and mystical creatures roamed freely, there existed an unlikely alliance forged in the shadows. The Ghost of Ramirez DePietro, a spectral pirate captain with a tragic past, found an unexpected companion in Tormod, the Desecrator, a necromancer feared by many. It all began when Ramirez's ghostly ship, the Siren's Call, sailed into Tormod's desolate domain. Tormod, known for his dark arts and mastery over the undead, was initially wary of the spectral intruder. However, fate had different plans. Ramirez, bound to the ethereal plane, sought a way to reclaim his lost glory and break the curse that tethered him to the ghostly existence. Tormod, intrigued by the challenge, saw an opportunity to enhance his necromantic powers with the aid of a spectral captain.

Together, they embarked on a quest across Eldraine, facing mythical creatures and rival sorcerers. The Ghost of Ramirez DePietro's spectral crew blended seamlessly with Tormod's undead minions, creating a formidable force that struck fear into the hearts of their enemies. As their journey unfolded, the duo discovered artifacts and spells that amplified their powers. Ramirez's spectral cutlass gleamed with enchantments, and Tormod's mastery over necromancy reached new heights. The alliance, initially born out of necessity, blossomed into a powerful synergy that defied the conventional boundaries of magic.

And so, the Ghost of Ramirez DePietro and Tormod, the Desecrator, became a legendary duo, their stories intertwined with the magic that pulsated through Eldraine. As they united their forces in a formidable Magic: The Gathering deck, their opponents soon learned to fear the unpredictable and otherworldly alliance that stood before them.

Alliance of the Forgotten

An unlikely duo, bonded by their unwavering sense of adventure, embarked on a journey that would defy expectations and create memories to last a lifetime.

Welcome to Pauper EDH featuring Ghost of Ramirez DePietro and Tormod, the Desecrator. This midrange, non-infinite combo deck aims to self-mill itself to gain card advantage/card selection with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro while raising the zombie army to devastate its foes.

There is a high volume of creatures in this deck so we can use Lotleth Giant to finish off an opponent and reusing its ETB with Cavern Harpy. The same concept applies to Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Cavern Harpy to drain all opponents while maintaining a healthy life total. Tormod, the Desecrator zombie token generation is also a fairly reliable way to end the game with combat damage.

The main gameplan is to mill as much as your library out to finish off opponents with the Lotleth Giant ETB. There are 31 creatures including the two commanders making 31 points of damage assuming they haven't gained any life. The most reliable way to fill up the graveyard is with Stinkweed Imp with one of the 4 discard outlets: Dreamscape Artist, Tortured Existence, Security Bypass, & Pirate Hat. Once you have enough, you can reanimate Lotleth Giant with Dread Return to go for a the win against an opponent. You want to play Ghost of Ramirez DePietro, but he is more of a draw engine rather than a win con as many cards in this deck are very synergistic with him. Later you can play out Tormod, the Desecrator once much of the removal has been used so it's easier to create an undead army. Together they create a very nice engine of a mixture of a consistent zombie army and card draw.
- Lotleth Giant - 31 creatures, including the 2 commanders to deal up to 31 points of damage. Mill him over and reanimate him with Dread Return, or buy him back with Reaping the Graves, Death Denied or Tortured Existence. Repeatable with Cavern Harpy or Ghostly Flicker + Archaeomancer.

- Gray Merchant of Asphodel - huge life gain while dealing damage to your opponents. Repeatable with Cavern Harpy or Ghostly Flicker + Archaeomancer.

- Liliana's Elite - Big beater, at max can become a 32/32 and can be given evasion by Windcaller Aven and Security Bypass.

- Arcane Signet - Standard Ramp

- Deranged Assistant - Ramp, works with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro to "draw" a card

- Dimir Signet - Standard Ramp

- Dreamscape Artist - Reusable Ramp, Buyback with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro, very good outlet for Stinkweed Imp

- Lorien Revealed - Land search. Reusable with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro. Can search for Contaminated Aquifer, Mystic Sanctuary & Ice Tunnel

- Nightscape Familiar - Mana reduction on blue

- Troll of Khazad-dum - Land search. Reusable with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro. Can search for Contaminated Aquifer, Mystic Sanctuary & Ice Tunnel

- Songs of the Damned - Big ritual of the deck. Works with Tortured Existence and Tormod, the Desecrator to create a large amount of zombies. Death Denied to get all the creatures back from the yard to out hand. The colorless portion of Capsize turns into while you can use the mana from Songs of the Damned to buyback multiple times.

- Stinkweed Imp - most important mill card, discord outlets to keep it going: Dreamscape Artist, Tortured Existence, Security Bypass, Pirate Hat. Stinkweed becomes a dig 5, return 1.

- Jace's Erasure - Can trigger multiple times in the same turn if you draw.

- Shard of Broken Glass - repeatable mill that pairs very nicely with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro as you mill first then do combat damage after making it a select 2 while giving a +1/0 buff. High priority target for Trinket Mage and should be the first card to tutor for if you want to be proactive with the Ghost of Ramirez DePietro.

- Pirate Hat - repeatable loot that enables Stinkweed Imp. Turns into a draw 2 cards with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro while giving a +1/+1 buff. Happens before combat damage so you can buyback with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro.

