Wolfrider's Saddle

Artifact — Equipment

When Wolfrider's Saddle enters the battlefield, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token, then attach Wolfrider's Saddle to it.

Equipped creature gets +1/+1 and can't be blocked by more than one creature.

Equip (: Attach to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery.)

I am sometimes a rather simple person; when I see "King of the Wolves" in Latin as a deck name, I click! If you want some more ramp, I would suggest Grow from the Ashes; it's one of my favourites. Have you also considered Wild Pair as an edition? It would give your wolves and werewolves a more pack-like feel. Wolfcaller's Howl could also be fun in this deck. This is just my thematic brain talking, but Wolfrider's Saddle could also be fun. Wolfbriar Elemental could also give you more doggos to work with. Is Master of the Wild Hunt also an option for you?

I hope some of these have helped!

Wolfrider's Saddle seems pretty good as well.

Rdean14, the Cautious

Legendary Creature - Human Advisor

Whenever one or more creature attacks, exile Rdean14, the Cautious, then return that card to the battlefield under your control.

Whenever you or Rdean14, the Cautious becomes the target of a spell or ability, you may choose new targets for that spell or ability.

I'm an exceedingly cautious person. People who know me either think I'm very well prepared or think I'm pessimistic. Many think both. I don't like committing to anything without a solid backup plan. At work I'm known as the 'CYA' guy for my propensity to document everything and very closely follow corporate policy. I'm a Slytherin, by Hogwarts house, and basically, I'm rather persuasive (like I've come up with a sizable chunk of the local policy for my job, e.g.) and highly interested in self-preservation. Like, 100% my #1 priority, no doubt about it. I firmly believe the best way to keep a job is to formulate enough policy and make yourself integral enough that the company wouldn't want to fire you.

Anyways, Let's see a common non-weapon, non-shield/armor equipment.

In standard, Wolfrider's Saddle, Crystal Slipper, Mantle of Tides, Mask of Immolation, and Wings of Hubris.

Other famous ones include Whispersilk Cloak, Swiftfoot Boots, Skullclamp, and Infiltration Lens.

Helms, Saws, Hammers wouldn't count for this. Spidersilk Net seems like a weapon, so like, not really at all weapons or armor. Although Maybe just insanely creative weapons like Gorgon's Head would be cool, not really the goal, but still super cool.

Siren Song Lyre is like the epitome of this challenge, like certainly an equipment, but not like clothing or weapon. Clothing is cool though, to be clear.

Cool idea. A weak stand alone but powerful in an equipment heavy deck.

The flavor seems a bit off to me though.

A quartermaster is usually someone who looks after a unit, of mostly soldiers, rationalizing supplies and raising morale. This looks more like a combo of a forger and an instructor/teacher.

The first ability basically says, the more creatures you have, the easier it is to train them to use weapons. This would hardly be the case. To me it would make more sense if the cost reduction was flat or if it scaled off his own power. Then you could consider how to grant him power naturally or if that's the synergy you require outside help for.

The second ability is... kinda awkward and definitely busted.

It goes infinite with Mortarpod (or Mask of Immolation straight away on first tap. The germ is the second creature, making the equip cost on the original Equipment, equip on the germ, tap, sac, rinse repeat.

That alone would advice some sort of mana cost associated with copying in the first place.

Second of all, copying all non-token equipments on the creature seems a bit broken when he also reduces the cost of equipping (no other artifact is capable of being attached to a creature). However that may be what you intend for him to do, so as long as we fix the previous issue with being too easy to combo out with, it could function.

I would very much like for Equipment to be better (especially for EDH) but this seems a bit too far as it is.

There's another problem with copying en masse, for cards like Sword of X and Y . Suddenly your entire board has protection from everything and get really big.

As long as you have just a few creatures, most equip costs becomes 0 - I believe there is a reason why WotC haven't made anything yet that reduces equip costs in general by more than ( Auriok Steelshaper ). Removing the equip cost on equipment makes them very powerful, especially if you can equip at instant speed .

Some equipment generates tokens on entry, like all the Living Weapon variants and Ancestral Blade , Mask of Immolation , and Wolfrider's Saddle . It goes infinite very quickly, making this more of a combo piece than a way to improve equipments in general.

I think it would be better if this guy had less power built in him.

thoughts: 1) This is looking like it is turning into a ramp deck, mana dorks + strong mid range creatures. There are some cards that are incongruous with that strategy: Giant Growth most notably, and Tomebound Lich , lich is a cute combo with Rabid Bite but i am not sure it is enough.

I'd also say that you don't have nearly enough cards to turn on Season of Growth , and the scry on it's own isn't nearly impactful enough. Wolfrider's Saddle is also off plan.

Lastly Agent of Treachery looks pretty bad here, even with the ramp. It is too fragile and too clunky.

In general when building a deck i would 1) decide what the plan is, 2) start off by maximizing that strategy - typically that means starting with 4x each card. The reasons why you wouldn't run 4x a card is because either a) the effect is worse in multiples, or b) curve considerations. Otherwise you should be maximizing your best cards.

Cards that I think would synergize well with this deck: A little more removal/interaction (stuff to replace Rabid Bite as well), Vivien, Arkbow Ranger (maybe as a 2-3 of), Hydroid Krasis (4x).

