Sideboard

  • Super flexible

  • Can beat any deck with enough mana and the right draws

  • turn 4 win is possible against some strategies assuming they scoop because they can't play anything

Core: Your main strategy and engine

Gifts Ungiven: Main engine, plus you can Double Entomb by only choosing 2 cards.

Unburial Rites: 1st card in the Double Entomb combo

Iona, Shield of Emeria: she turns off a color, SHE TURNS OFF A COLOR... if your playing mono colored anything you lose. She is your main pick for the Double Entomb combo. if you know what kind of removal they are playing choose that color and just win.

Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite: destroys all small creatures when it resolves, amazing against zoo and affinity

Support cards: Everything that helps you do what you want to do

Bring to Light: this is your 5 mana answer to everything. even though it is sorcery speed you will almost never mind tapping out to play this.

Life from the Loam: seeing as we are playing 5 colors this card can help you keep your mana flowing when in a tight spot

Glen Elendra Archmage: a power house against control. you can search for her with Bring to Light and then just freely cast Gifts Ungiven

Thragtusk: part of your top end on your deck. Thragtusk is great when your fight a player with lots of removal as he is a nice sponge. can be grabbed by bring to light, not to mention he can stabilize you against a very aggressive player.

Baneslayer Angel: the other half of your top end of your deck. Baneslayer Angel is a rock on the battlefield, first strike and lifelink is a dirty combo if they cant remove her

Eternal Witness: is a useful gifts combo piece, that hold value whenever you draw into her

Snapcaster Mage: another useful gifts combo piece, that allows us to recast our removal spells at a whim

Liliana of the Veil: she fills lots of spots in this deck but mainly she give you a way to get a naturally drawn Elesh or Iona into the grave for your combo. she is also hard removal and puts a clock on your opponent.

Lingering Souls: helps you tempo, great to grab with gifts if you already have half your double Entomb combo.

Ramp: 4-5 colors of mana can be a pain to get, these guys help you get there

Sylvan Caryatid: ramps you from 2-4 with the land drop, has hexproof and a big butt, worth on every level

Birds of Paradise: synergies with Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, ramps us from 1-3. play a turn 2 Liliana of the Veil and laugh as they struggle to deal with it

Disruption: Hand disruption is key to this deck as it slows your opponent or takes away their removal/counter spells

Inquisition of Kozilek: the primary choice, removes most of what you want to remove from your opponents hand

Thoughtseize: for 2 life it grab everything else that Inquisition of Kozilek cant. also can be used to to dump a naturally drawn Elesh or Iona

Raven's Crime : can be used to force a control player under as you just keep casting it over and over again. also can be used to to dump a naturally drawn Elesh or Iona

Removal: anything that could be a problem for you needs to die asap

Abrupt Decay: you primary removal spell hit everything that is small, as well as Blood Moon and other stuff that messes with you alot

Maelstrom Pulse: same idea in the fact that it hits everything, this is pretty much a catch all

Path to Exile: Indestructible and recursion mean nothing when you can just exile that threat

Sultai Charm: all three effects are useful to you. remove a creature, draw and drop a naturally drawn Elesh or Iona, or take down the enchantment or artifact that is giving you trouble.

Damnation: classic board wipe which can be grabbed by Bring to Light turn 5 to reset the board

Note: in some cases Lingering Souls or Bring to Light can be added to a Gifts combo if you already have a piece in your hand or grave

Double Entomb combos:

Unburial Rites + Iona, Shield of Emeria

Unburial Rites + Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

Control buster combo:

Life from the Loam + Raven's Crime + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Tectonic Edge/Ghost Quarter

Midrange aggro combo:

Baneslayer Angel/Glen Elendra Archmage + Thragtusk + Unburial Rites + Eternal Witness

Removal combo:

Maelstrom Pulse + Path to Exile + Sultai Charm/Liliana of the Veil + Abrupt Decay/Snapcaster Mage/Bring to Light*

Note: i did not include any 3 card combos because they are very situational in use and play-ability

So first off let me mention a few cards that need to be in your sideboard because they help your deck in lots of ways:

Sigarda, Host of Herons: deals with heavy removal decks, great vs Liliana of the Veil, can be Bring to Lighted, one of the few creatures i really debated having in my mainboard

Timely Reinforcements: Deals with all aggro deck, the life gain on its own help you stabilize before you drop Gifts, the #1 sideboard card for this deck for sure

Spellskite: Messes with bogles and infect, any deck playing black and white removal this helps fight, good creature in a burn/zoo matchup

So what are we bad against if we can beat everything, we are bad against decks that try to win turn 3 or sooner, destroy our mana, kills our grave or stops us from searching our library

Control:Tron - - - - Sideboards: Crumble to Dust, Aven Mindcensor, Path to Exile

Aggro: Robots, Burn, Infect - - - - Sideboards: Engineered Explosives, Wrath of God, Creeping Corrosion, Path to Exile, Timely Reinforcements

Midrange: Hatebears - - - - Sideboard: Path to Exile, Engineered Explosives, Wrath of God, Timely Reinforcements, A Hope And A Prayer

Combo: Grishoalbrand, Living End - - - - Sideboards: Slaughter Games, Rakdos Charm, Aven Mindcensor, Dispel, Negate

Hated Cards: Relic of Progenitus, Scavenging Ooze, Grafdigger's Cage, Blood Moon, Rest in Peace - - - - Sideboards: Anguished Unmaking, Rakdos Charm, Path to Exile, Engineered Explosives

These are all just suggestions for good sideboard cards for our less than favorable match-ups
