Stupor

Sorcery

Target opponent discards a card at random, then discards a card.

Hey, discard can be a solid strategy now that there are so many cards to support it being a win condition, but there are a few aspects of your deck that stand out to me as maybe needing work!

The biggest problem is bound to be Ashiok's Adept - he only makes your opponent discard a card if you target him with a spell, and you currently have zero ways to do that. As is, he's just a 1/3 for three mana... not too exciting. Probably it's better to just cut him out rather than try to remake the deck to support him!

Another odd inclusion is Bridge From Below, which only has an ability so long as it's in your graveyard. How do you plan to get it there? Target yourself with Liliana? Probably this isn't the right home for it, either!

For your creatures, there are a couple upgrades I can think of that wouldn't be very expensive. Hypnotic Specter has got to be the best specter in the game, and I'd strongly recommend him over Abyssal Specter. Guul Draz Specter is a good alternative, too. If you're running to run a cheap guaranteed-discard critter like Ravenous Rats, then Burglar Rat is a small upgrade!

Mind Rot is also a card with lots of solid alternatives. Stupor, Unburden, Heartless Pillage and Demogorgon's Clutches are all just flat-out better!

Overall you have a solid chassis here. My main advice is to get the deck down to 60 cards and cut out anything that doesn't support your main strategy!

I recommend having a 3:1 spit of Dead of Winter and Bontu's Last Reckoning , or at least a 2:2 split. Dead of Winter scales to kill big creatures in the late game and is able to kill pretty much anything they play before turn 3 without the huge downside that Reckoning has. Plus, playing snow lands lets you play some Frostwalk Bastion as a budget Mutavault ; manlands are relatively important in 8-Rack to help increase the clock and Bastion can even buy you an extra turn when it blocks.

Next: 8-Rack's goal is to get each player to topdeck mode as fast as possible, and while Necrogen Mists is a really good value card, its higher cmc means it doesn't get them to start topdecking as fast as a normal discard spell does and it literally does nothing to the opponent once you get into topdeck mode. Liliana's Caress is in the same boat since it doesn't make them discard.

I recommend cutting the Necrogen Mists and the Liliana's Caress es to play 4 Blackmail , 2 Funeral Charm , and 2 Stupor . Funeral Charm can make them discard cards as well as remove early game creatures while Blackmail and Stupor are both decent discard spells. They are less expensive than Necro Mists/Lili's Caress, too.

Have a look at Noxious Revival instead of Reclaim as it is strictly better. I like Wrench Mind over Stupor, that's just preference though.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I will be adding Expedition Map to search for Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. Toxic Deluge is also going in after I realized that this deck didn't have an answer for indestructible.Liliana's Specter will also be added, due to its low mana cost. Additionally, I will run Stupor, Whispers of Emrakul, and Wrench Mind. If I include Bottomless Pit and Necrogen Mists, I will also include Phyrexian Arena to ensure that I am not top-decking.

The suggestions were greatly appreciated. FYI, I finally got a chance to play the deck in a multiplayer setting, and it drew a lot of hate immediately. It was great!Sorry, I forgot to tag you both. MegaMatt13 TheWallinator74

Hey, I feel like you may be a little light on the discard effects even in an 8-rack list.

Personally I am a fan of both Smallpox and Stupor in the budget build of this deck, the Extirpate's are cool tech but the 4-of is a little much, additionally Liliana's Caress feels like a win-more card not really adding anything to the deck.
