Enchantment (1)

Planeswalker (1)

Spirits. Coco into all your favorite dead men and out tempo your opponent. Get value out of your Spirits when they ETB, plus you have the body on the field. Collected Company nets you 2 bodies for ultimate value.

Let's Get to the Deck

I've always wanted a Spirit Tribal deck that could potentially pack some punch, and maybe even be competitive. As new sets come out, they've given us a couple more tools, and I think our favorite dead men are relevant again!

Creatures

  • Spell Queller is the cream of the crop next to your Captains in a spirit build. A 2/3 flyer with flash is already pretty good, but pair that with it's ETB ability.. and you have yourself one amazing card. A counter spell on a body equates to the ultimate tempo advantage. Want more advantage and value? Collected Company into this bad boy! Counter spell/Tempo adv + a body + another spirit! NOTE: It technically doesn't "counter" the spell, it exiles it so it gets around anything like Cavern of Souls or Abrubt Decay for example.

  • Rattlechains Is a small body with lots of important text. He is a good way to protect creatures that don't already have hexproof. It also comes with a neat little ability that gives all your spirits flash. The ultimate trickster! Probably my favorite turn 2 play in most match ups. Unlocking the flash ability is key. And late game, it can essentially counter a removal spell.

  • Mausoleum Wanderer for early game pressure and potential counters to slow down opponents using cheap instants/sorceries early. Not to mention late game the pump ability helps get through extra damage, and with Rattlechains making most of the deck interact instantly, you can surprise an opponent who thinks they have enough to pay for when it's one number, but not when you flash in and pump it up!

  • Selfless Spirit is very selfless indeed. Sacrificing himself to protect against board wipes and the like. Plus he can help out in situations where you're pressured to block ineffectively.

  • Drogskol Captain because every tribe needs a lord! AND more protection. Seeing a theme yet? With Rattlechains on the field, your Cap'n has flash, and can essentially counter removal.

  • Supreme Phantom is one of our newest tools coming from M19. A 2 mana Lord to pump up your crew, and it comes with a 1/3 body with flying.

  • Phantasmal Image is a great compliment to any good board state you may have. Copying a Drogskol Captain is one of the best moves. Double Cap is a fun time. Don't forget, you can copy any creatures your opponent may have as well!

  • Noble Hierarch for the ramp and the exalted trigger for solo attackers.

Spells and the Like

  • Path to Exile is the removal of choice main board.

  • Collected Company because who doesn't love 2 for 1 value for ? I splashed green and went for this very card. It's much too powerful to not include in a creature heavy deck. Instant speed means instant shenanigans!

after 80 games with the deck I have a 65.82% win rate, and the win rate in matches against T1/T2 decks is 68.5%. I think I've found the composition I'm comfortable with for now!
