DECK 5 - JUND (BRG) - for the 32 Deck Challenge.

All non-land cards have an odd converted mana cost for the COMPANION Obosh, the Preypiercer

Average mana value is 2.13 with lands and 3.35 without lands. This deck's total mana value is 211.

This is my first attempt at a Companion deck which adds a really fun challenge to the build. I really would have loved to have cards like the Hedge Shredder, Nemata, Primeval Warden, or the Brightcap Badger in this deck, but had to leave them behind for there even casting costs.

THEME: AHEAD OF THE FIRE I decided to go for a Yin/Yang vibe here - Out of control growth vs Out of control destruction. Slimefoot and Squee seemed a perfect fit for this theme as they attempt to make a Tribute to the World Tree. In the chaos that unfolds it draws the attention of Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer (who in lore made the Weatherseed which led to Slimefoot's existence), but also brought Obosh, the Preypiercer!

Disclaimer: I'm a casual player so lean away from cards that might appear on any salty card or commander list. I also tend to be self restrictive as I attempt to create a story theme for my decks, and hold staying true to the theme more important than creative wincons. Dropping Obosh, the Preypiercer onto the battlefield and then tapping a Heartless Hidetsugu is a pretty neat combo - but I don't think that kind of win is fun for anyone, so i don't use it.

Notes about this deck:

• S&S is a quick cast commander that avoids recast tax as it wants to go to the Graveyard, but to make that work Saproling Creation is of paramount concern. To that end, I chose to avoid the Thallids as their 3 spore counters to get one Saproling a bit slow. The deck has a dozen Create Saproling options such as the Druidic Satchel, Golgari Germination, the Mucrotyrant and the Undercellar Myconid.

• I had some fun with the Lands including each of the 3 dual lands that can become elementals to match Molino's subtype, but also 4 potential Legendary Lands with Brass's Tunnel-Grinder  , Growing Rites of Itlimoc  , Journey to Eternity  , and Matzalantli, the Great Door  . These add some strong Discover, mana ramp, and Graveyard Recovery options.

• The deck also has ample options for fun with Descend dynamiics with subtle Mill from The Mending of Dominaria, Devour from Mycoloth, or the Discard of the retrievable Pyrewild Shaman. This can add strength with cards that like a large Graveyard like Akawalli, the Seething Tower, yet also pairs well with cards that focus on Graveyard Recovery cards such as Squirming Emergence and Fungal Rebirth.

• Obosh is a known threat meaning opponents can see him coming - so support cards like Rhythm of the Wild, Dense Foliage (which has a Squee quote) and Darksteel Plate add some nice optional protection. For both Obosh and Dictate of the Twin Gods timing of arrival is key to capitalizing trample or Non-combat damage.

I found many more fun combinations in play with this deck than I expected to - and as a casual player this deck has a better win rate than most of my other decks. Hope you have fun with it, or it gives you some good ideas. Feedback is, of course, always welcome!
