What are some cards you think aren't talked about nearly enough?

I never hear anything about Skatewing Spy. It probably just isn't that good, but when I started out I built a really good (In my opinion) deck around him. So what cards are you a fan of, but no one talks about in the grand scheme of things?

My all time favorite control card is Capsize. For me, its in the top 10 all time best blue cards ever printed. It wins games, it breaks deadlocks on tables. It increases a deck's inevitability and it scales up the longer a game goes. Its an auto-include for me that I never see in other decklists, never talked about, never played.

MagicMarc: Buyback is just a good mechanic all-around. I own one buyback card, depicting an elf punching a cat, but I don't remember what it's called.

It should be called "Elf Punching A Cat". Hilarious!

Is it Slaughter?

Cant believe I forgot about that card! I think I had a competitive deck that ran those. Basically Mono Green Stomp deck with some extra stuff.

Reconnaissance easily tops my list. Ignore that reminder text and go wild...

I find that Reconnaissance is very underrated and not even viewed as a threat by many players. Can be very oppressive in the right hands.

From a competitive modern perspective, i’m surprised the following cards don’t get more love/hype:

For me, it’s Inferno of the Star Mounts. Even if it isn’t necessarily super good, it’s just an interesting card.

A few examples of breaking Reconnaissance:

In Edgar Markov with vigilance and Captivating Vampire you can attack with literally everything, steal a creature for every 5 vamps you tap (this doesn't remove them from combat). You then untap to avoid any unfavorable blocks, let the rest of combat damage happen, then untap everything while it's still considered 'attacking'. Bam, all your dudes are untapped and ready to block/deter attacks or steal more stuff while turning your aggro up to 11.

First/Double Strike are dumb with this card. With Stromkirk Captain out (again in Edgar Markov), you can attack with everyone, untap only to avoid first/double strike, deal all your damage in the first strike phase, then immediately untap everyone before regular combat damage is dealt to make combat entirely one-sided.

I think that Mayhem Devil is gaining more traction as a card that needs to be responded to. It hoses so many deck strategies and can really pile up damage in commander.

I was already building a commander deck for Grist, the Hunger Tide and will see how it works out.