@scotchtapedsleeves: Don't worry. I'll upgrade myself hopefully soon enough; it just seems like mere lies at this point. & for the record; I plan to reconcile w/ someone else first; then I'll get to you after. :)

@GhostChieftain: Thanks. I will go ahead & clean up the Corpses that I failed to do for so long (Dammit WAR. XP)

However, I've still some questions needing answers. After that, I'll shut up; I mean, I've plans for a Morophon, the Boundless Human Tribal Deck, a Kykar, Wind's Fury Vorthos deck based upon a Documentary (God forbid.); a revised project about a Mono- "Impurities" Matter deck, & the last to mention, I'll mention at the end of this post:

  1. Teferi, Timebender , Chopped. What is the fate of Nexus of Fate here? Is it worth replacing; or is the idea of Ral Zarek 's Ultimate actually worth a Gamble?

  2. Two new Mu Yanling 's have been confirmed awhile back: Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer , & Mu Yanling, Celestial Wind . For Mu #1: if she makes it in, is she worth the readd of Prismatic Omen for Infinite Draw? or is Mu Yanling, Celestial Wind decent enough? I, mean, one of the Elspeth's Ultimates gives your Creatures Flying as an Emblem; something Archetype of Imagination should be able to remove, though it's for another time.

  3. Golos, Tireless Pilgrim & Crucible of Worlds won't leave this deck any time soon. But in your thoughts, which Walker, in any combination of the following should be kept?

1: Wrenn and Six : Recurring Lands to your Hand is great, one damage is okay, but giving your Nonpermanents (Instants & Sorceries) Retrace? AWESOME!

2: Xenagos, the Reveler : Lots of Tokens? No problem! You'll be netting a lot of ramp in the form of & Mana of any combination! a 2/2 Satyr w/ Haste is good too! Oh, & it's not like you'll need to use that Ult of his; it's completely optional!

3: Kiora, the Crashing Wave : Why did I cut her? She stops damage heading to & coming from any target. Does both Card advantage & Mana Ramp at one time; & the thought of a 9/9 every turn is just fearsome.

Which would you give the Approval of, & Rejection of these three?

  1. Heh. I just threw that in there as an alt. Solution in case the current Manabase might need minor improvement. Guess not... Ah well...

  2. I ended up simply adding Mirari's Wake as a result of this. But I'd still like some thought on Night of Souls' Betrayal . Is it worth adding? I already have a list of Combos of Potential Consideration in my head as we speak; & one of the combos might include this...

FINAL: For the Omake/EXTRA: You stated I'd be better off using something like Niv-Mizzet Reborn , or even The First Sliv alongside Squee, the Immortal , & Food Chain in a deck which exiles stuff on purpose (See: Teferi's Protection , Academy Rector , Cards w/ Flashback, etc.). Past in Flames would be great here, but just doesn't have enough of what the rest of the colors can do. That's why I wanted to use Witch-Maw/Atraxa/Growth as they have the best of this in these colors. There is just one problem: Atraxa, Praetors' Voice is meant for more Counters-Support as well as a Supperfriends 99 Slot (Is there such a thing as a Partner Duo that does Domain/5-Colors? No.), & Witch-Maw Nephilim isn't even a Legendary Creature (I guess that's why Ravnica drove these beings to Extinction?), so I can't use it as a CMDR. This leaves us w/ only Partner Commanders unless you tell me different about a Niv-Mizzet that couldn't even beat Bolas, much less live to tell the tale of Bolas' demise; watched over by Ugin. As for The First Sliv , I'm not running Sliv Tribal, so the effect only applies to Sliv Queen 's Mama.

If you can prove me wrong about this; I won't have to use the following for ideas as Partners:

1: Thrasios, Triton Hero & Tymna the Weaver

2: Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker & Reyhan, Last of the Abzan

3: Ravos, Soultender & Thrasios, Triton Hero

4: Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa & Silas Renn, Seeker Adept

5: Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix & Tymna the Weaver

6: Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix & Ravos, Soultender

7: Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper & Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker

I wonder if any of these duos can handle a deck about exiling powerful stuff & even retrieving back your own when you shouldn't even do so...

After all this, It's all me now. Core 2020 will soon be released. Time to call Slivers "Slivs". Elspeth Tirel , Vivien Reid , & Mu Yanling to have a threesome, Bant Style (Yes, I made this up for reasons more meaningful than you'd think. Just look at the basic picture. XP), & if Birthing Pod , Vivien's Arkbow , Bow of Nylea , Wolfrider's Saddle , Verdurous Gearhulk & Thundering Tanadon (BTW, Vorinclex was mentioned in this card's Flavor Text; meaning he isn't against impurities after all. Why can he & Jin-Gitaxias just MAKE UP! We have Ezuri, Claw of Progress ! What's his lore when Ezuri became this?!) taught us anything; I need to prove Mono- can make a CMDR w/ no use of AEthermancy, doesn't need to "Craft" Life to invent it; Or Artifact creatures that kill Impurities (& Fliers; we have Birds of Paradise !); & such a deck will be made regardless on any regard. Time to introduce Nature to the rotten soup known as Peat that after millions of years of evolution (Another Quality.) became Slate, which is, in fact a Metal Composite, which can be used for true crafting of Artifice in .

(sigh... I'll end this now. I think I've gone too insane on the Grixis identity of mine.)

REALLY Sorry about this wall of binary crap. Might as well be the last time to be forgiven for anything... DX
