Goblin Cohort

Creature — Goblin Warrior

Goblin Cohort can't attack unless you've cast a creature spell this turn.

I would lose the Herald of Dromoka for a cheap ass warrior or another lord. Cheap ones: Aven Skirmisher, Dragon Hunter (it's a 2/1 for one with upside), Goblin Cohort, Grim Initiate, Mardu Shadowspear, Mardu Woe-Reaper (should at least be in the sideboard), Somberwald Vigilante, Vampire Lacerator, and of course, the best one, Zurgo Bellstriker.

Okay so first of all: one drops of two different colors in pauper is really awkward. It should work out fine most of the time but I feel like it might turn some hands that would be auto wins if you can play your 1 drop into pretty bad hands. In fact, you can see how awkward it makes things by your mana base: if you had another red 1 drop instead of Young Wolf , you could probably get away with swapping 2 forests for 2 mountains.

I'm not a fan of Horned Kavu : it's a big pile of stats, sure, but it puts you behind on tempo and it leaves you very vulnerable to Snap which is a blue staple. I would much rather see a fourth Burning-Tree Emissary and another two drop like Nest Invader or Mogg War Marshal which would help you trigger Morbid. (As a side note, Blastoderm + Horned Kavu doesn't actually work because Blastoderm has shroud)

Speaking of Blastoderm , I'm not a big fan of it because it can't come down before turn 4, which is the turn you're either going to be overtaken by other aggro decks or the turn a control deck will start stabilizing so you need to have an explosive turn 4, which is the complete opposite of Blastoderm as it's just a big pile of stats with no real impact on the field.

Manamorphose isn't great either: it does basically say -1 card in your deck but the filtering doesn't seem very relevant when you could have more action in your deck. If you had a Thermo-Alchemist or a similar card in there, it would be alright but right now, I'd be more happy to see more Rancor .

Overall, I feel like this deck is a bit too slow. Here are some cards to consider to accelerate it: Vines of Vastwood , more Rancor , Nettle Sentinel if the deck veers green, Goblin Cohort and/or Mogg Conscripts , Goblin Bushwhacker if the deck goes wider, Hunger of the Howlpack , Porcelain Legionnaire , Vault Skirge if you have lots of pumps, Skarrgan Pit-Skulk , Savage Swipe if you mostly have 2-power creatures and maybe some more burn in the main like Chain Lightning and Reckless Abandon .

I like the Idea, even brewed a little bit with that myself. Here are the problems I encountered and see in your brew of goblins in general, desregarding the "aristocrats" theme. I will comment on that further down:

  1. Electrickery is the first card sideborded against this, and in your brew, there are no creatures to survive it. It gets especially annoying, if our opponent casts it in response to a Goblin War Strike . Not quite as devastating but still annoying are cards like Nausea or Shrivel . This is one of the main reasons, most goblin decks run some numbers of Goblin Cohort or Mogg Conscripts (next to the fact, that a 2/2 for is pretty ok).

  2. How reliable is Kuldotha Rebirth , with just 8 targets? Especially, since you might need great furnace to sacrifice to fireblast.

  3. What do you need Goblin Matron for? She is normaly used to get a specific answer to whatever is needed. Is there any goblin that is worth it to tutor out on turn 3 or later as an speciic answer to a bord state? the only one that comes to mind is Sparksmith , to get rid of a blocker, like an angler. However, you only have one matron in the deck anyway, for mostly your only target, sparksmith. Either slow down the deck and run more targets like Goblin General , Tarfire , Goblin Lookout or Goblin Bushwhacker , or cut her.

  4. How reliable is fling? You mostly will be able to fling either foundry street or a sledder pumped creature. However, both require specific circumstances, either to play a lot of cards from hand and still having mana and fling in hand, or a big bord, fling in hand and sledder on field.

Now, for your basic Idea.

If you want to make a lot of tokens, you need a consistant payof. Goblin war strike is one, but, only one. The aristocrats theme is hard, if the only sacrifice outlet and benefit are 4 copies of goblin sledder. I don't have a definite solution for this, just some ideas. One is to forget about sacrificing your tokens and include cards like Goblin Bushwhacker or even Goblin War Party and go full on a go wide and pump your team strategy.

The other is to go in a goblin storm direction, as seen in this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYE5gnDl1ZE&t=902s

I hope I could help.

Seems solid, here is a few other cards you might consider for this Ash Zealot, Goblin Glory Chaser, Goblin Cohort, Zurgo Bellstriker, Warren Instigator, and Scab-Clan Berserker.

Oh sorry, I hadn't noticed you were on a budget.

In that case...

Dryad Militant and Soldier of the Pantheon are 2/1s for 1 with textboxes that are relevant against a surprising number of decks.

Zurgo Bellstriker 2/2 for 1 with a downside that you rarely care about.

Steppe Lynx and Goblin Cohort are high-risk high-reward cards-as long as you keep pumping out creatures/lands, they're better than anything else, but once you stop, it's as if you were down a creature which is especially bad in this deck. Still might be worth it, especially considering you're trying to win early.

War Falcon might work, but I think 14 soliders is a bit too few.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, HurricaneZach. My original version of this deck did have Mogg Fanatic in it, but I decided to replace it with the Fanatical Firebrand since it was basically the same thing but with haste, which I feel outweighs the fact that you have to tap it to sac it. I also just replaced the Raging Goblin with Goblin Cohort which was also in the original version of the deck, but will really benefit from the new haste creatures so it has gone back in. Also swapped Fireblast with Goblin War Strike to avoid the land sac. It had been a while since I did any editing on this one - enjoy!
