Maybeboard

Knight theme commander deck. WB.

Aryel, Knight of Windgrace is the Commander here. This is because she gives us repeated token generation and creature destruction.

So the idea is that we're going to flood the battlefield with knights. Many of them buff other creatures, many give first/double strike, vigilance, and one even gives indestructible. There should be a varied number of solutions to specific threats, and black gives us the card advantage to keep playing small threats that get progressively scarier. A large number of vampire knights are now in the game, so I've added some black cards that use them, such as Blood Tribute. I'm certain I'll be able to convincingly kick that, since even my Commander is a vampire. I think this will play a lot like a sliver deck as a result.

I've also put in loads of board wipe. Having my creatures die is going to be acceptable, since I should have enough card advantage to make up for the losses. I also have graveyard recursion, so deaths are not necessarily a bad thing. The most straightforward example is Rise of the Dark Realms, but I have also included Haakon, Stromgald Scourge.

Haakon allows me to play knights from the graveyard. His drawback is that he must be played from the graveyard, and can't be played from your hand. Plan A is to hope that I draw Buried Alive first, allowing me to bury Haakon and two other cards (Crib Swap and Nameless Inversion). Plan B is to draw enough cards to be forced to discard him. There might be a better plan, but I don't know it yet. I just don't know how many cards I'm willing to devote to this combo. Suggestions encouraged.

Once Haakon is in play, you can play Knights from your graveyard as if they were in your hand. This makes board wipes easily recoverable from. Also, it allows me to play Crib Swap and Nameless Inversion as many times as I can pay for. The two instants are great removal spells, and count as Knights due to changeling. After being cast, they go to the graveyard, where they are allowed to be played from. The only weakness here is that it means that I'll need to try protect Haakon to some extent.

Another few things to point out. Phyrexian Crusader has Infect. Since it's also a Knight, it will get all the knight buffs, including the possibility for double strike (Kinsbaile Exemplar; Chieftain en-Dal + Kwende, Pride of Femeref; True Conviction). This means you'll only need to sneak it in for one hit. Dauthi Mercenary and Soltari Crusader both have shadow and self-buffing, which means they're usually unblockable. Zhalfirin Commander can repeatedly buff any knight from a far, as well. By the way, every creature is a knight, except for some 2/2 Vampire tokens from Elenda, the Dusk Rose. I'm going to see how she plays before I decide if that inconsistency bothers me enough to swap her out with a different card. I already removed a bunch of vampire synergy cards for that very reason.

Wrath spells are based on my personal selction, but I'll want to play a few rounds to figure out what specific combinations of wipe are a threat in my local meta first.
