Taniwha is a unique commander that appears horrible at first glance, but can wreak havoc to a board when played correctly. This creature's unique phasing / land phasing combination results in either having Taniwha in play or having your lands in play, but not both simultaneously. This deck aims to hit players' resources and create a board state where their lands just can't stick around on the board. There are other non-land board wipes to play when Taniwha is phased out. Basically, when Taniwha is phased out, play mass removal to clear the board. When the lands are phased out, play mass land removal to clear the board.

It's important to know when to play spells on turns when lands are getting phased out. Essentially, those turns look like this: 1. Your phased out Taniwha phases in 2. Untap your lands 3. Taniwha's ability triggers that will phase out all of your lands 4. In response to Taniwha's trigger, tap your lands for mana 5. After the lands phase out, but before drawing your card for the turn, use the mana from the lands that just phased out in order to play instant speed spells
