We play all the most versatile cards, while keeping our curve as low as possible.
MD enlightened tutor lets us have top twice as often as our opponents, playing explosives over geist main to justify the tutor. Tutor also makes moorland haunt a more reasonable late game plan, since we should always have a sword.
geist was also only good when drawn as both the only 3 drop and the only creature, the delver > traft hands weren't able to support him and he isn't as versatile as TNN so he got cut. Clique has stayed in because we want to operate at instant speed as much as possible, another condition Geist failed to fulfill.
I was playing 2 islands but it was dead if we weren't on a multiple cantrip draw so it got cut for the moorland haunt, again we effectively only have 6 blue cantrips so having multiple islands in play doesn't do much. Possible it should be a plateau (or the foundry while the plateau takes foundries spot, obviously) but plateau is unplayable in legacy so I refuse to buy one.
The non-blue off colour fetch could be a white fetch or a red fetch. Volcanic casts more of our removal than tundra so if stuck on one land we want the foothills/bloodstained mire over the flats/heath (obviously hand dependant).
We're not playing WW or RR cards because its too much of a strain on the manabase.
We definitely want sword of war and peace for the matchups we're forced to race, which leaves either feast and famine or fire ice as the other sword. F&F seems better so that mystic can get a "Protection from your deck" sword more often, the slow(blue) decks should struggle to beat a F&F anyways so Fire&Ice seems mediocre.
You can let Shu Yun hit the yard and make a token with him, putting him in the command zone again.Flipping top every turn with Shu Yun down is also a reasonable late game grind plan.
Miscalculation is never dead, while getting mana leaks job done most of the time.
It's possible forked bolt wants to be fire / ice, uncertain that having to spend an extra mana is worth it for that card.
Figure of destiny is more versatile than say, monastery swiftspear (Which i don't think is playable in this deck, we have an equivalent of 6ish cantrips in a 60 card deck, which isn't nearly enough to justify her, we also don't want to be burning face that early). Figure is slower than other aggressive one drops early but it's also an instant speed mana sink and a 4/4 when we draw it late.
Pierce over flusterstorm main because it always counters removal spells.
Sideboard is loose, dispel is probably supposed to be flusterstorm if storm is a real thing.
Might want a hydroblast if the red decks all decide bloodmoon is a good plan.
Cop: red is better than the other hate cards for us because we can enlightened tutor for it, tutor should stay in after board vs monored, we want to just jam a sword of war and peace.
