Petitioners, just play em all

Hardcasting lots of petitioners... at least that's the plan... and it's working!!!

Hi everyone, The goal of this deck is to consistently win via milling your opponents with the persistent petitioners' second ability. It is not an optimal way to win, but it is a unique and interesting challenge. This deck can accomplish that efficiently, with creature based counterspell protection.

I wanted a deck with a boatload of persistent petitioners. Petitioners cost 2 mana, and with the artifacts and enchantments in this deck, we can reduce that cost to 1 or 0. This leaves you with 6ish petitioners on the board, and no cards in hand... not exactly a winning position.

How do we turn this into a winning position?

Answer: Play cards off of the top of your deck. Now our hand is as big as the number of consecutive cards that we can churn through. Also, I included a slew of top deck manipulation: Sensei's divining top, Thought Lash, and Petitioner's first ability (hidden tech). Remember with Momir, all of your mana dorks are worldly tutors, and blue/green creatures eladamri's calls (unless you use petitioner's first ability between triggers or something). This will help you keep the petitioner+draw train going. The goal is to pop out a slew of petitioners, tutor up your counterspells, and cast your seedborn muse all in one or two turns.

Play this deck if:

-- you want a deck with an overwhelming number of activated and triggered abilities.

-- you love solving puzzles

-- you want everyone to go "woah" when you win.

-- you enjoy the challenge of winning with an under-powered deck.

Do not play this deck if:

-- your main goal is to blow people out of the game very early.

-- you want a combat based deck

-- you want a linear game-play strategy

-- you want a deck that doesn't require goldfishing, and knowledge of the complete deck-list

TIPS For Making it work:

--It is complicated to get a feel for how this deck runs. It is my 12th-ish EDH deck, and it doesn't play like any of my others. I would highly recommend gold-fishing this deck using the "playtest" app offered by tapped-out. If you don't have enough petitioners to destroy your opponents by turn 8, you either have horrible luck or made some poor choices.

--The deck requires a good understanding of the deck's composition. Hopefully the groups that I have clumped the cards into reveal some insight into my strategy.

-- Do not forget petitioners' first ability!

--There is another sub-theme of using cloudstone curio, trusted adviser, eternal witness, and quickling to re-cast your counterspells. This is important for making it to the last turn.

--If your opponent has a Kozilek, there is a Nimble Obstructionist. This is very impotant.

-- Cloudstone Curio + Aluren + Momir Vig/Beast Whisperer/Coiling Oracle lets you play every petitioner in your deck all at once.

-- If you build this deck, a huge critical mass of creatures is essential to keeping petitioners + momir relevant. I run 56 creatures.

Hopefully you have enjoyed this Momir/Petitioners build. I'm had a great time building it, and am having fun improvng/winning with it at my weekly commander gathering. If you have any advice, questions, comments, please let me know! If you want me to look at your momir build, just say so! I'd be happy to let you know what is and isn't working for me.

Have fun: Play-test it. I assure you, we're open.
