Doomed Artisan

Creature — Human Artificer

Sculptures you control can't attack or block.

At the beginning of your end step, create a colourless Sculpture artifact creature token with "This creature's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Sculptures you control."*

I was browsing through some Ghired decks similar to mine and found yours. My two cents on the questions in the description:

  • You might take out Doomed Artisan for Idol of Oblivion. The Sculptures created can't even attack while the Artisan is on the field, and the rate it creates is painfully slow. The Idol can draw you cards every turn of yours, and also serves as a second Grove of the Guardian if your tokens are wiped out.

  • Talking about the Grove, how is Myriad Landscape working for you? Can it regularly get the lands you need to cast Ghired the next turn? I'm asking you because I've tried to make it and Mirrorpool work in my deck, but the strain colorless taplands made on the deck was mind-taxing to me. I decided to only run Krosan Verge, Kessig Wolf Run and Grove of the Guardian as colorless utility lands, and it's working wonders.

If you desire, you can check my decklist: I've made a breakdown of some suggestions in the description. Particularly, the clone stuff red is getting is crazy bonkers in Ghired.

Sorry for late reply, haven't logged in in quite awhile AbsoluteIridium

Intrepid Hero, Royal Assassin, Doomed Artisan, Mirror Entity, Magister of Worth, Mangara of Corondor, Lumbering Battlement, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Tortured Existence can carry their own on a budget. after those swaps i guess you would have to hone your curve and add some big cheap curve toppers or focus on middle range value.

Hope this helped!

we are currently converting this build to a Ghave, Guru of Spores sun titan shell due to alot of added support in the recent sets

Hey, you're welcome :)

What's the max budget you have to make card upgrades? When you finish making upgrades what price range can you have for total deck cost? The precon for example at $60 is low and I would hope you could afford at least $50 for upgrades. If you can afford more expensive price cards then my card suggestions will be different then if you can't. Smothering Tithe and Birds of Paradise for example are very good cards for ramp, but they might be too expensive for the budget.

What advice about upgrades would you like?

Some cards from the precon that can be cut since they're not as good as others or don't have good enough synergy with Ghired:

This is a really cool build. I love the idea of playing with the lesser known token types. However, I think the deck will struggle to consistently hit all of its colors. The addition of cards like Commander's Sphere , Darksteel Ingot , and Fellwar Stone are all budget options that would do wonders for your mana fixing. You might also consider Coalition Relic which costs a little more $$ but is a really good fixer.

Since you already run 10 guild gates, Maze's End might be a fun alternative win-con which could also serve as a slow form of mana fixing.

Another more recent, but obscure token producer is Doomed Artisan

Lastly, you might consider cards like Subterranean Tremors , Phyrexian Rebirth and Rootborn Defenses

Happy deck building!

Neat list! You might like these: Well of Lost Dreams (lets you draw tons of cards from your general's lifegain ability), Mimic Vat (if you populate the token, you keep the populated copy!), Doomed Artisan , Phyrexian Processor , Nullmage Shepherd

You've got wayyyyy too many big cmc creatures. Stuff like Blightsteel Colossus , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth are fun and all, but how often are you going to find yourself already a bit short on mana with only 30 lands? The general consensus is around 36-39 lands. I would also add some cards like Swords to Plowshares , Dragonmaster Outcast and Doomed Artisan with that little mana. Honestly if you take out the 9-10 highest cmc creatures here and replace them with the 3 I recommended earlier and basics it'll be pretty solid.

The Doll Maker

Creature — Human Artificer

, : Gain control of target creature with power less than The Doll Maker's power and put a mannequin counter on it.  That creature loses all abilities and becomes a construct artifact in addition to its other types.

Construct creatures you control can't attack.

, sacrifice another creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on The Doll Maker.

“Now you will be perfect forever.”

I promise I designed this before Doomed Artisan was spoiled.
