Gonna start out by saying that I really like your choice on deck route. B/W Lifegain/leach has always been a favorite of mine. Alright, enough of that. Let's move onto the deck. Also, I just want you to know that everything I say is just a suggestion and can be ignored completely. This is your deck so I don't want you to feel obligated to listen to me.

Suggestions: Add

  • Retreat to Hagra - Basically let's you extort for one every time you drop a land. Get's kinda stupid if you have multiple on the field.
  • Harsh Sustenance - I know it's rotating soon, but in an ally deck like this, where the objective is to get out as many allies as possible, this card is awesome. Especially as a three drop in the late game, where you might upwards of 5 allies on the field.
  • Vampire Envoy + Zulaport Chainmage "Combo"- This one is kind of a janky combo, but it's a fun one. Vampire Envoy is a creature that gives you life for tapping it, and Zulaport Chainmage one is a creature that deals damage to opponents for tapping it and something else. since you'll have a ton of other creatures on the battlefield anyway, it's pretty much free damage.

Suggestions: Move

  • Zulaport Cutthroat- I'd suggest moving most of these to you sideboard. Unless you yourself are actively trying to kill off your own creatures for your own benefit, he's not an amazing creature to have with the strategy your going for. He'd seems better as something to sideboard in against a deck that's specifically targeting your creatures.
  • Gideon, Ally of Zendikar + Sorin, Grim Nemesis - I'd swap one for the other. Sorin is good, but Gideon let's you take advantage of rally triggers. So I'm not saying one is better than the other, I just feeling having at least one of each mainboard would help in two different ways.

You should take out Zulaport Chainmage and Munda's Vanguard, adding Captain's Claws would make Cloudshift expendable. I've always been a fan of being really efficient at what you are trying to do (spawn allies) vs preventing the opponent from doing one thing for a turn so maybe one of your prevent damage spells could be replaced. Looks good tho, I'm kinda anxious for my standard ally deck to rotate out so I can make it an epic modern ally deck. Looks good man.

Update 2: Going along cohort route took the Aeronaut's out and replaced with 2 Zulaport Chainmage. Mana curve getting a bit high now but with life gain in deck I should be able to sustain any early damage.

Nice to see another deck of this concept. If I make make some suggestions, I'd cut down some of the creatures in favor of some more removals. Namely -2 Zulaport Chainmage, -1 Serene Steward, -1 Lantern Scout for +2 Grasp of Darkness and +2 Ruinous Path. If Declaration in Stone can be acquired, I'd swap it for the Snares.

I've been tinkering with my version the last couple of months myself and I think I'm almost done (just planning to add 1 Westvale and maybe 1 Ayli). You can check it out for some ideas. Upvote for you.

I guess it depends on whether you want to focus on Agro or Combo.

Either way, you should know that Allied Reinforcements is strictly better than Unified Front in a two color deck. You shouldn't run any of the latter. I don't think that Makindi Aeronaut, Ondu War Cleric or Zulaport Chainmage are good enough for constructed. I'd drop them for Drana's Emissary and Cliffhaven Vampires. You might also want to bump up your land count to 23 or 24. Munda's Vanguard and Vampire Envoy are a little better but also questionable. Mainboard or Sideboard things like Declaration in Stone and Anguished Unmaking as removal for things that ruin your combo. Someone siding in Tainted Remedy and you not having Unmaking would be really damaging.

If you're doing Agro, I'd first suggest that you look in to playing White/Red equipment allies. If you still want to keep White/Black, you should drop combo pieces like Allied Reinforcements, Eerie Interlude and Retreat to Emeria. Replacing them with things like Captain's Claws, Stoneforge Masterwork and combat tricks and removal.

If you're going for a more Combo deck, you'd want to build around Kalastria Healer type drain. This means triggering it often. Cliffhaven Vampire is also a must here, as it doubles the rate at which you kill the opponent. You'd want to throw in anything that helps with EtB effects. Eldrazi Displacer (along with a change to the mana base, though Ally Encampment ironically produces colorless) and March from the Tomb are pretty good with that.

Also, consider running something like Defiant Bloodlord, Felidar Sovereign and/or Bloodbond Vampire as 1x. They can't win you the game on their own but if you can get one down while you're doing well they can finish it out for you.
