Necropotence

Enchantment

Skip your draw step.

Whenever you discard a card, exile that card from your graveyard.

Pay 1 life: Exile the top card of your library face down. Put that card into your hand at the beginning of your next end step.

SufferFromEDHD on Kaalia of the vast

Kaalia will always be one of my favorite commanders. That first batch of commander decks were special.

This is a really neat shell. I like your use of niche white control spells like Abeyance and Orim's Chant. Would something like Conqueror's Flail be useful here?

I really like your use of Necrodominance and Necropotence. Is this speeding up your wins?

A playset of cards from my list that I think would be excellent here:

Eiganjo Castle kaalia protection

Arena of Glory best haste enabler

Chance for Glory wins games

Cataclysm the math is on your side

Sneak Attack kaalia #2

Cut all the creatures that don't fit the tribes. Keep Mother of Runes. The rest are just good stuff.

I like to build some fairly toxic Commander decks, though I try to warn people if a deck dips too deeply into any of the elements I've noticed that cause toxicity. In Commander most people consider decks that take away player agency to be toxic, so that includes; -excessive permanent removal (clearing each opponent's board repeatedly, or Obliterate/Jokulhaups) -things that limit what you can do (like Rule of Law or Collector Ouphe) -excessively pushed Commanders in Casual (stuff where they throw Ward on for no reason, most of these are also the payoff and enabler in one card) -Chaos effects that turn the game on it's head (Thieves' Auction and Grip of Chaos for example) -stuff that prevents untapping (Static Orbfoil and Winter Orb) -stealing everything strategies (flickering Agent of Treachery infinitely, Insurrection late game) -excessive discard (multiple Necrogen Mists and Bottomless Pit effects) -'win on the spot' effects that don't have an upkeep trigger (there is a few of these on the banlist, like Biorhythm and Coalition Victory) -counter everything strategies (Dovescape) -overly efficient tutoring (Zur the Enchanter *f-etch* fetching out Necropotence, and people are weirdly salty about Vampiric Tutor) -faster elimination strategies that encourage you to target a specific opponent (think anything Infect, and lower to the ground Voltron decks) -I think the last one I can think of is optional tax effects that encourage people to screw their pod and play into the Rhystic Study, if the tax is just a tax, like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben people tend not to mind as much, it's the ability to king make if you're dumb.

In 1v1 I don't think it really matters, unless you only have 1 deck to play kitchen table with just changing decks should generate enough novelty to avoid the build up of bad feelings, and if you're playing competitively it's your call if you want to play nightmarish stuff like Nadu, or something traditionally 'fun' like Aggro... only if everyone plays decks that aren't fun, more people will quit, so it's a 'tragedy of the commons' scenario too if you have a fairly small meta each player needs 'fun to play against' decks, even for 1v1.

Niko9 on MASSIVE EDH RC ban list …

I mean, I don't mind these bans too much, but I do think they are kind of strange choices, just because they seem to be aimed at a more competitive meta, but not addressing the problems of competitive decks, just the enablers for those decks. I feel like other cards that don't function in commander as intended might have been better choices.

Thassa's Oraclefoil this seemed like it was designed to be a wincon for control decks that combo out in the end, but it turned into a turn 2-3 possible win out of no where.

Tainted Pact simply does way too much in a 100 card singleton deck

Ad Nauseam is gross in every kinda way : )

Necropotence is busted with 40 life

Rhystic Study is a turtley enchantment that doesn't do much in the format it was printed into

The One Ring was not intended to give you 3 turns of protection after being played

Nadu I am down with, just because it is almost impossible to make a non-combo Nady deck.

Really, I never ran any of the cards that got banned, I just think the mana cards there were more enablers for decks rather than the problem cards that come after being enabled. A dockside without some broken play after is kind of just a powered up deck, and it's easier to have a rule 0 convo about fast mana than it is to have a rule 0 convo about combo win that somebody's deck can't function without.

DreadKhan on Need Help With A Solitary …

I've fiddled around with Solitary Confinement in another Zur list, that one uses Spirit of the Labyrinth and Teferi's Puzzle Box to get rid of everyone else's hand (I skip mine with Solitary and/or Necropotence), this gives you an awfully long time to win via whatever means you prefer. If you use Chains of Mephistopheles you technically get a Spirit effect that comes with a big upside as it'll mill your opponents, but it's more than $1000, so I mention Spirit. None of this is Casual, but it'd be hard to make a Solitary Confinement list and have it qualify as Casual.

Beseech the Mirror and Beseech the Queenfoil are additional tutors that might interest you to help you with consistency. More card draw in the form of Syphon Mind and Read the Bones are useful as well to maintain gas and help you get what you need. Dead of Winter might fit well for this deck as another wipe given your snow lands.

Regarding non-creature based decks, what is your meta looking like in terms of that? Is it a lot of blue players? If so, some hand hate in the form of Mind Twist (note, it says random!) as counterbait or Thought Distortion for something as a silver bullet.

Given your commander deck is heavily based on your commander, you should find additional ways to protect it. Whether it's something simple like lightning greaves or swiftfoot boots, or something more generally helpful such as Necropotence to give you additional draw to help with your ward.

I can give you ideas for cuts if you want.

Babian on Marrow-Gnawer White Border Only

Nice deck! Great to see that you also enjoy the challenge of building a Commander deck with only white-bordered cards. The early editions offer some really good ramp and draw pieces. In fact, there are two of the strongest ramp and draw cards in the whole format available white-bordered and would fit very well in your deck:

Other, less impactful, suggestions would be Strip Mine from the Fourth Edition and Crystal Vein from the Sixth Edition.

With my white border only Rubinia Soulsinger deck I follow a copy and steal strategy, which scales nicely with the decks of the opponents. You can check out my approach here if you like: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mpq4CA_a9U6gsHYrOlqKyw

Yeah, it's a lot of the same ol shit, defending against Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Dragon's Rage Channeler, Orcish Bowmasters, Deathrite Shaman, The One Ring, Necropotence, Omniscience, ya know. When I go up against something else, I'm usually pleasantly surprised. I mostly play aggro builds and BO1 matches, I like the games to be quick and fun as I don't have a whole lot of free time, and def not enuf for a BO3 control match. I could get into some Brawl again tho. I do have a bunch of EDH decks built on paper, and a couple brawl decks on Arena that I haven't touched in quite a while, but I do enjoy the format. I sent you a friend request on Arena, Same username as on here.

I think it may be helpful to decide which strategy you want to follow. With your current commander the recursion and Reanimation effects do not have a synergy. If you want to be more competitive maybe decide which sheoldred will helm your deck. The acopalypse is for draw/life drain. The whispering for Reanimation. If you stick with you current commander you could cut cards without synergy with her. However, a subtheme is nice if not competitive and I prefer decks like that :)

Some other cards that may be of interest could be Necropotence, Archfiend of Despair, Wound Reflection, Pox.

And I agree regarding the mana base.
