Favorite Card in the Game

General forum

What is your favorite card in the game, based on your personal experience, play style or appeal. I'm not asking for the best card, but your personal favorites.

Regiment47 says... #2

Mine personally is Phyrexian Metamorph .

It's simply a jack of all trades. Since EDH is my favorite and I'm really big on graveyard recursion, Metamorph just gets the job done. It can copy anything from Darksteel Forge to Gilded Lotus all the way to any opponents commander.

The card is dirty.

Counterspell . Hopefully self-explanatory.

for me it has to be Llanowar Elves , my first ever magic card, and being an Elves fan it's a must

Serra Angel for me. Back in the day she was simply the best creature in the game, and her artwork was something any awkward teenage guy would have no trouble falling in love with. :) While there are better creatures out there now, she still holds a place in my heart!

Hellkite Overlord because I used to play just casual and when this was released it slotted straight into my 5 colour dragon tribal deck and i was lolling heavily for months each time i played it with Wild Pair out. Hes just a fat beast and hasn't got any drawbacks. massive gamebreaking awesome looking foil dragon? im sold! :-) honourable mention goes to card:Debtors' Knell. reasons being becuase its awesome, again from casual and now EDH standpoint

Typhoid Rats . I love black decks. This is a super useful one-drop. Can do unexpected things and can shift the entire way a game is played.

Canyon Minotaur . That flavor text.

Functionality wise, I like Spawnsire of Ulamog best. Imagine, your opponent is sitting there minding his own business, when all of a sudden your side of the board is filled with huge eldrazi.

February 18, 2013 9:18 a.m.

That's an easy one; Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker . When I got into the game, one of my friends pulled him from a pack. Looking at him, I knew he needed a deck of his own. So I traded a bunch of vampires for him and started collecting more for the deck I knew would one day be.

And he's Magic's villain. Study shows I tend to love villains. xD

acbooster.....thank you for introducing that hilarious flavour text into my life!! :-)

It's gotta be Bloodghast .... He gets it right, every time... Honorable mention goes to Sorin, Lord of Innistrad !

Vigor has to be one of mine have two of them on the field and your creatures can't be damaged. I do love Vampire Nighthawk as well its so cheap for a flying, deathtouch, lifelink tbh i think that card should cost at least one more mana. XD

February 18, 2013 10:04 a.m.

Immaculate Magistrate takes the cake for me, when I started playing I had a mono-green elf tribal deck from Lorwyn. She was nuts after a few turns without removal, then WWK brought us Joraga Warcaller , and my kitchen table elf deck made my brother frown every game after turn 5. Now wizards was silly enough to print Gyre Sage , my elf tribal EDH deck just got more mana ramp lol. Second place would go to Nissa Revane , She likes elves as much as I do.

Guided Passage is my favorite card. The way I build my decks for casual play, it's almost impossible to give me a set of 3 cards that I don't want or can't use. Getting to show off my deck to everyone around the table is a nice plus.

February 18, 2013 10:08 a.m.

My favorite goes to Hero of Bladehold . Always wanted one when I got back into magic, and luckily I managed to get two as a card for entering FNM two different times. Boosting all my attackers and throwing out 2 tokens attacking as well, I fell in love with the card.

Archon of Redemption , first card i ever touched, let alone used. I actually fell out of magic shortly thereafter but i still miss him...

Lightning Bolt for me. It's just so efficient! Kills so many creatures, can finish an opponent easily enough and works at any time. Without the four-off rule I would just have a deck of these. (And magic would be the most boring game ever).

Fireblast . For me, it doesn't get better then casting two bolts and dropping a Fireblast. 10 damage off of two mountains? Yes please!

February 18, 2013 10:54 a.m.

Jimhawk says... #22

Knight Exemplar . She completely defines my affinity for white weenie and RW Knights was my first FNM-winning deck (it somehow waded through the field of CawBlade and Valakut).

Path to Exile -- the first magic video I watched was GP Austin extended, where there were 8 path to exiles in the final, it just did everything, ramp / destroy.

Dragon Tyrant -- its so big, and it has double strike, and it has nice art, (combos with Scion).

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur -- my commander, its the best 10 mana one could ever spend.

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker after having a long break since the release of tempest i got back into magic during kamigawa and mirrodin, and this goblin still amuses me to this day.

Honorable mentions: Kokusho, the Evening Star and Yosei, the Morning Star ... I sure wish they would revisit that plane soon..

February 18, 2013 12:24 p.m.

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Omniscience + Enter the Infinite

Nothing says trolling like a nice Emrakul hitting the table :)

Punish Ignorance

It's esper (my favorite color combo), it's like Lightning Helix and Counterspell smashed together, and it has awesome flavor text and art.

February 18, 2013 3:07 p.m.

@Blakkhand: More like Absorb and Undermine put together

OH DEAR SWEET JESUS!!! SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!!! card:Puca's Mischief is just rediculously fun. To prove my love for it I once traded an Elspeth, Knight-Errant for three of them back when she was 50 bones a pop. I'm a huge dragon fan and an avid control player so the moment I laid eyes on Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker I fell in love. Lorwyn brought another all time favorite for me in the gorgeous shape of Liliana Vess with her control style discard, repeatable tutor and redonkulous reanimate everything omega what's not to love?

Oh and might I add Cyclonic Rift to that list. It is my favorite card, it does everything in EDH.

February 18, 2013 6:44 p.m.

I've always really loved Vapor Snag for some odd reason. The first deck I bought was blue, and I remember getting an Unsummon . When I found Vapor Snag I just fell in love with it.

Also Lightning Bolt , Pacifism , Swerve , Vampire Nighthawk , Stab Wound , Blood Artist , Deadly Recluse and Ghostly Touch are on my list of great cards.

Skirsdag High Priest . It saved me so many times and I love to play it. it lets me do some awful stuff with card:Geralf's Messenger and Mortarpod , not to mention Fume Spitter . I loved having a turn-3 demon token and I crushed many an enemy under an ever-growing horde of tokens.

Goblin Grenade pulls a close second. It deals so much damage and usually you juat sac e 1/1 from Kuldotha Rebirth or Goblin Arsonist . asking how much life they're at, hearing 11, only to goblin grenade, reverberate, a Goblin Arsonist for the win right then and there, is a great feeling. For me, at least.

Burning-Tree Emissary . She is amazing, cause there is nothing but then free casting a card, or even better, play 5 cards on turn 2 in an agro. And you know, the art work is pretty nice :D

Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius .

No he doesn't have an infinite loop combo but put curiosity on him and you will draw the cards to win the game anyway. That and he's an arrogant sumb!#ch, what's not to like?
