FNM Win

wylie72, 8 years ago

Went undefeated without dropping a single game at FNM. Played against Esper Control, Burn, Azorius Control, and Abzan midrange. Courser of Kruphix, a new addition, was a big standout, as was Stormbreath Dragon, with turn two Blood Moon sealing several games right at the start.

Claim/Fame

Teddyjunior11, 8 years ago

So tonight we had 5 Rounds Overall 2-3. Round 1 Started off against Burn (2-1) Burn player put himself on a clock by playing cards in his hand. Which was incorrect... bottom line he played poorly. Sided in 2 collective brutality, 1 stub, 1 terminate. Sided out all 4 wraith Round 2 Eldrazi Tron (0-2) First off this guy mulliganed to 5 on the draw with a hand of 3 dismember 1 matter reshaper surgical... scryed urza tower top. Then proceeded to dismember 1 tasigur, 1 gurmag, and a death shadow then rode the matter reshaper to victory. I cast terminate to kill reshaper and he flipped over a matter reshaper. G2 opponent starts a leyline of sanctity on zero against my hand of thoughtseize, thoughtseize, inquisition, gurmag, watery grave, polluted delta. So I was set to have a turn 2 tasigur seems good. He then went turn 1 temple pass, temple Thought Knot Seer. I scooped in slight frustration and had to go cool off because his draws were so above average and flat out obsurd. Sided in 3 ceremonius rejection, 2 surgical, 1 terminate. Sided out 2 push, 2 inquisition, 1 thought scour, 1 street wraith Round 3 Tooth and Nail (2-0). I went turn two gurmag. Opponent essentially rage quit and forfeited, then rambled on about Death Shadow decks being degenerate and what not. Round 4 Jund (0-2) opponent drew better. In both games had the answers. G1 rode a liliana of the veil to victory. The first game I saw Claim/Fame it was not castable because there was no creatures in the yard. If the card was electrolyze I would have killed a liliana and drawn a snapcaster. Round 5 BR Goblins (1-2) I saw Claim/Fame and again it was uncastable. Would have wanted it to be electrolyze. The 2 games I lost was one because bloodstained mire cant fetch basic island when your at 3 so you cant stub a goblin grenade. And two he snuck a lightning bolt under my collective brutality which would have been lethal. Switching Claim back to Electrolyze

Color Change and Gifts Ungiven

Garrbyg, 8 years ago

Thanks to some great suggestions, I was able to cut white by replacing Supreme Verdict with Languish. I also added Gifts Ungiven as a useful tutor which led to the decision to put one Whir of Invention in the board for one Muddle the Mixture. I acquired an Academy Ruins on the cheap, but for others I was previously using Buried Ruins. Lastly, I made some changes to the board. Thanks for all the help & when I have some game results (I forgot from before) I will try to post them!

Now with Hour of Devastation!

Gates88, 8 years ago

I was DEVASTATED (haha so funny xD) to learn that enemy bicycle lands were not in Hour of Devastation, but instead we got some new Cycling creatures. I'm focusing on the 2 mana cyclers because paying 2 generic mana is usually easier than 1 colored mana and also for Fluctuator synergy.

I am particularly interested in seeing how Hollow One ends up being. It'll probably suck, as even a 0 mana 4/4 isn't that impressive in commander. However, the fact that it's an artifact creature does mean that it'll be easier to trigger Delirium from now on, making Descend upon the Sinful a much more viable card.

Additionally, I am also testing Supreme Verdict. WWU is not easy to hit on turn 4, but you rarely cast 4 mana wipes on curve anyway. If it ends up being strong enough, I will likely also add Dimir House Guard back into the deck.

FINAL CHANGE LOG UPDATE

GoldenCapitalist, 8 years ago

Hello everyone! It has been almost two years since I started this change log, and it has served me well as a reminder of where the deck has been, and where it has gone. However, as I have now completed my Primer for the deck, I maintain my change log on the website where I keep my Primer - on MTGSalvation. Thus, if you are interested in following the deck for updates, I would recommend you check out [my Primer page here.](http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/775492-momir-vig-simic-visionary-a-simic-combonary) I WILL STILL UPDATE THE DECK LIST ON TAPPEDOUT, HOWEVER I WILL ONLY UPDATE THE CHANGE LOG ON MTGSALVATION FROM NOW ON.

