Time Travel Shenanigans

Commander / EDH Casual UR (Izzet)

Saxatilis

Casual EDH deck based around Jhoira of the Ghitu. As always, a work in progress.

I love the suspend mechanic, and time travel stories, so my original goal was to make the deck time travel themed. From there it morphed into more of a chaos deck. Lately it's mostly a bounce everything, mess up everyone else's plans, and draw tons and tons of cards sorta game plan.

All silly, overcosted enchantments are welcome. Possibility Storm and Hive Mind are the stars of this deck. No counterspells, unless they're on theme (ie Delay, Time Stop). Mostly because this is meant to be a fun casual deck, and secondly because it sucks to Possibility Storm into a Counterspell. Instead, we just run a lot of Unsummon-style spells. Creatures are typical time counter movers, spell retrievers, and whatever I had sitting around.

How to play this deck:

Try not to draw attention to yourself in the early game. Get out Jhoira and a couple of big enchantments or board shuffling spells. Try to get an extra draw source or two out early. Jhoira usually eats the dust after the first one or two suspensions, but hopefully her antics will cause enough havoc that it won't matter.

Once the cogs are in place, just sit back and watch everything devolve into a beautiful mess. Good luck trying to decipher the stack when there's a Hive Mind, Knowledge Pool, and an Eye of the Storm in play. Laugh maniacally as your opponents see their neat structured plans crumble, and eventually give in to the chaos. Draw seventeen cards at the beginning of your turn, then let Arjun help you sift them all back into your deck and do it again.

This has never once won a game, but if it ever does, it will be completely by accident.

Also, be sure to make as many heavy-handed Doctor Who references as you can, since your friends still won't get it.

Disclaimer: Do not play this deck unless you are with a group of like-minded friends who don't mind bullshitting around for a few hours. This deck would probably get you lynched by the competitive players at your LGS.
