Flaxen Intruder

Creature — Human Berserker

Whenever Flaxen Intruder deals combat damage to a player, you may sacrifice it. When you do, destroy target artifact or enchantment.

(You may cast Flaxen Intruder from exile if you sent it on an adventure.)

Welcome Home

Sorcery — Adventure

Create three 2/2 Bear creature tokens.

(You may cast Welcome Home for from anywhere that you have the permission to cast this, then exile it on an adventure instead of putting it into your graveyard. When you have not chosen to cast Welcome Home, this card is treated only as Flaxen Intruder in whatever zone it is in.)

(Example scenarios for Welcome Home: You may cast this off of Melek, Izzet Paragon. You may not target this with Snapcaster Mage. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben increases the cost of this. Electrodominance requires X=7. If your opponent owns this and you cast it, you may cast their Flaxen Intruder from exile. You may cast this from a cascade spell if the spell has a cost greater than Flaxen Intruder's cost.)

Yeah, basically the card is treated as it’s front side until you play it, and when playing it you pick which side to play.

The same for adventure cards too (always treated as the creature), which I haven’t really looked at beyond Fae of Wishes. Looking into them, Flaxen Intruder seems like a decent idea for The Gitrog Monster's slot. It's the same total power/toughness, and I can find it with only 2 colors. I'll have to keep it in mind moving forward. Too bad it needs to connect for the enchantment hate, or I'd probably slot it in without playtesting for the coincidental Blood Moon hate.

Xica on Theory Crafting a Turbo Tibalt …

In general i highly doubt decks will be built to cascade into the card.
For the same deckbuilding cost you can cascade into Crashing Footfalls & Flaxen Intruder which can end the game quickly, unlike tibalt who is best used in a more interactive shell.
On the other hand i could easily see BBE jund playing 2-3 copies for value play. Cascading into it from BBE solves the "it dies to creatures" issue, and jund is a deck that can be expected to sometimes survive games long enough to hardcast it (W6 playing into it to a significant degree).

I have to disagree with your evaluation.
The front face of tibalt can be extremely punishing situationally.

Naturally its meta depebdant, however taking Uro with it to draw, make land drops & deny the same opportunity from the opponent who would like to ramp into field of the dead is huge.

And alternative cost creatures are not the only way to abuse the effect. I am pretty confident that doing stuff like copying eidolon of the great revel during every turn of a burn player - and not copying during your own turn - can be extremely damaging.

You can only cast the creature version of the adventurer card, and only if it has a converted mana cost of 2 or less. For example, you can cast Flaxen Intruder or Order of Midnight because they're permanent spells with CMC 2 or less, but you can't cast Welcome Home or Alter Fate because they're not permanent spells (and Welcome Home costs way too much). The important rule is the following one:

715.3a When casting an adventurer card as an Adventure, only the alternative characteristics are evaluated to see if it can be cast.

For future reference, you can link a card's imagine by surrounding the card's name with double brackets ("["). This works sitewide.

To your question though, you can cast an Adventure spell with Lurrus provided that the half that you want to cast is two CMC or less.

There are a couple of important notes, though. In every zone except for the stack when it was cast as an Adventure, an Adventurer card is a creature card with the characteristics of that creature. So, a Flaxen Intruder wouldn't violate Lurrus's Companion restriction as it's CMC is one. Second, there is a legality check when you cast a spell with Lurrus's cast-from-graveyard ability. This happens right after you decided what half of the spell you're casting (as well as stuff, like picking targets). So, you can cast Flaxen Intruder, but you can't cast the other half, Welcome Home. This is similar to how you can cast Stonecoil Serpent for X=2 but not X=3 with Lurrus.

Hope this helps!!

5dollarMTG on $5 Bear Sleuth

Ok. I've had so much fun playing around with the variant I suggested that I ended up updated the deck - dropped Flaxen Intruder, Dragon-Scarred Bear, and two copies of Paragon of Eternal Wilds. Added in Wild Beastmaster, more Syr Faren, the Hengehammer, and more Exuberant Wolfbear.

Good one seshiro_of_the_orochi. If you really want to up the synergy, sub in two more Syr Faren, the Hengehammer for Flaxen Intruder, four Wild Beastmaster for Ulvenwald Bear, and three more Exuberant Wolfbear for Paragon of Eternal Wilds. Syr Faren, the Hengehammer into Wild Beastmaster into Exuberant Wolfbear will give you a pretty sick attack step on turn 5 - especially if you throw in an Overrun. If I'm doing my math right, you'll have an 11/11, an 18/18, and another 18/18, all with trample.

Since you liked my comment, I can share a bit more of my thoughts.

You have this sub-theme where you sacrifice lands for very little value, I am guessing in a hope to play The Mending of Dominaria or Splendid Reclamation and get them back. This mechanic seems cumbersome and inefficient. I would suggest the following:

CUTS
Splendid Reclamation
The Mending of Dominaria
Renewal
Arcane Spyglass
Harrow
Ramunap Excavator

ADDITIONS
Kodama's Reach is better than Renewal or Harrow for this deck
Bear Umbra allows you to cast before and after (or during) your attack phase.
Overrun, Overwhelming Stampede, Scale Up and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa would all be great ways to win the game with an Alpha strike.

I have tried to keep the suggestions on a budget, but if you want to spend a bit for your friend's next birthday, Finale of Devastation would also be awesome.

I would also look into replacing Riptide Replicator and Volrath's Laboratory with Flaxen Intruder and Beast Whisperer.

Finally, an Emerald Medallion could be useful in here instead of Commander's Sphere.

Hope this helps!

You could kick out one Vivien's Grizzly and one Flaxen Intruder to fit in two Werebear.
