When Unstable was spoiled, I was really hoping for a contraption-focused legendary creature to helm a silver-bordered deck. There was no such luck, unfortunately, so out of the thirteen or so eligible silver-bordered commanders, this is the one I chose.

Contraptions, as I implied, are the only major theme here, though there are a lot of smaller mini-themes to go along with that:

• Graveyard: There's a surprising amount of recursion in this deck, from Goblin Welder to Refibrillator to Volrath's Stronghold. This is what helps keep the deck around after the initial seven-card burst or so.
• Tokens: The Big Idea makes tokens, so it makes sense to have something to do with them. This mostly takes the form of Skullclamp and other various sac outlets.
• Dice Rolling: The other half of The Big Idea. The prerequisite infinite combo is Mirage Mirror, Squirrel-Powered Scheme and Lobe Lobber to wipe the field of creatures and/or players
• Terrible Magic Cards: When I couldn't think of anything else definite, I snuck in some generally terrible (if still fun) cards like Hecatomb and Bone Dancer, the latter of which is notable for making opponents keep their graveyard in order like Garfield intended. Speaking of terrible cards...
• Last but not least, a flagrant disregard for some of the more contestable rules. Color Identity is one, though Sap Sucker can be taken out if you really really really care. EDH's recognized ban list is another, with card:R&D's Secret Lair making an appearance just for kicks.

The deck has been a blast every time I've played it so far. At the very least, I hope it gives some new-ish ideas to those ignoring the January 15th Un-set revert.
