legendofa That's very fair, and it's not like I'm really against the tried and true commander playstyle, I just think that proactive strategies are so powerful and popular that most EDH games have large gaps in the game where one person is having fun and the rest are just there, and there could be a game of four players constantly going back and forth and making deals and things.

Demonic Consultation into Thassa's Oracle is a good example because, while I think it's fine in cEDH, at anything casual it's kind of saying, everything you 3 players did so far really doesn't matter if someone didn't draw Force of Will I do really think that the formats should be split into commander and cEDH, just because being able to solitaire to a win should maybe not be casual, and honestly, splitting cEDH would probably be better for competitive too so they could get a real banlist.

And just to be clear, I'm not salty or anything : ) The only thing that actually makes me salty in EDH is people on their phones for the first turns, but I guess people gonna do. I really just think that if they are going to print cards to make one play style very strong, there may eventually need to be some kind of fan made format for people to play around with other builds. Maybe something as simple as, no artifacts that tap for mana, format. No fast mana, no rocks to fix, no treasures, I think it could shake out to be a shockingly different.

DoctorMunchiesPHD Crypt Sliver winds up being more mana efficient in board states without Training Grounds. Love Brood Sliver always have always will. Frenetic Sliver is more a last resort removal protection and more often then not is a blue card to pitch for Force of Will or used to get Dormant Sliver off the board if I need to attack to finish someone. Don't really need mana reduction from Herald's Horn and it winds up not discounting a number of important Slivers in the deck. I'm not the biggest fan of the tutors that put the card on the top of the deck and not in hand, Worldly Tutor was the closest to making the deck among your suggestions but I chose Vampiric Tutor over it, due to the greater versatility and not having to reveal the card.

So, about traps. I actually made a cycle in my free time, for each colour, that were traps but also kinda like Force of Will in their casting, but hopefully more fair. I like the trap ideas for the rangers tho. I’ll post them later, probably. I like the idea of marking for rangers, but I’ve seen kind of a pattern in some of the leviathan cards, which is “whenever you deal 5 or more damage”. Did we get to a decision on hideout tokens for the rogues? On merging the rogues and rangers, we’d have to choose maybe two or three mechanics out of: marking, hideouts, recursion, survival, artifacts and traps. Given that snow and most of the things we are talking about are mainly new mechanics (with the exception of artifacts, recursion and big creatures) so maybe more like 30 new cards for each deck would be more likely. As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been more invested in matzoth than I have in this forum for the past year or so, so I’d really Like to see it prosper and maybe print the decks. I vote for merging the rogues and rangers, personally, and the mechanics being artifacts (hideouts as kinda part of that), marking and traps. I’ll post a couple cards later. The challenge is still to create a 30 foot eel leviathan.

Love this list - reminds me of the second commander deck I ever built! Got inspiration from multiple FNM's back when I played standard around the time of RTR & Theros when mono blue devotion was popular.

What about High Tide to facilitate an insanely productive turn mid-late game and Force of Will given the ease you'll have casting it to counter a problematic response an opponent may throw out? Also, Master of Waves would be a solid add given how much devotion is likely to be present on your board. Mox Amber may be valuable here, too.

Just a few thoughts, and glad to see someone else had something very similar in mind when it came to constructing a mono blue Thassa commander deck.

I think in Legacy mono-Blue you really should consider running x4 Force of Will if you're trying to be competitive, if you're going for a more casual sort of deck then you probably don't need to worry about Force. Force is really useful to protect yourself from opponent's combos (and other unfair Magic stuff), is it a budget issue? I run budget brews in Legacy, so my Rack deck with only 2 Lilianas feels your pain if so!

I think if you're playing x4 Aether Vial in Blue you probably need to have some card draw to support it? I'm not sure if it's within your budget, but The One Ring is pretty decent card draw, especially if you add in Force. You could also add x1 or x2 High Tide if you add more draw.

It's technically a Merfolk, any reason you don't run any copies of Svyelun of Sea and Sky in here? It offers card draw and Ward, both are useful. I think it just got reprinted, so it's pretty cheap atm.

I'm not very familiar with Legacy Merfolk, but I hope some of these ideas help! Ask away if you have any questions.

Sadly, cEDH is not my scene. From what little I know, Concentrate is not good for cEDH given you're paying 4 mana to draw 3 cards when your commander already draws cards at instant speed rather than sorcery speed.

Ancient Tomb > Temple of false

Fierce Guardianship/Force of Will/Misdirection - Free counterspell

Mana Crypt/Jeweled Lotus - Ramp

What is the purpose of Perpetual Timepiece?

Counterspell, Arcane Denial, Mana Drain > Desertion

Mind Stone > Chromatic lantern. Lantern's benefit is for multi-color decks, not mono. Coalition Relic also fits the 3cmc slot and is colored mana if you really want something similar yet better. But mindstone comes down more quickly and can be draw when you don't need it so it usually sees more play

Your avg cmc is relatively high for cEDH. Might want to bring it closer to 3.20. I can give you ideas for more cuts should you wish.

erook comment here on your deck, not on my profile.

I disagree with your assessment of Chain of Vapor. It is a better Boomerang. It's a 2 for 1. They can't hit your lands and you can create situations where they don't get a real choice.

GeminiSpartanX There are many ways for Slivers to go infinite in mana, creatures or damage. I will start by listing 3 of the most common ones you will generally see to get you started. The rest I will leave for you to discover through play.

  1. Sliver Queen+Mana Echoes: The classic, will generate infinite mana and Sliver tokens, combine with a haste sliver for an infinite attack or use Lavabelly Sliver for infinite target damage and life.

  2. Basal Sliver+Sliver Queen+Lavabelly Sliver: Infinite target damage and life gain.

  3. Intruder Alarm+The First Sliver: Not truly an infinite combo on it's own but can be with the right setup or hit's off cascade triggers. Intruder Alarm combos with a ham sandwich so not hard to make infinite with mana/haste slivers and Hibernation Sliver and Darkheart Sliver.

Bonus: The most important cards to consider for combos. Sliver Queen, Basal Sliver, Lavabelly Sliver, Hibernation Sliver, The First Sliver, Gemhide Sliver, Manaweft Sliver, Heart Sliver, Cloudshredder Sliver, Firewake Sliver, Darkheart Sliver, Cautery Sliver, Sliver Overlord, Homing Sliver, Mana Echoes, Intruder Alarm, Faces of the Past.

Support Cards: The most important cards to protect your combos. Crystalline Sliver, Root Sliver, Sliver Hivelord, Quick Sliver, Ward Sliver, Force of Will, Patriarch's Bidding.
