Bring the Company!

Abzan Coco/Chord combo deck with a couple combos. It can be transformed and played like a midrange deck if needed, or an aggro deck if that's what's necessary. I've been tinkering with it for months now, and it's definitely my favorite deck archetype. Let's dig in shall we?

The Combos

Cheat the Pieces Onto the Battlefield

  • Collected Company and Chord of Calling are two amazing cards. They allow you to search for pieces, or fetch for pieces at instant speed. The bread and butter of the deck. Chord of Calling is also helpful when you sideboard/change up into a midrange strategy, to tutor for the perfect creature for any situation.

Dorks

Toolbox

This is the fun part of the deck. With a few one of cards main deck, and the sideboard you can easily transform the deck/strategy into a more grindy, go wide midrange deck. So versatile, and I love it.

  • Voice of Resurgence has great synergy with Viscera Seer and Renegade Rallier. Blow up the Voice.. get a big dude.. play Rallier.. get your Voice back. Also, Voice helps against midrange-y decks, and any control decks you may face.

  • Eternal Witness is obvious. The recurrence of your Collected Company and Chord of Calling casts gets you more chances to play the slot machine, plus you can always get pieces that were dealt with back from your graveyard. There is nothing like hitting a Witness with your Collected Company cast because it comes right back to your hand!

  • Renegade Rallier is a nice new card that I was excited to test since I saw it spoiled. With fetch lands, and a sac outlet, you can be sure to hit revolt to get the value this card creates. Get back a combo piece, a sacrificed Voice of Resurgence or the Spellskite that you've already used for protection. You can even get back a fetch land with Tireless Tracker on the BF (or if you're missing land drops) and get some card advantage with your value meal!

  • Scavenging Ooze is a great card to land late game when you can take full advantage of his ability.

  • Eternal Witness for all the value. Great hit off of Collected Company allowing you to recycle your Company casts!

  • Qasali Pridemage can take care of the many main deck artifacts/enchantments that haunt our game 1 dreams.

  • Spellskite for combo protection.

The Nuts

The Hand: Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise, Windswept Heath, Windswept Heath, Viscera Seer, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit/Melira, Sylvok Outcast, and Chord of Calling/Murderous Redcap/Kitchen Finks.

This is the perfect hand and turn sequence for this deck. (Barring opponent interaction, and you need to draw a land on one of your first 2 turns)

Obviously, this would be the nuts, but if you can't land it that way, the first two turns are still amazing if you can cast a Collected Company turn 4 as well.

Sideboard Plans

You should build your sideboard to match up with your current meta, but always try to keep it creature heavy, because the deck is based on a toolbox of amazing creatures with ETB triggers.

  • Path to Exile against Jund, Junk or Eldrazi is good. Replace your mana dorks (since they'll just be blowing them up anyways).

  • Tireless Tracker can be brought in for grindy match ups where the value and card draw is needed.

  • Aven Mindcensor can tax your opponents mana base if they try to fetch.. it aids in slowing down Tron a LITTLE bit if they try to crack a map, and it hurts Valakut and Titan shift decks.

  • Burrenton Forge-Tender is great in burn match ups.

  • Abrupt Decay is good in match ups against junk/jund and their silly Lili's. It can also be an effective removal spell of most creatures in the format.

  • Orzhov Pontiff deals with mana dorks, tokens, or a few different tribal decks with a few x/1 creatures. It can also be used for combat tricks with Chord of Calling or buff your party pre combat.

  • Kataki, War's Wage is good at dealing with affinity, and can be helpful against tron.

  • Eidolon of Rhetoric can slow down combo decks, and tax your opponents. In an aggressive meta, it could really help to land this.

  • Anafenza, the Foremost for some graveyard hate, and another way to grind out opponents.

  • Tidehollow Sculler is a fun little card that can help pick apart your opponents hands, and be hit off of Collected Company.

  • Phyrexian Revoker helps in a variety of match ups. It can shut off Tron's walkers or the terrifying Walking Ballista. It can shut off mana accelerants in Ad Naus, and it can shut off a number of activated abilities on cards sewn throughout the tier decks.

  • Tireless Tracker for grindy match ups for help with the beat down plan. Plus, you get some card draw/value.

There are all kinds of 3 or less drop creatures in Abzan that would be great choices for the side board and/or the main board depending on what you want to do. Like I said it's all about preference.

Go get em tigers! Remember to +1 if you like the deck, and feedback/suggestions are always appreciated!

With so much affinity around, and tons of nobles pumping with exalted, I feel like Orzhov Pontiff warrants a main board. I went down to 2 Renegade Rallier. The card is AMAZING, but sometimes I'd have it in my hand and it was basically a dead card.

I moved Spellskite to the side in favor of Tireless Tracker. I had him out of the deck completely, and then tried him in the sideboard and I just felt like I missed him a lot of the time. Spellskite game 1 usually doesn't help me too much either, since most decks don't focus on removal, and the ones that do have SO MUCH that it almost doesn't matter.
