Just think of Isareth as having "When you attack pay X: remove target blocker". She isn't a re-animator general, not really. But as a commander that can use their graveyard as a second hand in the combat step I think she has a unique little niche. Beyond that, Isareth provides a great chance to play some.lf blacks more unique removal spells and creatures.
