Love the list! Excellent elaboration, dynamic gameplan, easy +1.

I would highly recommend an Overlord of the Balemurk. It has been creeping into more of my lists and always feels fantastic.

Spelunking is one that I deliberate whenever I consider its inclusion, but its simply far more explosive than its cost suggests. It at least replaces itself and at most synergizes wildly with cards you are already playing.

I see that Ripples of Undeath. You know its potential. If you're contentedly casting Cemetery Tampering, you'll like this one.

Welp, that's all from me! Happy casting!

If you really want to push your playgroup’s patience, Dimir Supercontrol is the one. It’s the most consistent at shutting things down—counters, removal, and plenty of ways to slow the whole table to a crawl. The other two decks can be strong, but they’re not nearly as reliably frustrating as full-on Dimir control.

It's actually quite simple, Balaam__. You're playing a Draw - go deck meant to win the game by way of phase changes. If you over draw the deck without hitting the win condition you find in the second sun archetype cards, which both add a second upkeep phase and that includes the extra draw, you can easily hit that necessary card amount. you use something like Thassa's Oracle. For when you can't outpace burn tactics, the Grimoire and the Venser's Journal both provide some utility. But, I digress- the intent is to use draw spells and untap mechanics in tow with High Tide to generate an explosive amount of mana. The rearranging of the turn structure so that hit another upkeep phase is for Triskaidekaphile. Hope that helps.

This should be called Stack Attack because you aren’t battling the opponent, you’re at war with the convoluted rule structure of the game itself. Too highbrow for this simple minded clod; me prefer cheat out big creature for much power.

Oh, head to head, Tyrite Sanctum wins all the way. It provides buff at a cheaper cost, comes into play untapped guaranteed, and has an option to provide protection. It can also target your opponent’s creatures for some political gains.

However, if you put Abandoned Air Temple head to head to a Plains, it’s practically a better Plains since it adds for white as long as you look past it coming into play tapped sometimes.

So why not run both? :)

Glad I could be of assistance. Your commander costs 6 and is expensive to recast, even with coffers + artifact ramp. If you don't mind losing a draw, Volrath's Stronghold can be a backup plan (and slightly helpful against grave hate) for those late games where he inevitably costs too much.

Loving the fetchland synergy with rings. Not to mention with urborg out, u can keep them "as swamps" and use them for top deck manipulation (with top).

Like some of these a lot, kind of took out some of the more dead "combos" that were filler.

Also Cabal Stronghold was always kind of meh to me, so making me go back and look at it made me look at my mana base all around and change it up. It's probably better now.

Tyrite Sanctum looks better over Abandoned Air Temple. This deck doesn't go wide enough for mass +1/+1 counter boosts.

clayperce Oh I get the infinite combo thing. I won't lie I'm a combo player so I find a LOT of accidental infinites. I didn't even realize Anointed/Spawning Pit combo, so I appreciate that lol.

My goal in games is, if we say "no infinite combos" to avoid it. If I can make infinite creatures but we don't want infinite I cap it at 10. Still, that's only good if you realize your deck goes infinite haha!

And honestly I build A LOT around Mobilize in my shell. In fact the original deck title was "Mardu: Roll Out!" because I built it around Mobilize. Then I added aristocrats when I realized it was less effort than trying to keep tokens from dying automatically.

And honestly I'd keep Pitiless Plunderer if it's that good. Unless two things are equally good for your board, go with whatever fits best!

And ultimately don't be afraid to add in weird or interesting cards you personally like. It's why my Necropotence is white border. If you look, my physically completed decks have at least 1 white bordered card. This started because in my Gisa and Geralf deck, my only option for an affordable copy of Zombie Master at the time was white border. I kept that tradition up and in Lathril I have Concordant Crossroads in white border, and Necropotence in Zurgo as white border. For you, try to add a little something of your own in here. That's when the deck becomes yours! Or find something your friend likes. That's the best advice I can give honestly, because it makes the games fun. I think my Endrek Sahr will use a white border Bolas's Citadel, for example.

If you need anymore help don't hesitate to reach out! I don't check TappedOut super often but I'll get to you ASAP!

You do not have enough basics to warrant cabal stronghold. Best case scenario: Assuming you get 4 basic swamps + stronghold in a row, you break even. Maybe you get it late game for a tiny boost but it is negligible. You can get more value out of another utility land or a basic swamp.

Cloud Key/Semblance Anvil = Ramp

Mystic Forge = Helps more than 1/4th of your deck easily.

Ugin, the Ineffable - Helpful to get rid of rest in peace/other artifact hate. He is a bit pricey for CMC but worth potentially worth considering.

Mystic forge + artifact cost reducer (like above cards) + sensei's top = draw your entire deck

Forsaken Monument + basalt =

Rings of Brighthearth + basalt + 2 mana = = + Sensei's Divining Top = Draw your entire deck

Metalworker + voltaic key + rings =

Everflowing Chalice + voltaic + rings =

ZoomZoom Great feedback, thanks!

Dragonsoul Knight was kind of a pet card choice. It's a big mana investment, and it definitely eats removal all the time, but that one time in a hundred that it works, it really works. I'm not sure what to switch it out for, so if you have a suggestion for something more reliable, let me know.

The sideboard was for a specific meta in my group, and it's completely out of date. Moment's Peace went in mostly as Goblin deterrent, buying a couple of free turns in the midgame. Along the same lines, Innocent Blood was for a low-creature Bogles-style deck. Weather the Storm's better than Rest for the Weary, but that's what I had on hand at the time.

Lightning Bolt vs. Cast Down, I would have to tweak the mana base for, but definitely an option worth trying. I'm a little hesitant to cut 1-mana cards for 2-mana cards, but I'll see how it goes.