- Mindwrack Harpy - repeatable mill 3. Happens before combat so you can buyback with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro.

- Snarling Gorehound - surveil 1 on most creatures in this deck. Also triggers a decent amount from Tormod, the Desecrator zombie tokens.

- Gorging Vulture - ETB mill + life gain

- Fallaji Archaeologist - ETB mill + card selection of non-creature, non-land.

- Arms of Hadar - One sided board wipe

- Capsize - repeatable removal for nonland permanents

- Crypt Rats - board wipe, damages opponents can be combed with Unexpected Fangs to ping the board by 1, while gaining life. Eternal Thirst makes it a win con as it grows removing creatures while dealing massive amount of damage to each opponents life total.

- Go for the Throat - efficient instant speed removal

- Oubliette - Can be considered the best removal for commanders as phasing doesn't allow them to go back to the command zone.

- Overwhelming Remorse - In this deck, it's a Path to Exile with no downside

- Witness Protection Lock down a problematic creature

- Azure Fleet Admiral - You are the true king, keep the title and draw all those cards that you deserve. Picture for reference.

- Gempalm Polluter - cycle that works with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro and deals a bit of damage from the amount of zombies on the field (Tormod, the Desecrator makes zombies). - Mulldrifter - creature, ETB card draw.

- Rowan's Grim Search - by default, mill 2 draw 2 = dig 4, draw 3 with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro. By sacrificing a zombie token made by Tormod, the Desecrator it becomes dig 6 draw 3 with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro.

- Treasure Cruise - draw 3 for , need i say more. Just make sure the priority for exile is lands/enchantments/artifacts (we have no way of getting them back outside of Ghost of Ramirez DePietro), instants and sorcery, then creatures (we need this for our win con, making it the lowest priority)

- Arcane Denial - unconditional counter that has a drawback

- Counterspell - unconditional counter

- Logic Knot - unconditional counter that can make a zombie with Tormod, the Desecrator

- Mirrorshell Crab - essentially uncounterable counter because of channel + a creature for Lotleth Giant

- Negate - counter non-creature spell

- Archaeomancer - ETB buyback on instants and sorceries.

- Death Denied - buyback on multiple creatures. Works well with Songs of the Damned.

- Dread Return - reanimate target is mostly Lotleth Giant

- Reaping the Graves - storm buyback for creatures, each storm trigger, triggers a zombie from Tormod, the Desecrator since happens one at a time.

- Shipwreck Dowser - ETB buyback on instants and sorceries.

- Tortured Existence - one of the best buyback creature cards, reusable. Great for Stinkweed Imp.

- Unearth - all targets: Brine Shaman, Cavern Harpy, Crypt Rats, Deranged Assistant, Dimir Infiltrator, Dreamscape Artist, Drift of Phantasms, Fallaji Archaeologist, Ghost of Ramirez DePietro, Gorging Vulture, Liliana's Elite, Merrow Bonegnawer, Nightscape Familiar, Snarling Gorehound, Stinkweed Imp, & Trinket Mage.
- Aarakocra Sneak - Gives initiative, draws, buffs, creates a 4/1 menace token. Does a lot for 4 mana, and you don't need to have another card to trigger initiative again to get its effect. It triggers on upkeep and when you steal it back from opponents through combat damage. Just try to keep it as long as you can. Can use the Undercity multiple times. Here is the token card for reference and the rooms to go into. Typical path: Secret Entrance, Forge, Arena, Archives, Throne of the Dead Three.

- Aboshan's Desire - Evasion and eventually protection for Ghost of Ramirez DePietro

- Security Bypass - gives Ghost of Ramirez DePietro evasion while also getting back the card looted while growing him.

- Windcaller Aven - gives flying for Ghost of Ramirez DePietro while drawing a card and buying back the windcaller aven.

- Eternal Thirst - amazing vs creature sacrifice decks by growing your creature and having lifelink. Main targets Crypt Rats, Liliana's Elite, Ghost of Ramirez DePietro, Windcaller Aven, Troll of Khazad-dum, & Mirrorshell Crab.

- Unexpected Fangs - not as good as Eternal Thirst but it is a better starting point with Crypt Rats. See Eternal Thirst for targets.

- Elgaud Shieldmate - hexproof for key creatures.

- Relic of Progenitus - graveyard removal, also an engine for Tormod, the Desecrator to make zombies. Just make sure the priority for exile is lands/enchantments/artifacts (we have no way of getting them back outside of Ghost of Ramirez DePietro), instants and sorcery, then creatures (we need this for our win con, making it the lowest priority).

- Merrow Bonegnawer - turbo zombie maker with Tormod, the Desecrator. See Relic of Progenitus for exile priority list.

- Cavern Harpy - one of my favorite cards in my deck. Reuse every etb, while being a creature and can buyback itself for 1 life.

- Ghostly Flicker - with Archaeomancer or Shipwreck Dowser can reuse etbs.
- Trinket Mage - targets: Shard of Broken Glass (for Ghost of Ramirez DePietro), Relic of Progenitus for Tormod, the Desecrator.

Ghost of Ramirez DePietro can buyback transmute cards making it very consistent. It's probably easier to order the deck by converted cost then me listing out all the cards for each transmute card.
