Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons is a really weird card, and the -1/-1 counter manipulation is really counterintuitive. Building around it in Standard for Amonkhet was fun, and turning that into a Commander deck turned out to be a real challenge. This is a hard deck to run, since it weakens itself for gains and then removes that weakness for even more gains, but when it works, it's incredibly violent. It only looks like it's not competitive on paper-- in practice, it's frequently a cEDH pod killer just because it's so off-meta.

This switches between poison and wither to clear creatures, and uses poison as its main win condition. It's able to just swing people out if it has to, though, since they shouldn't have much in the way of blockers and there are some big creatures in here. There are a few aristocrats kind of cards too, so as people lose stuff to the wither and the poison, it either burns them or otherwise boosts my stuff.
