Tatyova Landfall Sacrifice

Casual Budget GU (Simic) Landfall Sacrifice

Pample1

Hello!

Hope you are having a lovely day! This deck is pretty straight forward: sacrifice some lands with cards like Harrow to get more lands and play the sacrificed lands from the graveyard with Ramunap Excavator. This triggers lots of landfall effects so you can win with Avenger of Zendikar or Rampaging Baloths. The early game is pretty weak (until you get one of the wincons down). I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible cuz im broke :). Below are my notes for this deck as it's certainly a work in progress. All advice is welcome!

Thoughts On Current Deck:

  • Territorial Scythecat: Makes early game feel much better. Takes pressure off drawing wincons.
  • Explore: feels really good, maybe my new favourite card lol
  • Scythe Leopard: Adds some early game pressure - can easily-ish have a 4/4 on your turn 3
  • Evolving Wilds: Getting 2 landfall triggers is really nice, especially with Ramunap Excavator and Explore to get 4 triggers in one turn. Would be nice if tutored land didn't come in tapped lol
  • Harrow: The two lands coming in being untapped is really nice lol
  • Currently, there are only basic lands aside form Evolving Wilds since the tutors only get basic lands. Not sure if this is correct.
  • Tatyova, Benthic Druid: lets you draw crazy amount of cards. More thoughts below
  • Should look to see if there's any interesting blue cards worth experimenting with.
  • Currently only card to interact with the opponents board is Sarkhan's Resolve. Is this enough?
  • I'm not sure if Avenger of Zendikar and Rampaging Baloths are the best win cons.

Cards I've Tried:

  • The Gitrog Monster: good, costs a couple dollars
  • Oran-Rief Hydra: Good, costs a few extra dollars, trample is nice. Easy target for removal. Makes it feel suboptimal to splash other colours.
  • Undergrowth Recon: okay, costs a couple dollars. Annoying when it steals the last land in the graveyard away from Ramunap Excavator so it comes in tapped (if you don't have another land to play in your hand. Granted a niche scenario, but still annoying). Also probably worse without The Gitrog Monster
  • Elvish Visionary: Filler, didn't do much. Mid/late game gave too much draw.
  • Redrock Sentinel: Felt like a "win more" card since it feels bad to sacrifice a land without getting any in return without an established board (even with the treasure + draw card).
  • Springbloom Druid: Slower than Harrow and doesn't provide meaningful defence.
