king-saproling on Tarot Deck - for play or divination

Thanks KingKilvas, glad you like it. Yeah there are definitely some cards in here that are way too costly, like Angus and Wheel of Fortune.

Cho-Manno, Revolutionary or Commander Eesha could work as The Hermit in place of Angus. The new art for Windfall works nicely as a Three of Coins in place of Wheel of Fortune, and represents the Three of Coins just as well meaning-wise.

The landbase could definitely be made more budget friendly by replacing the shocks, fetches, and other fancy lands (like wow Mana Confluence is way too pricey now) with more tri-lands (e.g. Crumbling Necropolis ) and things like Terramorphic Expanse and Bant Panorama .

All that said, I doubt many people would take offense at the use of proxies for a deck like this. I'm even thinking of making a digital proxy for each card in the style of tarot cards.

If you're having issues with mana, then I definitely wouldn't extend the deck to three colours! Instead consider making room for the likes of Marble Diamond, Pearl Medallion, Worn Powerstone and Temple of the False God as well as the various white cards that can piggyback off your opponent's ramp, like Tithe, Gift of Estates, Knight of the White Orchid and Oreskos Explorer.

Also, I'm surprised you aren't running Errand of Duty! Having access to banding at instant speed is pretty handy. I'd also recommend Return to Dust over Ray of Distortion - it gets two targets for four mana rather than ten mana, and exiles them to boot - and something like Brave the Sands since banding pairs well with vigilance.

Another thing to consider is that banding is at its best when you have a scapegoat to soak up all the damage. That could be anything from Cho-Manno, Revolutionary to Seraph of the Sword to Darksteel Myr.

A Pariah can be handy, Cho-Manno, Revolutionary , Heliod, Sun-Crowned or another God, these can also make enemy attackers irrelevant (for damage anyways), allowing you time to set up, and then once set up you can just sit back and let the indestructible take the damage.

Idyllic Tutor can help find enchantments and isn't wildly expensive, which is nice.

I may be one of the few that actually remember playing Mercadian Masque in the Type 2 (Standard for you whippersnappers.) format. My favorite card of the set, outside of Counterspell was Tidal Kraken . It was only a 6/6 unblockable for eight mana, which is way overpriced by today's current Standards. A little surprised you didn't mention Conspiracy the card. It was the first of it's kind with the most recent "reprint" being Arcane Adaptation . Or my favorite/annoying combo consisting of Cho-Manno, Revolutionary and Pariah .

There were five artifacts, one land and a handful of white rebels that created lore of a creature that would eventually end up being printed for Commander 2017, Ramos, Dragon Engine . The first iterations of the artifact dragon came from Henge of Ramos , Eye of Ramos , Heart of Ramos , Horn of Ramos , Skull of Ramos and Tooth of Ramos .

Neat idea! Have you thought of using something like Cho-Manno, Revolutionary + your Pariah ? This way any damage done to you gets absorbed by a creature that can prevent all the damage. Seems like a decent cover option in this brew. Deflecting Palm could be useful although it wouldn’t work all the time with Feather. Sandskin could be an interesting political card for you and/or could be another tool to turn your Wall of Hope into something that can’t die (just like Paraiah)—probbaly too redundant but another option there. Mirari although a tad costly in CMC could prove useful with all the spells your slinging and copying off of Feather, to copy again. Kind of janky nowadays with having to oay the extra 3 per spell, but an option. Maybe some additional ramp in Smothering Tithe or Tithe , Land Tax if your finding your ramp isn’t great. I’ll see if I can ponder a few more things because I feel like I’m forgetting some cards that would be really helpful.

+1 good luck!

@Cloudius, thanks for the suggestions, and the link to your deck. I like your build. I like the enchantments you have that do the removal thing, too. The more I play the deck, the more I will look into moving some of that stuff into my deck. I also thought about running with Pariah and something like Cho-Manno, Revolutionary to really be a pain in the ass.

I wasn't aware of Satyr Enchanter, which is more good card draw. Thanks for the suggestions! +1 for your deck.

What's your philosophy here? What do you want your deck to do?

Bound in Silence fits better than Pacifism since you can tutor for it. Same thing with Big Game Hunter over one of your kill spells. Pious Warrior and Shield Dancer make pretty good surprise blockers too.

Junktroller, Mistveil Plains, and Reito Lantern add a little redundancy to Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero, Mercenary Informer, and Rebel Informer.

You've also got pieces to a few combos but they would need a few more parts. Teysa, Orzhov Scion combos with Darkest Hour but it really needs a Blood Artist and Ashnod's Altar to work. Cho-Manno, Revolutionary combos with Pariah and Pariah's Shield. Those two also combo with Stuffy Doll.

One last Card. Conspiracy turns every creature into Rebels or Mercenaries, letting you tutor for any creature in your deck.

I'm still surprised that Magistrate's Scepter is getting reprinted in Core 2019. I didn't think any card from Mercadian Masques except for Cho-Manno, Revolutionary would be good enough to get into another set! :)
