I moved the two Nissa, Voice of Zendikar to the side board in the place of Warping Wails. She was underperforming and when I had her and another 3 drop in hand I seemed to always play the other 3 drop. I replaced Warping Wail because I tend to use it in the first mode to exile and I have all kinds of other removal. With Nissa in the side board I now have the option to make my creatures bigger if needed. I added Sigarda because she's a flyer and can make use of my yard. My games tend to go long and I have the yard full this will allow me to make use of it. And I'll need to be mindful of what I'm exiling, so I can keep delirium when needed.

Dropped one Mangara to add a fourth Leonin Arbiter. Really want to land that turn two arbiter to have Ghost Quarter and Path to Exile be essentially free removal.

Final list?!

NestorCoelho, 9 years ago

Ok, after various tests on-line I have the Final list of the deck and got almost all of the cards, ready to play FNMs! Of course that I'm still open for suggestions and I may change some cards as I start to play and feel the difficults in local meta. Added a space for Tournament Reports on the description. Also, I fixed the sideboard, as I know much more from the new meta than I knew weeks ago.

After Some testing

sideboarding Ultimate Price to add more lands (still don't have any idea, so i add one Mountain and Swamp, then add Titan's Strength replacing To the Slaughter and move it to sideboard, since my friend says that my deck should be more aggro

1-1 plus a bye

Jay_Lucky13, 9 years ago

Round one was a bye for me so I got to see all the competition. I was feeling like I was going to be in very good place.

Match One: vs U/B Fairies 1-2 Game One: Bad beats to drawing too many lands. I started with three in hand (which is very risky) and ended drawing four more. My opponent was able to get two of my spells with two Inquisition of Kozilek and Bitterblossom on board in the early game while I couldn't draw spells to save my life. Game Two: I boarded in all of my Destructive Revelry, Molten Rain and Skullcrack. Another three land hand that led to me being able to put down a turn one Wild Nactl followed by a turn two Eidolon of the Great Revel. Since I was actually drawing spells this game. I won in a very quick manner. Game Three: I kept my sideboard the same. I started with three Boros Charmfoils in hand two lands and Rift Bolt and my Eidolon. My opponent turn one took Eidolon with Inquistion and things went bad from there. They apparently had the nut draw for all their card draw and counterspells while I would draw a spell every other turn. It was Sword of Light and Shadow that did me in with me not drawing a single Destructive Revelry. Bad beats.

Match Two: vs U/R Land Destruction 2-0 I'm not going into great detail with this one. This was like playing a janky U/R control deck that wanted to recast a land destruction spell with Goblin Dark-Dwellers. I played as if I was playing against control, drew plenty of lands (theme of the night I suppose) and took them out relatively easily.

I was happy how the deck performed. Hellspark Elemental was okay as it let me draw and pretend I drew a burn spell. I definetly felt as if I had the best deck of the night and just got beat by not drawing the spells I needed. I'm thinking of putting in Magma Jet as opposed to Searing Blaze as I think Srying 2 is just a lot of power in this deck.

Changed the deck, back to B/R, after some testing and comments, with no splash for white for Anguished Unmaking, as it appeared to be ineffective most of the time.

First round playtesting

karidyas, 9 years ago

Deck had a serious lack of removal so looking at a variety of different options (see maybeboard). Need to readjust the creature set I think. Harbinger of the Tides should fix that a bit while also filling a creature slot left by my readjustment, however it is quite expensive :/

Gudul Lurker was mediocre, I never used the flip ability so it was just a 1/1 unblockable for 1 which is apparently Bad - and when a friend tested it who did use the flip, it was too expensive to be useful (3 mana for a 2/2, +1 to flip it into an unblockable 2/2? not worth). Uninvitied Geist was fairly difficult to get going, as early game it was very unlikely they had no <2 toughness creatures, and with the aforementioned lack of removal anything that got on the board stayed there unless killed by a creature, so it usually ended up being a too-expensive 2/2 blocker.

Things I now realise:

1: Gaea's Revenge can't be targeted by Slip Through Space or Mirror Mockery (or Rogue's Passage from the maybeboard), so either the creature or the combo card to go with it needs some readjusting. Maybe I can find an equipment that gives unblockable. It does combo with a blue board-wipe very nicely though... Crush of Tentacles or Engulf the Shore maybe?

2: Briarbridge Patrol's ability only triggers in my endstep, so Gaea's Revenge's Haste is useless as a surprise tactic.

I think I need to establish some ender moves, as follows:

Briarbridge/Tamiyo's > Gaea's revenge, next turn blue boardwipe for 8 damage + board clear. Not great as requires either Gaea's or wipe to be in hand, pretty unlikely since they're both high-cost so would have less of them. Plus since either board clear option is just Return to Hand, there will be at least one blocker the turn after.

OR Outland Colossus + Chitinous Cloak/Rogue's Passage/Slip Through Space/?Tread Upon? for the Renoun trigger, next turn same again with 12 damage plus maybe extra from Confront the Unknown/Titanic Growth.

B seems far better than A after having written that out. Tread Upon+Uninvited Geist  Flip is nice for getting it to flip plus maybe removing a creature in the process. Now I just have to figure out what my early game plan is haha.

FNM 4-1

w1z4rdm4n, 9 years ago

Tweaked the mana base after playing at an FNM and doing well enough. I was missing the Hissing Quagmire and it only came up in my loss against a Naya deck with similar intentions to this one. I added a forest and reduced my swamp count. Just a 1 for 1 change. Also added the sideboard that I used and will probably move forward with for next weekend. I beat W/G Humans in 3 games, W/U Bounce Control, W/U Spirits, and some kind of Bring to Light Sultai Ally deck. Lost to the Naya deck in 3 games that were all very close. I lost game 3 to the DenPro/Pulse of Murasa shenanigans and a finish with Dromoka. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Wilds of Zendikar

Troyjanman, 9 years ago

This is my standard red/green landfall deck. Red is there for removal so you can ramp and build your board undisturbed. Green is obviously ramp and there is a lot of search to prevent missing land drops.
