Turbulent Dreams Discussion

Ares666 that one slipped by me. I'll take a look at it. Removal good. Is it better than Knollspine Invocation though? Typically I can only recover one spell per turn with this current build. If the deck was extra combat driven Firestorm is in instantly.

I could test it in place of Turbulent Dreams . The instant speed makes it more desirable, however dreams doesn't need to worry about damage for removal. Hmm. Great suggestion. Thank you.

Thanks for commenting, ClockworkSwordfish! Personally, I think the downside of Turbulent Dreams is mitigated by it being two mana, instead of 7, like Cyclonic Rift. I'm not saying it is Cyclonic Rift, but it's a great budget alternative.

I know this topic has been beaten to death and back again, but I recently stumbled across some very underrated cards: The Dreams cycle, from Torment. Each card besides one has less then 1,000 decks on EDHrec, and while some of the cycle are meta-specific, a couple of them should be staples. Like Nostalgic Dreams, a two-mana scaleable Regrowth, getting back all your best cards while discarding all your worst, or Turbulent Dreams, a 2 mana board wipe in any deck that draws a lot of cards, like Kruphix, God of Horizons, The Locust God, both of which are very popular generals. Or what about Insidious Dreams, while even though it has 1.7 thousand decks, should be a black staple? Do you have any underrated cards in EDH? Personally, underrated means, at least to me, having less then 1,000 decks on EDHrec. Thanks!

Some of these suggestions might not be strong enough, but I think Firestorm is an going to be one of the best non-counterspell interactive spells for this deck. Rites of Refusal deserves consideration for a slot over at least Counterspell despite not being a true hard counter.

Along the line of Firestorm, Conflagrate and Turbulent Dreams can be considered at the same time. I think Ideas Unbound probably doesn't make the cut, but is worth consideration. These are all probably stronger than Flux, which seems to be the weakest link currently.

What are your thoughts on commander dependent pseudo-, Deflecting Swat and Bolt Bend, for decks with a strategy of getting their commander out by turn 2?

There's a couple more flicker effects that I don't see in your main or sideboard like Nephalia Smuggler / Displace / Illusionist's Stratagem / Deadeye Navigator and weird ones like Baral's Expertise and Supplant Form . And creatures that counter spells work well with blink like Frilled Mystic / Mystic Snake / Draining Whelk .

There's also Everflowing Chalice / Astral Cornucopia that work with Pir, and Thrummingbird / Skyship Plunderer that are basically magpies (with Toothy) and help the counter themes. Tel-Jilad Stylus / Crystal Shard / Lord of the Unreal helps with protecting Toothy. What do you think about Whirlpool Drake / Whirlpool Rider / Forgotten Creation / Teferi's Puzzle Box as an additional Alhammarret's Archive? Turbulent Dreams is a nice additional Cyclonic Rift. And why do you run no planeswalkers like Kiora, the Crashing Wave / Nissa, Vital Force / Garruk, Primal Hunter (they enter the battlefield and activate with an additional counter with Pir.

What do you think of Empyrial Plate / Thassa, God of the Sea / Words of Wilding / Sphinx's Tutelage / Psychic Corrosion / Key to the City as an extra wincon? I have my own deck (here)[http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/22-07-18-pirtoothy/?cat=type&sort=cost] and I'm considering if these are suboptimal.
