A few users out there have posted what I refer to as ‘Compilation’ decks, such as the fantastic Guys Pointing Left by ClockworkSwordfish.

With all my goofy and improbable decks, I suddenly realized I did not have my own ‘Compilation’ build. I decided on the theme and promptly set to work.

It should be said I have not been keeping up with the game as of late. Serious burn out has set in, caused by incessant and unceasing expansions, special editions, alternate artworks, crossovers, tie-ins and all manner of cash grabs to the point where I feel like Wizards is pulling on my udders knowing full well only dust is coming out. Yet pull they do.

Anyway, my point is that I am somewhat unfamiliar with the more recent sets and that means I’ve likely missed a fair number of additions. Feel free to suggest any cards you think ought to be drafted (heh…puns), but do read the criteria before mentioning a card. Unacceptable entries will be dishonorably discharged, unless a compelling argument can change my mind.

Treatise and Articles of War

What is acceptable Show

Cards depicting a creature holding military rank, said rank reflected in the card name. “General John Smith”, “Admiral John Smith”, “John Smith, the [insert adjective] Captain” etc.

What is not acceptable Show

Cards that do not cite a military rank in the card name. Hamlet Captain is acceptable, Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait is not. Icatian Lieutenant is acceptable, Loyal Subordinate is not.

Cards that do reference a military rank in the card name, but which do not depict a creature holding military rank. General's Enforcer is not a rank.

Homonyms. The “Major” in Double Major is not referencing the military rank.

Fictional military ranks. Warchief is not a real world military rank.

Cards referencing military rank but which are not persons. General's Regalia is not a General.

Military adjacent terms or designations which are not military ranks. Icatian Infantry is not a rank. Soldier of the Pantheon is not a rank. Recruitment Officer is not a rank. Volunteer Reserves is not a rank.

Military ranks of antiquity or those of modern times which have been phased out*. Favored Hoplite and Crimson Fleet Commodore are outmoded.

*Special allowance has been made to include Chaplains, as Christendom’s long and bloody involvement instigating and fomenting war ought not be overlooked or forgotten.
