Thundercloud Shaman Discussion

I really dig the Changeling Dragon theme. I've seen this deck, it was fun to watch, and it's neat to see the insides. Do your 1 and 2-drop changelings make a difference? How well have the planeswalkers worked out?

Cards to consider removing (5): Champion of Dusk, Cloudshredder Sliver, Lovisa Coldeyes, Thundercloud Shaman, Merrow Commerce,

Cards to consider (14): Kindred Dominance, Heirloom Blade, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Blood Tribute, Forerunner of the Legion, Metallic Mimic, Dregscape Sliver, Harmonic Sliver, Necrotic Sliver, and Kindred Discovery. Also with over 40 creatures having more effects that trigger with creatures entering the battle field seem useful: Aura Shards, Cathars' Crusade, Guardian Project, Soul of the Harvest, and Chulane, Teller of Tales.

I don't personally like creatures that reduce costs. I'd rather play a mana dork, or rock. How often do you empty your hand? Would wheel spells be useful? I personally like Lifecrafter's Bestiary. You currently have 16 shapeshifters (w/o Crib Swap, Shields of Velis Vel). I don't know how much you want to play with that number, but I wonder how good some of the cards are (Changeling Outcast, Fire-Belly Changeling, Impostor of the Sixth Pride, Mothdust Changeling, Woodland Changeling).

I like the unique take of using changeling to get reductions from the eminence keyword and then trying to get some fun payoffs from lords. That said with 16 changelings, including Amoeboid Changeling and Mirror Entity and 28 pay off cards. I feel like you are forcing a lot of "lords" into a deck where it doesn't really matter.

Some of the lords I would remove because there aren't worth the slot for the small effect on a few changelings. Cloudshredder Sliver, Drogskol Captain, Lord of the Unreal, and Lovisa Coldeyes. Most of your changelings are small and giving them a small bump is P/T and haste or hexproof isn't worth forcing these cards into the deck.

Sliver Overlord, Realm-Cloaked Giant, and Thundercloud Shaman are on my maybe list because they are a bit more situational. Are you going to spend 3 mana to search for a changeling to get an effect? Do you want to wrath away your dragons and leave a team of small giants? Not sure how often these show up.

Changeling to think about including are Taurean Mauler and Chameleon Colossus, you have enough ETB trigger that Birthing Boughs might even be good.

Other payoff cards to think about Oona's Blackguard, Rage Forger, Shared Animosity, The Circle of Loyalty, Distant Melody, Forerunner of the Coalition, Riptide Director , and Necromancer's Covenant

This is great! Crush Underfoot is great removal, and Thundercloud Shaman is very good at killing off opposing blockers.

(Edit: Updates now on (List) Coward_Token's custom cards)

I feel that some tribes are only partially supported. Rather than trying to fix each individual tribe, I've tried to think of some cards that would be good enough for the lesser tribes but not so good that the established ones like Goblins & Merfolk would also benefit. This way, the situation would be remedied for all underdog tribes, both present and future. Hopefully this isn't too misguided; let me know what you think.

Width token makers

The following are meant for tribal cards which would appreciate going wide but have difficulty doing so reliably, e.g. Thundercloud Shaman or Admiral Beckett Brass (why does Grixis only have one Pirate token maker available?). One concern I have with these is that they could be problematic with some cards, e.g. Reaper King , Soulcatchers' Aerie and Gilt-Leaf Archdruid .

Red white giants might be better, as you get things like Feudkiller's Verdict and Hundred-Handed One. Also Sunrise Sovereign is really strong. Crush Underfoot is really good too. If you search for giants in the lorwyn block you will find some underused gems for sure. Also Palisade Giant will let you cast Thundercloud Shaman without killing off your mana helpers.

But you only have oneSwarmborn Giant and every giant you sacrifice decrease the effects on Sunrise Sovereign and Thundercloud Shaman...idk.

Anyways you know I don't understand the beauty of sacrificing creatures.

Personally, after seeing the Wade Into Battle Commander 2015 deck, I lost all confidence in Giant Tribal. Then again, that's mainly because of the fact that my friends think that it is trash, and they have been playing longer than me, so I trust them.

Anyway, there's always Borderland Behemoth and Thundercloud Shaman, both of which are good additions to a Giant Tribal deck.

You can possibly try out Bearer of the Heavens, Pharagax Giant, Stoneshock Giant, Bloodfire Colossus, Impelled Giant, and Boldwyr Intimidator.

I have a tribal Giant deck that is mostly lorwyn and morningtide cards. It can be pretty fun, my secondary theme was double strike so it gets nasty fast. Some cards I would consider looking at or thinking about are thus: Favor of the Mighty, Wandering Graybeard, and Thundercloud Shaman

Best of luck with your deck!
