You should have! I decided to go back and update my Marwyn, the Nurturer deck and add a primer. This is the deck that everyone hates in my playgroup, but I love. It's fast, stompy, and with my favorite tribe! Elves!
So let's go over why elves are the best tribe real quick. I like them because they generate a ton of mana, and you get a lot of them out really quickly. They also pair really well with card draw engines for that reason. Also, Llanowar Elves are absolute madlads. This deck is pretty budget, and you can swap out a bunch of the more expensive stuff and it's still good.
Most strategies and synergies are based off of Marwyn, the Nurturer tapping for a ton of mana and casting more elves. Hold all your elves in hand until you cast Marwyn, because you will miss out on counters if you don't. Certain elves are ok to be played on turn one, like Llanowar Elves or Arbor Elf . Essence Warden is a good turn 1 as well.
Jungle Basin . I'm sorry, do other lands tap for two mana??? I don't think so.
Wirewood Symbiote , Vitalize , Burst of Strength , Seeker of Skybreak , Gift of Growth : The untappy bois. Play these when you need to untap Marwyn for additional mana. It's the best feeling ever when you're out of mana and your battlefield is full of elves, your opponents go "Phew, at least I can finally take my turn", then you cast one of these. Their faces just drop. Primordial Sage , Beast Whisperer , Soul of the Harvest , Regal Force , Shamanic Revelation , Vanquisher's Banner , Zendikar Resurgent , Soul's Majesty , Guardian Project , Sylvan Messenger : Mono Green card draw. These cards are invaluable because they refill your hand and let you continue to play elves. Without them, the deck wouldn't function nearly as well. Elvish Archdruid , Wirewood Channeler : Alternate Marwyns. If your opponent removes Marwyn, these elves will let you keep generating large amounts of mana without her. If used in conjunction with Marwyn, they can substantially increase the amount of mana at your disposal. Llanowar Elves , Elvish Mystic , Arbor Elf : Turn 2 Marwyn enablers. These are probably the most powerful cards in the deck if you get them in your opening hand. Getting Marwyn out a turn earlier is absolutely crucial, because she will be targeted by removal ASAP. Sylvan Offering , Kindred Summons , Rhonas's Monument , Genesis Wave , Aetherflux Reservoir , Immaculate Magistrate , Cultivator of Blades , Overwhelming Stampede , End-Raze Forerunners , Overrun , Timberwatch Elf : Win cons. These cards are all good for their own reasons. Cards like Kindred Summons rip you a ton of elves from your library and accelerate your deck into a winning position. Aetherflux Reservoir is your storm win con. Rhonas's Monument buffs Marwyn to infinity and gives trample. Immaculate Magistrate and Timberwatch Elf are supremely busted in this deck. If you untap with them, people start dying fast. Overwhelming Stampede and the other group buffs are how you turn your weak elves into big stompy and smack people. Seedborn Muse + Yeva, Nature's Herald : This combo allows you to basically take your turn on everyone else's turn. Yeva gives your creatures flash and the Muse untaps all your permanents, so if you have a reliable draw engine like Beast Whisperer it's like getting extra turns for free.
This is one of the most fun decks i've made in a while. The synergies are powerful, elves are best tribe, and mono green best color combination. Thanks for giving it a read, and go check out the other decks I've made.
