red and green killer is pretty rare. Get him going early and its over!!!

Daybreak Ranger  Flip?

I personally like Search for Azcanta  Flip a lot. I think it can be considered for any deck with blue, tbh

Definitely a good card!!! Ive never seen it. Seems better than Thasa if you want to scry every turn. Also can have graveyard manipulation. Blue and black fo sho.

I love Willow Satyr, always a fun play in EDH, makes nobody want to cast their commanders!

I will never not love playing Thermo-Alchemist in any format.

"Ping everyone for 1"

"Cast Light Up the Stage"

"Untap my alchemist"

"Ping everyone for one again"

"Cast Warlord's Fury from exile"

"Untap my alchemist" ....

If only I could make that my commander. It's a 0/3 Defender, but it single-handedly will kill players <3

Thornweald Archer - Reach, Deathtouch He will hold many opponents at bay for quite a while until I can build a boardstate.

And not a creature, but Devout Invocation. I LOVE it in the Selesnya builds I favor. Suddenly your army of 0/1 plants or 1/1 saprolings or whatever are now protected by an army of Angels.

One of my all-time favorite creatures would have to be Coretapper. Tap him, add a charge counter. Sac him, add two charge counters. Throw him into a Mimic Vat, and suddenly whatever artifact you have that requires removing 3 charge counters can be done once a turn, every turn for 3 mana! Destroy target permanent(Lux Cannon)? Pay 3 mana. Create a 9/9 Golem(Titan Forge)? Pay 3 mana. Take an extra turn(Magistrate's Scepter)? Pay 3 mana! Honestly, whenever I see decks that want charge counters that aren't running Coretapper, it boggles my mind!

December 9, 2020 12:21 p.m.

IKILLEVERYONE says... #11

Yeah no doubt. I had lux cannon in my new deck but replaced it with argentum armor. I didnt have enough charge counter artifacts so it was taking to slow 1 at a time.

I'm not sure what constitutes "meta' but Ruin Raider goes in all of my decks and I'm the only one in my playgroup that runs it.

Llanowar Tribe and Somberwald Sage are crazy efficient (though greedy) ramp.

People scoff at greedy/vulnerable cards like that, but even if they stick one round a lot of times that's enough value to put you way ahead. And if you load your whole deck with greedy powerful shenanigans, sooner or later something sticks.

December 9, 2020 3:53 p.m.

IKILLEVERYONE says... #13

Its like a lesser Dark Confidant, which is a meta card in my opinion. I main green so i cant risk taking 6 life from drawing a titan. Somberwald sage tho is dope

Peligrad says... #14

I have a Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire deck that runs a ton of haste enablers and dorks that I target with his trigger to upgrade them into threats or less vulnerable permanents (like lands).

It's so satisfying when someone Cyclonic Rifts the board and you use mana dorks plus a haste enabler like Lightning Greaves to replay your entire hand since your dorks produce the same amount of mana as they cost making them free plays.

I would consider any card under 50$, a card you never really see. An underrated card with a usefull ability. Like Torpor Orb, all my decks almost revolve around that card. My new cascade sliver deck most definitely.

That is cool. Not quite as devastating as Phyrexian Obliterator, but still cool.

Reminds me of one time a guy had a Serene Master on the board and it gave me all kinds of trouble.

I need the Phyrexian Obliterator for my devotion deck. Op.

I’ve always loved Ob Nixilis, the Fallen.

Bloodthrone Vampire is probably the card I’ve cast the most that I never see anyone else cast though. I love that girl...she’s so thirsty.

For White: Preacher. My all time favorite white creature. This guy has gotten more popular over the years but I never saw it in anyone else's deck until commander got popular. The fact you make them choose just sweetens how messed up this card is.
For Blue: Horseshoe Crab. People don't throw removal at it, until they've seen what I do with it.
For Red: Spikeshot Goblin: It is so easy to make this guy oppressive and it's activation is 1 mana. Combined with Grafted Wargear this goblin is better than Lightning Bolt.
For Black: Festering Goblin. It can 2 for 1 early game and sometimes screws combat math for surprise kills of creatures.
For Green:Fertilid has become less unmeta but great card. I even have combo decks built around abusing this guy.

For Multicolor: Swarm Guildmage. No one remembers or hears when you say +1/+0 and menace.
For Multicolor: Tamanoa. This card screams at you to abuse it. I have half a dozen decks abusing this card. Outside of my immediate playgroup

Spikeshot Goblin with my Illuna, Apex of Wishes would be bomb. Instead im using Spikeshot Elder need to use both

@MindAblaze; Nantuko Husk is my OG go to card to fit the role of your Bloodthrone Vampire. They are great sacrifice outlets along with a Viscera Seer.

@IKILLEVERYONE; One thing I do like about the Spikeshot Elder is that it's repeatable and only limited by available mana. It is an awkward cost with 2 mountains as the base so can be limited depending on your mana base. But it can dish some big numbers quickly depending on the rest of a deck.

December 9, 2020 9:41 p.m.

Soul Scourge will never disappoint. It has single handedly won me an innumerable amount of game. Has some fun tricks with targeting yourself with the ability and using something that doubles life gain too, I've never tried that though.

December 9, 2020 11:01 p.m.

Peligrad says... #26

MagicMarc oh man Nantuko Husk is old school. I remember doing nutty shenanigans with both that and Mogg Fanatic back before the combat damage rules change.

Back in the days of "tuck" I remember seeing that card a decent amount too. Sac outlets like Goblin Bombardment and Helm of Possession saw a lot more play because of tuck.

My brothers favorite creature is Mirror-Sigil Sergeant. We had an epic battle once. I had a 13-13 double strike trampel lifelink still couldnt stop him from duplicating. He ended up with hundreds of mirror sigil. Really good creature.

Man, that's a sick card that I've never heard of.

Would be pretty epic with Sphinx of the Second Sun and/or Paradox Haze

Wow. Yeah we need those.

December 10, 2020 2:33 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #30

From a Vorthos/Creative perspective, a White Blue deck built around Rhinos is funny. Flying Rhinos with Archetype of Imagination. Other good options would be Growing Ranks and Followed Footsteps.

It's not budget but Moat + Archetype of Imagination in play with the Mirror-Sigil Sergeant would make anybody happy. Could budget replace with Island Sanctuary or similar.

Though just Flying Chubby Unicorns works too...

December 10, 2020 3:21 p.m.

Peligrad says... #31

There's Magus of the Moat as well

December 10, 2020 3:24 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #32

Thats a better option, Peligrad, with lower price and not losing your draw.

Even more funny would be casting Followed Footsteps on the magus instead of the chubby unicorns.

Stormtide Leviathan is also an alternative Moat to combine with Archetype of Imagination, although a bit more expensive in mana.

Primalcrux fight me, oh wait I've got the biggest creature you've ever seen

Not only does it have awesome flavour text, not only does it have one of the funniest casting costs I've ever seen, but It's huge, and will become enormous in any deck you care to mention.

Immolating Souleater my fav!!

Turn 1 Sol Ring into Immolating Souleater
Turn 2 swing with Tainted Strike

thats one example
i run about 15 ways to remove a player on t2 using Immolating Souleater
but even late game its easy to make a 1/1 unblock able with infect

December 16, 2020 10:13 a.m.

MagicMarc says... #38

Even without infect the Immolating Souleater can be a great finisher. People always forget about pump creatures until you make them unblockable or give them evasion and smash face.

People also sometimes forget that you can always just spend colored mana instead of spending life.
