Looks pretty good. I think you should definitely find room for Vizkopa Guildmage . You can activate her second ability multiple times (even in response to the first lifegain trigger), resulting in huge drains for every life gained during the turn!

You might like these too: Storage Matrix , Uba Mask , Angel's Trumpet , Regna, the Redeemer , Sunbond , Cradle of Vitality , Slaughter , Dingus Staff , Ethereal Absolution , Vona, Butcher of Magan , Angelic Accord , Resplendent Angel , Revival, Syphon Mind

Don't ask what to remove for any of this... just some good synergies.

Captivating Crew and Puppeteer Clique can steal and effectively remove creatures paired with Greven. Doom Whisperer grows Greven while allowing you to dig and ditch if you will, while Plunge into Darkness can find that game ending card at the right moment. Bond of Agony , Killing Wave , and Nightmare Lash all allow for payment of life with benefits. Slaughter while limited it is still relevant and repeatable removal. And lastly Withering Boon because why not.

And should of first reserved my spot on the Deck Help page... oh well, enjoy this one free. +1

Good point with Slaughter . I somehow missed the synergy...

Regarding Vraska's Contempt , it is always fun to throw it against an Avacyn, Angel of Hope .

Thanks for the suggestions B0effe

Reliquary Tower for Swamp looks like a easy update and will give me 2 anti discarding effects in case I don't get Venser's Journal out. I'm trying to keep the Black mana symbols since those count toward a couple of my drain effects Soul Burn , Consume Spirit , Drain Life .

I might consider swapping Thought Vessel in for Charcoal Diamond . Seems like a fair trade off, especially if I look to add Ad Nauseam .

Ad Nauseam , Cabal Coffers look like easy additions. Why so expensive Coffers???

I absolutely love the buyback of Slaughter in this deck so it's staying in. I am considering the swap of Go for the Throat for Vraska's Contempt though. I won't get to reanimate the creature but sometime it's better to permanently remove a problem.

Looks like fun! I would suggest to use Reliquary Tower and maybe even Thought Vessel , since you run some draw abilities, which can be devastating for your opponents if you don't have to discard down to a maximum handsize, e.g. with Necropotence or Necrologia .

In this regard, I would also suggest to use Ad Nauseam because (1) besides Necropotence it is as black as a black card can be, and (2) it serves well with your lifegain.

Further, although I fully get the idea of using lifegain to ensure your lifetotal while using, e.g., Erebos' draw ability, you may consider to run Platinum Angel . If you have angel on the battlefield and play Ad Nauseam at the end of opponent's turn, you may put your entire library into your hand. On your turn, you play Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond , gain +1 life = win the game.

I would also consider to use Vraska's Contempt over Slaughter and to use Murderous Cut over Go for the Throat .

Finally, that Cabal Coffers should most definitely be added to the deck, at least instead of Cabal Stronghold , as Coffers is simply just endlessly better.

I’ve always wanted to build a straight Orzhov deck but have just never been able to pick a commander or commit to it. But Kambal seems dope!

Some suggestions at first glance (not sure if this is the direction you want to go):

Axis of Mortality is hugely political and good be great in this deck. At 6 mana, it seems worth it to me for what it can do to change game dynamic plus give you some extra leverage against certain players.

Tree of Perdition is in the same vein as Axis.

Reverse the Sands , I’ve lost to this... I had more life than my opponent and he pulled this stunt as a trick and killed me when I thought I had him cornered. Super cool.

Magus of the Mirror A little different as that you most likely will never want to swap with an opponent since the goal here is for you to gain life, but you could always let your opponent have a feeling of false security and then swap at a pivotal moment.

And last but not least Soul Conduit same as magus

Other ideas since you should have lots of life:

Bolas's Citadel AMAZING VALUE Slaughter Soul Channeling Circle of Despair Temporal Extortion . This just seems like tons of fun to try and corner an opponent but also attempting to take an extra turn. I’d run it!

No Slaughter? That's like the best card for Toshiro, imo. Just a repeatable source of spell recursion, if you don't mind paying the life.

Philigan87: Thank you! I feel vindicated to know that some of the old cards impress you; you clearly know the modern game very well, and I think that if you like a card, it says something!

For Omnath (and related threats), I'm planning to run Circle of Protection: Red, Slaughter, and Deathgrip. The catch is that they're all very expensive to use; I can see the point of Armament of Nyx, if you don't expect too many Wraths or have a good way to get cards back from the graveyard.

Spectra Ward: I like the abilities but not the casting cost. I'd definitely prefer Flickering Ward, especially since it's a card-drawing engine with Enchantresses in play.

Silent Sentinel: use Monk Idealist.

Agreed that Broken Fall is unnecessary with Karador. It gives you some more draw with Enchantresses, but you don't need that if you're making efficient use of your graveyard.

Definitely drop the Boon Satyr. What do you think of Brilliant Halo or Fallen Ideal in his role?

I agree that Dueling Grounds isn't the best card here; it's one of those cards that either you build the whole deck around, or you don't use at all...

Some other cards I think you'll find interesting:

  • Light of Day is a one-card win condition against most Zombie decks.
  • Allay. (Note, Shred Memory can tutor into it.) I think Allay has a place in almost any deck, but it's something to worry about once people who splash white discover it. As answers to it, there are three white counterspells in Future Sight (there's a "List of Color Pie Bends/Breaks" that mentions them) -- and there's Null Brooch, from Exodus, the same set as Allay itself.
  • Sacred Mesa. At first I was stubbornly running it because I liked the flavor; but I'm starting to think that it's a really strong card. Look at Black Market + Sacred Mesa + Twilight Drover , especially!
  • For mana ramp: Carpet of Flowers and Priest of Titania. Priest of Titania is one of those cards that breaks the game completely if she sticks around -- and I think she's on-theme for this deck, too! (Imagine getting away with Priest of Titania + Soul Foundry .)
