Dross Harvester

Creature — Horror

Protection from white ((Remember the acronym debt.) This can't be damaged, enchanted, equipped, blocked or targeted by anything white. Anything white attached to this immediately falls off.)

At the end of your turn, you lose 4 life.

Whenever a creature dies, you gain 2 life. (Is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, tokens are put into the graveyard before they cease to exist.)

Nice deck! Gave me plenty of ideas for my own (Teysa Karlov Death Doubling). Some that I think could help in here on a budget are: Reassembling Skeleton, Dross Harvester, Falkenrath Noble, and Sengir, the Dark Baron.

If you wanted to bust your budget a bit, Elenda, the Dusk Rose is an absolute game-changer for me.

Don't forget that you have a second infinite-mana combo here with Endless Cockroaches and Phyrexian Altar. Cast Cockroaches with Endrek on the battlefield; sacrifice the Thrulls and the Cockroaches for 4 black mana; recast Cockroaches for a net gain of B every time.

Suggestions:

  • You're really light on lands. I have to think that you mulligan a ton or struggle to hit the 5 mana you need for Endrek. I'd highly recommend at least three to four more lands, and definitely more mana rocks to ensure that Endrek hits the battlefield fast enough for your combos to kick in.

  • You really want Blasting Station in this deck. When Endrek dumps a handful of Thrulls on the board, each one will create a trigger for the Station's untap ability. Then you respond to each individual trigger by sacrificing a Thrull. This combo turns every batch of Thrulls into a batch of damage, and if you have one of your Phyrexian Altar loops going, it becomes a table-killing combo of infinite damage.

  • You can do way better than Defiant Salvager and Ravenous Harpy. Tar Fiend can devour all the Thrulls it creates in one swoop, becoming a 16/16 and emptying an opponent's hand. Priest of Forgotten Gods is a value machine. Cards like Plaguecrafter and Fleshbag Marauder come down early, help control the board, and are really fun to recur. (Fleshbag Marauder even helps make your Gravecrawler more consistent.)

  • Dross Harvester can basically ensure that you can't be killed by anything except decking or commander damage.

  • Kuon, Ogre Ascendant is almost strictly better than Magus of the Abyss in this deck. Flipping Kuon into his enchantment form is child's play for Endrek, and as an enchantment, Kuon is far less vulnerable than a 0/3 creature that kills itself if you play it into an empty board.

If you're looking for other ideas, I have my own Endrek deck that does pretty similar things to yours: The Bloodthirsty Endrek Sahr

Hmm... the only clear cuts I would make are

Cordial Vampire --> Skirsdag High Priest

Sheoldred, Whispering One --> Demon of Dark Schemes

Orzhov Charm --> Dictate of Erebos

Black Sun's Zenith --> Massacre Girl

Dross Harvester might be better than Deathgreeter , as well. Sacrificing 3 creatures with Teysa out gains you 6 life with Deathgreeter and 12-4=8 life with Harvester. Though since their cmcs are different and I don't really have a grasp of how fast EDH is it's hard for me to say without testing.

You could maybe play some Morbid cards like Skirsdag High Priest , but that's all I can really say. Most of the card choices here look solid to me. I'll list a few cards that you don't have in the maybeboard: Ajani's Last Stand , Ashes of the Abhorrent , Demon of Dark Schemes , Kaya's Guile , Dictate of Erebos , Dross Harvester , Massacre Girl , Ogre Slumlord .

Of those, I think Skirsdag High Priest , Dross Harvester , and Ogre Slumlord are the best/most fun.

Lil_Kalki,

Mirage Mirror , one of my favorite pet cards!

I would probably also end up picking Bog Initiate if I were running Ashnod's Altar , too. I ran the pair for a bit, but I'm going a bit of a token fuel route with Pawn of Ulamog / Sifter of Skulls with Dross Harvester and Pitiless Plunderer . Initiate also helps with Ancient Tomb / Sol Ring / Temple of the False God , of course.

"My opponent’s don’t tend to have a shortage of blockers..." In light of that, some alternatives to Hypnotic Specter : Liliana's Specter or Plaguecrafter , and work with Sangromancer all the better.

Also Vesuva could replace a Swamp, not just one of your nonbasics, because if nothing else it can be a Swamp. But of your nonbasics, Path of Ancestry only supports 4 of your cards, including Chainer, for only a rare scry 1. Has Ash Barrens been useful? I run fetchlands because of Rings of Brighthearth and it would turn that into ", discard Ash Barrens: Search my library for 2 Swamps and put them in my hand, shuffle library".

With three sources of "no maximum hand size", do you ever aim Sadistic Hypnotist at yourself as a discard outlet, or do you just not encounter a need to pitch something from your hand?
