With the release of Modern Horizons comes Ayula, Queen Among Bears, a great bear tribal commander. This list is a budgetish version I've put together, including a few expensive cards I think really add to the deck like Bearscape, Panharmonicon, and Words of Wilding. The rest of the deck is filled out with cards that tap into a go wide or go tall strategy for your +1/+1 counters.

Deck Basics

You'll want to get out Ayula early to begin stacking up counters on her if you plan to go tall or over your bears if you're going wide and to control the board via fighting. After this you can ramp while playing more and building up Aylua and other bears with +1/+1 counters. If your board is threatened, you can use Inspiring Call or Wrap in Vigor to protect it, Ranger's Guile allows for a more direct way to protect a Ayula with a high concentration of +1/+1 counters.

Winning

The main way to win is through a hybrid of buffing Ayula with +1/+1 counters while creating more bears. Alpha Status, and Stoneforge Masterwork work to buff Ayula along with her own ability. Overrun and Overwhelming Stampede work as finishers, buffing your already buffed up bears, allowing you to go in for the winning blow.

Upgrades

As a budgetish deck, I exclude some more powerful and expensive options. Some of the ramp and cards relating to whatever strategy you don't want to lean into can be taken out for cards such as Doubling Season, Heroic Intervention, Triumph of the Hordes, Vanquisher's Banner, Zendikar Resurgent.

In Conclusion

This is a cheap and frame for a stronger Ayula deck. There is much that can be built on to make the deck stronger and much more competitive. At the point it is currently, it suffices as an introduction to the commander herself.
