Sentinel's Eyes Discussion

I'm not sure how exactly Quin plays yet, but I'm trying to come up with something with him too so I'll throw some cards I thought were interesting at you. Sentinel's Eyes seems decent, with Quin out it gives you two 3/2s for , which is pretty good. Battle Screech is just a generally strong tokens card so it fits with the token support, but also gives you a 3/2 (for free!). Same with Increasing Devotion , although thats definitely a lower power level just because of the mana cost. Prismatic Strands / Rally the Peasants are both also pretty strong cards that also will just throw in a 3/2 with Quin.

You have quite a few humans, so maybe throw in Bruna, the Fading Light  Flip, and if you want to meld, Gisela, the Broken Blade ? Bruna's solid on her own, but I might just be biased because I love meld. Angel of Glory's Rise too, depending on how many humans you end up with. You could also play things like Resurrection and Breath of Life , or even Gate to the Afterlife / God-Pharaoh's Gift . Angelic Renewal goes infinite with Sun Titan and a sac outlet, which you should probably have at least one more of. Ashnod's Altar is the go too, but I think its pretty expensive nowadays, so maybe Blasting Station , Dark-Dweller Oracle , or Grafted Exoskeleton

A bunch of the phoenixes seem decent, since they always return. I think the best ones would be Flamewake Phoenix , Rekindling Phoenix , and Skyfire Phoenix . Flamewake seems great since with Quin your spirits activate ferocious, the others I'd be more skeptical about.

Well I hope that's at least somewhat helpful lol

zerowner: Thanks!

  1. Starfield of Nyx: My reasoning is the high cmc and lack of synergy. I tried to be really careful when choosing any spells over 3 cmc in this deck and this one just didn't make the cut. It can sometimes be a dud if I don't have important Enchantments in my graveyard; although it does have a very high ceiling. It's second ability is really strong but is lackluster in this deck due to the high number of Auras. Sram also needs Auras "cast," not entering the battlefield.

  2. Sphere of Safety: It is a really good recommendation. I think I will play test the deck for a little bit and then decide if I need it to stay in the game.

  3. Sentinel's Eyes: Didn't even look at this card, it's good! Any recommendations on what to switch out for it?

Cool deck! Any reason for no Starfield of Nyx or Sphere of Safety?

Sentinel's Eyes would probably be incredibly powerful in this deck- one mana to trigger a lot of your enchantment/aura centric effects.

my recommendation would be to make Lurrus a 4 or 3x in the deck and don't bind yourself to his companion conditions. Call of the Death-Dweller and Murderous Rider and Demonic Embrace are then cards to consider.

Either way, I think Mogis's Favor /Sentinel's Eyes Indomitable Will / Pacifism / Trapped in the Tower / Grim Physician / Malevolent Noble / Witch's Oven are all candidates for the chopping block.

For creature control 4x Dead Weight and 4x Mire's Grasp + either Heartless Act or Murderous Rider should be all you need. I play a lot of Hateful Eidolon and getting the payoff with those enchantments is huge. So it's best to keep a heavy focus on that.

I like the deck and wg +1/+1 counters with sacrifice is nice.

Weapon Rack and Thrive for getting +1/+1 counters on your creatures. Serrated Arrows is a bit of a stretch, but with proliferate, it could help.

Cards with escape like Loathsome Chimera, Voracious Typhon, and Sentinel's Eyes can be useful for you strategy, as they allow late-game recursion that also has +1/+1 counters on the creatures. Travel Preparations also can spread around +1/+1 counters.

Ivy Elemental, Apex Hawks, and Gnarlid Colony are nice creatures that can come in with +1/+1 counters, as well as being flexible in the early and late game.

Antler Skulkin can help with creature protection.

Not super familiar with the non-pauper builds of this deck, but it seems like you would want more enchantments to target your heroic creatures. The pauper deck runs: Cartouche of Solidarity, Ethereal Armor, Hyena Umbra, and Sentinel's Eyes. I actually found your deck because the above comment mentioned Wingsteed Rider. I really wish there was another heroic card to add to the deck, but I'm not sure Wingsteed Rider is going to be good enough. A downshifted Phalanx Leader would be killer for the pauper build.

Nice deck. Just a few possible alternative auras that I feel could add to the deck. Sentinel's Eyes I find does a lot of work, the vigilance gives you an important blocker in a deck with a very low creature presence most of the time, and then can also recur itself if your hexproof thing ever dies. Setessan Training is a cheap way of giving trample that also draws you a card, and when playing with it often find it better than Unflinching Courage. This deck is also very light on removal, so Cartouche of Strength seems another better alternative to Courage. Finally, Setessan Champion might be interesting. It functions almost identically to Sram, but the extra growth may come in useful at times, as might the ability to have two in play at once. Hope this is helpful.
