Greven, Predator Captain

Greven, Predator Captain

Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Human Warrior

Greven, Predator Captain gets +X/+0, where X is the amount of life you've lost this turn.

Whenever Greven attacks, you may sacrifice another creature. If you do, you draw cards equal to that creature's power and out lose life equal to that creature's toughness.

Malignus can be huge. Phyrexian Processor can be a repeatable source of huge Minion tokens. Yurlok's mana burn can enable Greven, Predator Captain's power pump and when it attacks can be lots card draw.

DrukenReaps on How do you create card-draw …

I'd be careful about having too much card draw that is reliant on your deck working. Having draw that just draws because it draws is often going to turn a game from not going well to being a little better.

In that vein I recommend Endless Atlas , Necropotence , Greed , Phyrexian Arena

To be more on theme the following work well Theater of Horrors , Stromkirk Occultist , Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion , Azra Oddsmaker , Anje's Ravager , Greven, Predator Captain

Take a look at a similar but more established commander for ideas too Kardur, Doomscourge

And there might be better options here than what I listed as I was mostly looking through my madness deck for some things to fit your needs Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant

I generally recommend around 15 card advantage total but you can go significantly lighter when your commander draws.

Mortlocke on New hubs to be added

Hello legendofa,

I propose a new hub to be added: Phyrexian. During Modern Horizons 2, 225 creatures were retconned into having the Phyrexian creature subtype to join Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider . Additionally, there were a smattering of Enchantments, Artifacts and etc that ether have the Phyrexian subtype or create creature tokens that do. Thanks to this retcon I now have a deck that has a Phyrexian tribal theme. For your reference, below is a full list of spells that were affected by WotC's Phyrexian errata.

Also Greven, Predator Captain might have a place here as both a large beater and a way to generate card advantage.

ClockworkSwordfish on Winota's Legends

If you want to really make Winota sing, the answer is tokens! She can only pull human cards out of your library, so the nonhuman versions of the same aren't pulling as much weight as they could. If you drop something like Dragon Fodder or Raise the Alarm , however, that means two creatures who get to dig for a big, powerful human when they attack! Cards like Spectral Procession and Lingering Souls just up the numbers even more from there. Sure, the tokens probably won't live through combat, but when they're replacing themselves with fatties like Cabal Patriarch , Greven, Predator Captain and Kaervek the Merciless ... well, you probably won't mind too much!

My Hatred for Greven, Predator Captain only makes him stronger...

I joke, of course. He's lots of fun.

Im currently playing Jeska & Kondo EDH. Its fun, though my mana could use a little work.

o so if voltron is on the table Greven, Predator Captain is the deadliest.
it can begin to remove players on turn 2
but it consistently removes players on turn 3
despite his lack of hex proof and indestructible he is the most competitive voltron commander you can get
down side is to build him properly can be expensive.
