NV_1980 on Lemme Show You My Enchantments

Hi,

Might I suggest some more early mana rocks to get Zur out quicker? I was thinking stuff like Arcane Signet, Azorius Signet, Dimir Signet and Orzhov Signet. The talismans (like Talisman of Dominance and its sibblings) are also great for some earlier mana. And as long as you're using many (expensive) enchantments, you could consider adding Land Tax as well.

With so much lifegain going on, you could also consider adding some cards that allow you to draw based/play cards that use life as their source of power. Necropotence could be awesome in here. Same could apply to Bolas's Citadel.

I should also point out that this deck is a bit light on removal; especially when it comes to opposing artifacts/enchantments. At the very least, I'd consider Heliod's Intervention (which also synergizes with the lifegain theme, if you want to use it in this fashion).

Also consider dropping 2 lands, Mind Stone, Bloodflow Connisuer, Wayfarer Bauble, and Sword of the Animist for your Talisman of Creativity, all Rakdos Signet, Izzet Signet, Dimir Signet, Viscera Seer, and Carrion Feeder.

Awesome commander choice! I think clash is SUCH a cool mechanic, I was at the Lorwin prerelease back in the day and opened Ajani Goldmane and Lilliana Vess in separate sealed pools, what an awesome memory!

I think I get why mana fixing/advantage staples like Dimir Signet and Talisman of Dominance aren't in since their mana values are sooo low for Marvo, but they could still be useful includes. I also thin k a couple more cantrips, like Consider or Preordain could help set up the top of your deck.

Keep it up and check out some of my builds @ enraged!

NV_1980 on commander mill

Hi opencorners! Please consider adding some more mana-options to the deck. Right now, all you have for that are lands and compared to the average commander deck, this will make your deck painfully slow. Options I'd recommend include Arcane Signet, Dimir Signet, Fellwar Stone, Talisman of Dominance, Thran Dynamo and most especially Sol Ring. Dark Ritual can also be extremely useful at times.

You could also do with some more card-advantage (draw) to increase the deck's speed. Notion Thief, Phyrexian Arena, Ponder and Preordain could all be great additions for this.

Aside from this, I'd recommend giving the following cards a shot (I've tried to keep them budget):

  • Breach the Multiverse: strong mill-spell that's potentially game-ending in terms of the sudden advantage you can gain (especially if you play against multiple opponents).
  • Freed from the Real/Pemmin's Aura: allows you to untap your strongest millers (when Phenax is around) for next-to-nothing cost, and use them to mill again.
  • Memory Erosion: quite deadly against decks that try to overwhelm you with the amount of spells that can cast per turn (this card is the death of prowess and storm decks).
  • Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker: great mill potential with every successful attack.
  • Nighthowler: a second Wight of Precinct Six.
  • Sphinx's Tutelage: an incredibly effective mill card as it's triggered by your draw (which makes having more draw in your deck even more beneficial).

Hope this helped. In case you need some more insights, have a look at my own Phenax deck. Good luck with the deck.

Considering you have no basic lands in your deck, having those mana rocks in there is a good move since cards like Blood Moon can hobble your deck. Also, if you choose to add Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge, that would make for extra ramp.

I've noticed you have a lot of mana and draw cards with lifeloss. If this was intentional, I would recommend any combination of Font of Agonies, Vampire Scrivener, and Vilis, Broker of Blood. Otherwise, the lifeloss seems like an unnecessary risk even with all the control you have.

If not, replacing the Talismans with Signets(including, but not limited to, Azorius Signet and Dimir Signet) and replacing some of the other nonland cards with the "Oath of..." Cards (especially Oath of Nissa and Oath of Liliana) would also help to benefit not only from card and mana advantage, but ETB triggers as well.

I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

There would need to be an entirely new chapter of rules created just to interact with a players mana pool. And even if you could, this would become a replacement effect. Essentially replacing an opponents , for example, with .

Best way to do it is to say "Whenever an opponent adds one mana of any kind, they instead add no mana. This ability may only resolve once each turn."

This way all of the feeder tokens can trigger, but only one resolves, allowing the rest to trigger as intended.

This way if you have three feeder tokens and an opponent adds in that order, they'd only receive .

This is because perhaps your opponent tapped three mountains (each its own activated mana ability and thus subject to the triggers), they'd instead add , , .

Then perhaps they sacrifice two treasure tokens, one for and one for . They would keep those, as each feeder has resolved.

This would obviously create an absolute tremendous headache because so many players combo off rapidly and then you have to sit back and ask how they did it.

For example, adding from Sol Ring would actually get you . But what if they tapped Sol Ring to add the mana into filtering for Azorius Signet and Dimir Signet?

Now your opponent believes they have with three permanents tapped when in reality they have no mana, and both signets couldn't be activated.

A more "game appropriate" version is this:

"Whenever an opponent adds a colored mana to their mana pool, they instead add . This ability may only resolve once each turn."

This way you don't completely ruin the game.

looks like a fun list!

I might suggest a few more mana rocks. I'd recommend you have at least 10. Dimir Signet and Rakdos Signet and Izzet Signet would be good, as well as Arcane Signet and Everflowing Chalice and Mind Stone. Additionally, i'd recommend 2 cmc mana rocks over 3 cmc rocks any day.

Fevered Visions can also give you another 'everyone draws' effects.
