Sideboard

Maybeboard

This is currently my main deck. It is built off of the Gilder Bairn combo with Paradise Mantle and Training Grounds . Any ideas for what to add or subtract are appreciated.

An ideal game is: Turn 1: Island , Training Grounds Turn 2: Forest , Paradise Mantle , Pentad Prism with two counters Turn 3: Gilder Bairn , remove counter from Pentad Prism for 1 mana, equip Paradise Mantle to Gilder Bairn Turn 4: Island , lots of counters on Pentad Prism , remove counters from Pentad Prism for lots of mana, Blue Sun's Zenith for x = a lot.

The alternate win condition is putting a lot of counters on Walking Ballista so I can deal a lot of damage. I replaced Teferi, Time Raveler in the Mainboard with Walking Ballista for this reason. In MTGO I replaced the Teferi, Time Raveler in the sideboard as well since it's so expensive. Pentad Prism should be able to get me infinite mana. The big thing I need to do is figure out ways to draw cards using the Gilder Bairn combo. I'm trying to decide between Calciform Pools and Druids' Repository for infinite mana. I can tutor Druids' Repository but Calciform Pools is free.

I'm starting to think that infinite mana is very hard, and I should instead use a different win con? Maybe Azor's Elocutors ?

I think that infinite mana is too hard to produce with this deck. Most of the cards don't come in with counters, which is an important part of the combo. I think instead I will replace the infinite mana engines with Birds of Paradise and use Simic Ascendancy as my win condition. Here is my new ideal scenario:

Turn 1: Forest, Birds of Pardise

Turn 2: Island, tap Forest and Birds of Paradise for {U}, play Simic Ascendancy and Training Grounds

Turn 3: Any land, Gilder Bairn, Paradise Mantle, equip Paradise Mantle to Gilder Bairn

Turn 4: Either put a +1/+/ counter on Gilder Bairn or drop Walking Ballista to get a counter on Simic Ascendancy. Then use Gilder Bairn to pump up the number of +1/+1 counters on the creature that has them. This will put counters on Simic Ascendancy to win the game. The important part is to pump up the number of +1/+1 counters so that if it's Walking Ballista I can win by removing counters if Simic Ascendancy is removed or I can beat down if it's Gilder Bairn.

I might go back to the infinite mana if this proves to be too slow or fragile. I added Fabricate to the side board so I can test the deck online, but it might move to the mainboard as a way to tutor up Walking Ballista. I would get rid of Simic Ascendancy in that case, which might be the best move.