Update #1

EvelPhreak, 8 years ago

  • Removed Orzhov Advokist While it did protect me by keeping creatures from coming at me, my opponents would just use it to buff their creatures for a few turns THEN swing for even more damage.
  • Added Open the Vaults I know that this can help my opponents a bit, but I'm saving this until late game. If they wrath all of my protection, this is a one-card way to get it all right back.
  • Added Oketra's Last Mercy and removed Comeuppance This card is hilarious in EDH! If they manage to start dealing a bunch of damage, I can just go right back to 40 life! Yes, I'm basically neutering myself for a turn, but I'm focused on the fact that there will be additional turns after that. Comeuppance can be a blowout, but I kept finding myself hanging on to it and waiting for that perfect time...that almost never came.
  • Added Phyrexian Arena and removed Diabolic Tutor Card draw is important in any EDH deck. While Marchesa can be a pretty good source, this card has proven over the years to be a worthwhile play. I replaced the Tutor because I'd rather get an extra card every turn, rather than a good card once.

v.2 Decklist Changes

AlucardNoir, 8 years ago

v.2 Deck was having issues with consistency; really struggling to ramp by turn 3-4. Made some changes to the decklist. Most of the removed cards just weren't helping achieve the win-con. Removed some basic lands and added a few special lands: [Vivid Grove] - replaced forest [Vivid Crag] - replaced mountain [Mosswort Bridge] - replaced forest [Fertile Thicket] - replaced forest [Blighted Woodland] Cards removed: [Channeler Initiate] [Asceticism] [Dragon Mage] [Honored Hydra] [Magus of the Moon] [Oracle of Mul Daya] [Rampaging Baloths] [Regal Force] [Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre] [Vigor] [Karn Liberated] [Momentous Fall] [Dual Nature] [Mind's Eye] Cards added: [Harvest Season] - more ramp [Cultivate] - more ramp [Wildest Dreams] - graveyard control [Insist] - prep for [Tooth and Nail] or [Craterhoof Behemoth] [Signal the Clans] - creature tutor [Summoner's Pact] - creature tutor [Sneak Attack] - alternate way to drop fatties on the board cheap for one turn [Worn Powerstone] - more ramp [Lifecrafter's Bestiary] - card advantage [Combat Celebrant] - extra combat to finish off an opponent that is just out of reach [Dragonmaster Outcast] - fill the board with more fatties [Yisan, the Wanderer Bard] - creature tutor [Decimator of Provinces] - alternate win-con if Craterhoof isn't available [Bloodbraid Elf] - deck filter [Champion of Rhonas] - drop a fatty on the board for free!

More small improvements

cailtis, 8 years ago

-1 Elvish Piper - I just never really saw much use in this because we already vomit out so much mana as it is. A 4-mana cost elf that isn't even a druid and doesn't do anything else isn't much needed in this deck - if looked at one way, this elf basically is too slow/expensive to help build mana early on, and is usually a wasted effort later on when we already have plenty of mana to spend on big fatties.

-1 Llanowar Druid - I like this guy for big, explosive turns, and can technically act as a 2-mana cost mana dork at other times in the game, but I think I want to prioritize trying to keep in as many 1-cmc druids because they are net mana-neutral on our explosive turns while also giving us card draw and other things from our on-cast/ETB card draw engines like Primordial Sage/Lifecrafter's Bestiary/Soul of the Harvest and big draw spells like Regal Force/Shamanic Revelation/Collective Unconscious. Having more 1-drops I just think is going to make the fluency of our mana balance and card draw balance better overall.

+1 Lifecrafter's Bestiary - Pretty awesome card for a deck like this. Provides us with yet another way to continue finding gas when we are dumping our hand, and since it only asks for 1 green mana per on-cast trigger our 1-drops in the deck that can generate mana immediately technically go "infinite" with this since we don't net lose any mana. An added benefit is the scry trigger which I think will be most helpful on turns when we need to draw a specific part of our deck on our draw step for an important turn but don't have the card draw already to potentially get us there.

+1 Collective Unconscious - I traded away my copy of this card ages ago but traded for one again because I needed it for this.

HOU

I opened a Torment of Hailfire so I replaced a Stupor with it. I'm going to test it out and see how it fairs

Update 7/14/17

tkl1234567890, 8 years ago

Taking out Emmara Tandris for Crested Sunmare because Sunmare is pretty much a guaranteed trigger every turn, and we can even populate at instant speed to get more tokens per turn cycle. Also taking out Fumigate for Hour of Revelation because Hour is one of the best white sweepers ever printed, and hits things other than creatures.

In addition, Lotus Cobra is out for Sylvan Caryatid for more consistency. Champion of Lambholt is out for a land, because we needed more lands and Champion wasn't really pulling its weight. Finally, swapped Exploration for Burgeoning because Burgeoning does a lot more early game.

A Change Of Heart

djewell, 8 years ago

This is a very big change.. I'm switching from enchantment buff focus on Tana to artifact buff focus. As well, I am focusing the deck a little more on the damage on ETB effects though life loss and damage dealt. Hopefully this makes the deck a little more playable and more intuitive to play. The Description will be rewritten to match the deck as well.