Thraben Charm and Cast into the Fire will find a home somewhere in here.

ZoomZoom on Northwest Passage: Fire From Ice

Nice to see another Snow Domain list :) the control aspects look neat, though I wonder if Cast Down would be better over Lightning Bolt.

I think that getting to hit with Dragonsoul Knight is awesome! Though it takes 5 mana to make it a 7/5, and it is really vulnerable to removal.

Some thoughts on the sideboard:

  • Was Hydroblast a deliberate decision vs mono-red? Otherwise I would think that Pyroblast might be a better choice since its the best counter to those pesky blue spells and permanents.
  • Innocent Blood is cool! Though it's not easy if you need to get rid of a particular creature when the opponent has 2+ creatures
  • I'm curious on your thoughts for Rest for the Weary vs Weather the Storm. Rest's floor is 4, and caps at 8, whereas Weather's floor is 6 (since you'll always cast it when at least one spell was cast before it) and its ceiling is storm.
  • Moment's Peace *list* is neat -- how often does it get you through to the mid-lat game?

The deck should probably run Thraben Charm -- it's graveyard hate with some versatility. Possibly also some exile-based artifact hate like Cast into the Fire (to hit the MH2 indestructible artifact lands).

legendofa the list is cool! I will post some feedback on the deck shortly :)

Regarding Writhing Chrysalis -- honestly, after the games I played last week (I hope to have the results up this week), I'm not sure that it's the right fit for the deck. It can't be cost reduced, I completely blanked on the fact that blinking it won't create the Eldrazi Spawn tokens, and I don't think its reliable enough to help me make it to the late game consistently. I will have to see if I can find a suitable replacement.

Thinking more about the Token doublers ... I could add them and comfortably maintain the deck's no-combo state if I dropped Pitiless Plunder. Plunder has been REALLY good so far, so I'm loath to cut it, but the doublers might be even better. I think it's at least worth taking some time to test.

Also wanted to mention that I over-generalized above. Stridehangar Automaton is a 3-card combo with Pitiless Plunderer and any Free Sac, but Forsaken Miner needs something like Goblin Bombardment for its trigger.

Thank you for all the kind words too ... but honestly, it was your earlier comment that set me on this path, so thank YOU!!!

Yeah, Martial Coup is definitely better for this deck. I think I must have been comparing it to other Mass Disruption options when I cut it, rather than comparing it to other Go Wide options ... derp!

Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon has been fine so far, but thanks much for the thought; I'll definitely keep an eye on her. FWIW, Mardu Siegebreaker is my current "Hmmmmmm ..." card, mostly becuase it's so inconsistent ... amazing with something like Mirkwood Bats on the board, but super-frustrating with a board full of Legendaries and Tokens!

The token doublers are GREAT, but I'm very consciously avoiding them in this deck, just because I hate accidental infinite combos (in case it's not obvious, Exalted Sunborn or Anointed Procession go infinte with Spawning Pit and Pitiless Plunder on the board). I mean, I'm absolutely happy to run infinite combos, but I just hate it when they happen accidentally in a lower-Bracket deck ... if I'm doing combos, I'm going all-in! :-)
Similarly, I'm not running Luminous Broodmoth (2-card combo with any Free Sac), Restoration Angel (2-card combo with Mardu Siegebreaker), Stridehangar Automaton or Forsaken Miner (3-card combos with Pitiless Plunderer and any Free Sac), or Aggravated Assault (3-card combo with Mardu Siegebreaker and Professional Face-Breaker).
All that said, I've REALLY been enjoying working on this deck though for my friend, so I think I'm almost certainly going to try building this as an all-in combo deck (at a higher Bracket and with a higher budget) for myself.

Fanatical Devotion is a fantastic card and I generally try to run both. But if I can only find room for one, it's almost always Reconnaissance. Partly because it always fits nicely on curve (especially with a 3-mana Commander), but mostly because I find the pseudo-Vigilance to be so useful in multi-player.

Great catch on Ashnod's Altar; I'm not sure why I trimmed it. It maybe combo'd with some card that's no longer there? Or was maybe a purely accidental cut? Either way, you'll see it back in the deck soon(tm)!

Good call on Thunder of Unity ... I'll force it into some test games (I seriously can't recall ever having cast it, lol) and form an opinion.

Thanks again for all the thoughtful and kind comments! And good luck (and good skill!) on your remaining finals!

Cheers!

Hmmm. There are more than a dozen other legendary Dragons in this build, which would make good use of Fang's attack trigger, even though it is just a modest four points of extra damage without any additional modifiers. HOWEVER, you hit the nail squarely on the head with the potential of bringing Scion back to the battlefield through an activation of Fang in response to removal. I like it. I like it A LOT!

Thank you for all the kind words! Also, thank you for reminding me of Enduring Courage! I had a bunch of Haste enablers in an early version of the deck, and at 4 mana, he was one of the first to go. But he'd be a great target for Mardu Siegebreaker, and I'm excited to give him another look. Especially since the friend I'm building this deck for is a dog person! :-)

clayperce on Bears (The 2/2 Kind)

Lol ... yeah, I almost always tag Path to Exile as both Targeted Removal and Ramp in a Token deck. It never feels great to use it on my own Creature, but sometimes it's just exactly what we need :-)
Settle the Wreckage is similar ... not saying I'd want it in this deck, just that it can be a REALLY good Ramp spell sometimes! :-D

The biggest real suggestion in my version of the deck is probably the mana base. Some of the pieces may be too spendy, but the more I think about it the more I wonder if smoother mana might be the "missing something" you were looking for ...

Cheers!
